Attraction – part 3

„Look at him. He seems to be totally lost in his thoughts.” Said Guys to Evan, who was playing cards with some prisoners.

“Who is lost in his thoughts?”

“Bernard. He’s like that all the time.”

“He’s probably dreaming about Durer going wild with him.”

“So you know about it?” Guys looked surprised.

“Everyone knows about it.”

“I bet you could sneak out of here and he wouldn’t even notice.”

“Don’t do anything stupid.”

“I was only joking. But that’s weird. How can he possibly love someone like Durer?” Guys still remembered the day when they both played with him. Bernard didn’t look very pleased, but he did everything without hesitation. Could he really love Durer so much?

“Believe me. Love is something totally unpredictable.” Evan stopped playing and focused on Guys.

“Really?”

“Yeah. I’ll tell you a story. It happened when I was more or less in your age. There was a girl in my district. She was from Spain and looked very exotic. She had black her, and tanned skin. She was beautiful. I fell in love with her immediately.”

“What’s so strange about it?”

“Wait a minute. That’s not all. We started dating, but I had a feeling that something’s not right. And you know what? She turned to be a prostitute.”

“That’s awful. What did you do?”

“Nothing. I was so madly in love with her that I stayed with her even though she did it with another men. I was buying her things to show her my affection. She used me, and I let her.”

“So what happened in the end?”

“She left the town with some rich traveler. I became very depressed, but got over it, and realized how stupid I had been.”

“That’s scary.”

“Now you know that you can’t choose a person you fall in love with. And that people do really crazy stuff when they’re in love.”

“Do you think Durer also loves him?”

“I don’t know, but I wish he did. Maybe he would focus on his lover and give us a break.”

Bollanet looked so happy that it made Durer pissed. He gave up as usual and was ready for his fahter’s orders. Bollanet had always had a power over him, and Durer couldn’t stand it.

“So where’s our hottie?” Bollanet asked impatiently.

“I can’t just bring him here. He will get suspicious.”

“So don’t tell him I’m here. Lets pretend it’s the coincidence. You will bring him here, and then I’ll say he can stay for a while and have some wine. You will pour wine, and add it to his glass.” Bollanet gave him a drug which looked like a white powder.

Durer muttered, some swear words and looked for Bernard. The guard wasn’t busy.

“Come with me. We need to talk.” Durer approached him.

“Yes, sir.” The guard followed him.

When they entered the room Durer pretended that he was surprised.

“Oh, I didn’t expect you.” He said to his father.

“I see you have a company.”

“I’ll leave you alone, sir.” Bernard saluted, but was stopped, by Bollanet.

“You can stay and have some wine with us.”

“I shouldn’t . . . ”

“Only one glass. Please, be my guest.”

You usually didn’t have a chance to drink with the minister of police, and Bernard didn’t want to be impolite so he stayed.

“Pour as some wine.” Bollanet told his son.

“Of course.”

His back was facing them so they couldn’t see. Durer poured wine to glasses and started thinking. He really didn’t want to do all of this.

“What takes you so long?” He heard his father’s voice.

He sighed and added the drug to one of the glasses. Then he gave them to other men. They drank. Bollanet was already smiling evilly, and Bernard was totally unaware. Durer waited, feeling anxious, watching Bernard’s uneasiness and his father’s expression. Then it happened.

“That was very strong wine.” Said Bollanet. “I’m already . . . feeling . . . ” And his head fell to the table.

“Oh my God, he’s dead!” Bernard stood up, shocked.

“He’s not.” Durer said calmly.

“Are you sure? Maybe he got a stroke?”

“He’s ok. I think you should go back to your work.” Durer grabbed him by the arm, and started dragging him toward the door.

“Maybe we should get a doctor.”

“I told you he’s ok. He has a low alcohol tolerance.”

“But . . . ”

“Get out.” Durer pushed him outside and locked the door.

He sat on the sofa not surely what should he do next. He got into a big shit.

The hand slapped him hard in the face, leaving a burning sensation. Saying that Bollanet was angry would be an understatement. He was utterly furious.

“What did you think? That you can trick me and I will forget?” His father hadn’t shouted at him like that, for a very long time.

“Don’t treat me like a child.”

“I’m not treating you like a child! I’m treating you like a traitor!” Bollanet grabbed his son by the shirt. “Betray me again, and I won’t go easy on you.” With that Bollanet left.

This incident make Durer very pissed. Everyone could feel his anger. Even Bernard was too much afraid to ask what had happened. In a state like that Durer was able to kill anyone, so it was wise to get out of his way. He got letters from his father, telling him he’d better give him what he wants, but he destroyed them all. He got an impression that what his father really wanted wasn’t Bernard, but showing his power over everyone. Or maybe it were both? Whatever the reason, Durer had no intentions to obey him like a slave. That’s why he got his punishment.

It happened when he was walking down the street. He saw two strong-looking men following him. There were always behind him, no matter where he went so he got very suspicious. When he entered the empty area two, other guys approached him from the other direction. He was surrounded by them, and knew they didn’t come to make friends with him.

“What do you want?” He asked with an angry expression.

“We’re ordered to give you a lesson.” Said one of the men.

Durer reacted instantly. He hit the man standing behind him with his elbow, and punched the other one. He had some fighting skills, so he wasn’t an easy target, but he had no chance with so many. What’s more they’re also seemed trained. From their fighting style he could tell they’re probably soldiers.

The two of them held him still, and the other two beats him mercilessly. The droplets of blood fell to the pavement. When he couldn’t fight back anymore, they threw him to the ground and started kicking him. He had no idea how long did it takes, but when they finished, he couldn’t move at all. He had to be careful not to choke with his own blood. Every part of his body hurt like hell.

Then he heard footsteps and saw a pair of expensive shoes. A hand grabbed him by his hair and lifted his head so he could see to whom the shoes belonged.

“I told you I won’t go easy on you.” Said Bollanet. “Maybe this would teach you something.”
