A decision is made
Lyude was sitting on his bed catching his breath. Since he'd started wondering about his feelings for Kalas, he'd been on edge. Seeing him now made him realize it was all true. He did, in deed, want to be closer to his winged friend.
'Oh great, now I've got something else to be unhappy about,' was all he could think. How on earth could he ever get Kalas to feel the same way about him? Man, his entire life was looking more and more like an uphill battle on and endless slope.
-----
Kalas hung at the back of the party, against a wall several doors down from the inn. He watched the crowd carefully. Well, that was a lie. In actuallity he was glaring at them, but he didn't really see any of them. Instead, he was thinking about Lyude.
Kalas had noted several times how insanely attractive the boy was. He also respected Lyude for his work on the battlefield and for standing up for the Azhani people. Lyude was a boy he could like, a strong soldier with a sense of moral duty and a kindness that never ended. He was a thoughtful friend and a gifted comrade.
Kalas liked Lyude. It was as simple as that. But did he like him... like that?
Kalas thought for a moment. He wasn't against the thought, though he hadn't entertained it yet. He'd mostly been too caught up in Xelha to notice Lyude. But looking back on it there had been many times when the boy fascinated him, and many more times when he really felt his struggle, both internal and external, and wanted to help him. He enjoyed speaking with the kind younger man and enjoyed spending time with him. He'd never realized it before but he actually did think of Lyude as an attractive and available person.
As he gazed blankly at the crowd, Kalas considered his thoughts. He was almost certain that the boy wanted him. That was pretty obvious just from the look he'd received. So should he take the boy up on his unspoken offer?
He didn't want to cheat on Xelha. She was the only woman for him. Only woman...
Lyude wasn't a woman.
Kalas smiled an evil, sinister smile. If only for a moment, he was going to make sure the feeling of loss was dulled. And Lyude would help him.
