Epilogue

It was a nice, sunny spring day in Caelin, but Lucius had some difficulty enjoying it. He wasn't exactly sure he was doing the right thing, theologically speaking. Sure there were no actual rules against it, but... well... it was a bit unorthodox. On the other hand, the people standing in front of him now had been more or less instrumental in the vanquishing of the evil that had threatened the continent, so blessed Saint Elimine was bound to look upon them kindly.

He took a deep breath. He'd gotten this far, so he might as well finish it.

"And do you, Lady Lyndis of Caelin and Dame Vaida of Biran, take Florina of Ilia and Fiora of Ilia to be your wedded wife?"

"I do."

"I do."

Well, at least the two couples were dressed properly. Both Florina and Fiora were dressed in huge, white bridal dresses, all lace and frilliness, the very epitome of brides one might say. Vaida, on the other hand, wore what was presumably Biran's military dress uniform and the Lady Lyndis looked if not masculine then at least amazonian in her clearly Sacaen dress.

"And do you, Florina of Ilia and Fiora of Ilia, take Lady Lyndis of Caelin and Dame Vaida of Biran to be your wedded wife?"

"I do."

"I do."

Lucius smiled a bit sheepishly. He'd been dreading this part. He wasn't quite sure what to say. However, he persevered. "Then by the power vested in by the Sacred Church of Saint Elimine I now pronounce you wife and wife. You may kiss your bride."

Lyn lifted Florina's veil, Vaida lifted Fiora's. It is never easy to kiss someone in front of a hundred spectators on a formal occasion, but they managed.

Then the bouquets were thrown and, as is tradition, the bridesmaids scrambled for it. The only ones not joining in were Lady Louise, who was married already and Farina, who had reasons of her own. After a few confused moments, Serra triumphantly flourished both bouquets.

"Haha! Looks I'm the lucky girl, as if that would surprise anyone."

"Congratulations," said Lady Louise. "So does this mean you are to be married twice?"

Serra tapped her chin thoughtfully with one of the bouquets. "Hmm. You're right. We can't really have that, can we? Ah, I know. Priscilla!"

Priscilla blinked. "Uhm... yes?"

With a great deal of mock solemnity, Serra presented one of her bouquets to the girl. "Here. As one of Erk's mistresses to the other, I present you with this."

Priscilla looked surprised for a moment. "Oh, uhm, thank you," she said, taking the bouquet and trying not to blush.

And then, as they say, the reception began. Cakes were sliced, speeches were made, musicians played, people danced and a few drunkards threw up in the bushes. With the attention drifting away from the happy couples and towards simply having a good time, Fiora and Vaida sat down on opposite sides of Farina.

"I hope you enjoyed it," said Fiora.

"It was pretty nice," said Farina.

"So you're not particularly jealous it was I who got your sister's hand?" said Vaida.

"Not really," said a smiling Farina. "You got my sister's hand whereas I," Her hand drifted down onto her stomach, which had been steadily growing for a few weeks now, "gained something else from her."
