Getting some alone time
Their first battle was easy, as was their second, third and fourth. After awhile everyone decided to let the girls handle things. Mizuti and Savyna needed practice. Lyude did, too, but Xelha wanted to stay in battle to make sure everything went right.
Xelha. Man Lyude resented her some days. Of course, they were good friends by now. She was very kind to him. She would talk to him about his family and actually listen. This meant a lot to him. But she was in love with Kalas, blatantly, blindly, exhaustingly in love. It almost made Lyude sick, but since he was pretty much the same way, except for the blatant part, he really couldn't blame her. They were one in the same. It's just that she was a better fighter.
Lyude walked with Kalas and Gibari. Kalas hung back a bit, which wasn't odd at all. He had felt separate from the group since his little stint with Malpercio. Lyude didn't want to think about that time. Kalas was back and he was repenting, trying to repay his debts with the world and them all as fast as he could. Lyude forgave him for the betrayal. Gibari, however, did not.
"Lyude," Gibari said softly, hoping Kalas wouldn't hear. "I think nature's callin' me. You feel safe alone with Kalas?"
'Alone with Kalas?' he thought. Gibari caught the little jump Lyude made.
"Hey, if you don't feel safe, I could ask Xelha to come over and--"
"Oh, no, I think I'll be fine."
"Are you sure? You don't have to be all manly, Lyude. We both know full well what he's capable--"
"I'll be fine, Gibari," Lyude interjected, somewhat angrily (well, angrily for Lyude, which is still quite polite for most people). Gibari jumped this time.
"I'll be fine," Lyude said again, this time with his sweet, sweet smile. "Go on ahead, take your time. I'll be waiting over here."
Gibari, assured that Lyude could handle himself, and feeling his need get worse, just nodded and ran off, over a cliff, into bushes beyond their view.
"Hey, what was that all about?" Kalas asked coming up from behind.
"Oh, he just needed a few moments alone," smiled Lyude. He was hoping to enjoy those few moments.
