The King had never had trouble reading Maleficent, and he wasn't having trouble doing it now. Her evil was not so strong as it had been. Something had taken hold of her in the two months that she had wondered about being a mother. In that time, her heart had softened, at least toward her possible child. "Well, Maleficent," the King told her, "you are most definitely going to have a child." Maleficent nearly fell into her chair. Her heart was racing. She had hoped for this news, but had not expected it. For a moment, she said nothing. Then she smiled and began to laugh. It was not her usual evil laugh. King Mickey smiled back. "Congratulations." he shook her hand. Maleficent's jaw dropped. "I'm pregnant?" she asked, smiling at the thought. "Well, since the word 'pregnant' actually means expectant, you could say that." King Mickey hedged. "Meaning what, precisely?" Maleficent inquired. "You're not the one carrying it." King Mickey replied, concisely. "What do you mean I'm not carrying it?!" Maleficent demanded. "How can I be having a child with Riku if I'm not carrying it?" "The child slumbers within Riku. Ansem's spirit told me what happened. He said you forced yourself upon Riku, and that conception took place as a result. But then he told me a most curious thing. He said that Riku's love for his child was so powerful, that his will caused it to move from your body into his." King Mickey looked wistfully up to the sky. "I sure do hope Riku is someplace where they can help him when the baby comes."
