Chapter 3
The Engagement


Afternoon

The maverick hunters had a day off. Today was peaceful. No maverick reports today at all. Everyone was relaxing and doing things that they wanted to do. Zero was out in the city, X at his quarters, Alia at her quarters, Signas in his office, Douglas in his office working on more gadgets, Lifesaver taking a break from helping the injured; since a lot of them recovered, and Axl hanging out with his friends.

Soldjermon was out in the city as well looking for any new releases out on DVD or any new video games. Today she’s out shopping. She noticed at the stores that they’re coming out with Xbox 700, PS EX, and Nintendo Beyond that will come out next year. She couldn’t wait till those come out. She went into Gamestop to see if there’s any new video games. She looked to see if there is any new games.

Hmm…nothing new. She headed out of the store and to the video store to get a movie for both of them for tonight.


Signas was getting his room ready. He was fixing the dining room, living room, his room and the kitchen. He couldn’t wait for Soldjer to come over. He went out a few days ago and got a golden engagement ring. I hope she says yes. He smiled. He is sure she will accept the ring and say yes. Tonight will be a dream come true.

Soldjer came back with a DVD in the bag for her and Signas for both of them to watch. She got the movie, The Ring. A scary movie but not scary enough. She will pretend to be scared so she can cling on to Signas throughout the night. She wants to stay in his arms like it’s forever and not wanting to let go, like a dream. A dream not wanting to let go and let it last forever, like an eternity. She sighed happily and drifted off into daydream, dreaming about making love to Signas. She blushed at the thought. She hurried up to her room to get ready and head down to his quarters where he’s waiting.

8pm

Signas was a little nervous. He paced back and forth. He wanted Soldjer to come now and see him, and for him to give her the ring and ask her. He was very nervous at that. He’s been wanting to ask her for a long time. He heard the door knock. He rushed to the door and opened it.

“Soldjer!” he said happily.

“Hi. I got a movie for both of us to watch.” She said as she walked in. She was still wearing her armor on. So was Signas, since that he can’t take his armor off, because it’s permanently there.

“That’s good. I always loved to watch movies.” He shut the door and locked it. “Nobody saw you come here, did they?”

“Nope. I made sure.”

“That’s good. Want some dinner?”

“Yeah sure. I’m starving since I’ve been out all day.”

Signas and Soldjer went to the dining room and the table was nicely set. Candles, plates, knives and forks for both of them, napkins, and wine glass cups for both of them. Signas got red wine over at the diner from the bar tender.

“I’ll cook dinner. What would you like?” asked Soldjer. She’s a very good cook.

“Italian would be nice.”

Soldjer nodded and got down to cooking. She picked out what they both will eat.


X was in his office reading reports. He was the busiest maverick hunter in the headquarters. Zero is probably out flirting with women again. X never had the time to go out with anyone. He was too busy in his office. A knock came at the door. “Come in.”

Alia walked in. “Hi X.”

“Oh. Hi Alia. I didn’t expect to see you here.”

“Yeah I didn’t have anything for today.” She noticed him having papers in his hand. “Going over reports?”

“Yeah.” X nodded.

“You know X, you’re working yourself too hard. You need to go out more.” She said. She wanted to ask X to go out to dinner, the both of them.

“Yeah I know, but you know how Signas is. He wants the reports done. I know he has given us a day off for all hunters and us but I need to keep working. Sigma is out there and I know it.”

She shook her head. He’s driving himself too hard on working his butt off. She gets worried all the time. She even wonders if X has gotten any sleep. “X. Why don’t you finish that up tomorrow.” She grabbed the papers from his hands.

“Wha-?”

Alia neatly put the papers on his desk and grabbed his hand. “Now, let’s go and have fun for our day off. I got a great place for both of us to relax at. How about out to eat? I bet you’re hungry after working so much.”

“Yeah I guess you’re right.”

Alia and X walked out of the headquarters and out to dinner at a restaurant.


Zero was out flirting with girls. He has always been a womanizer. He had two girls with him and was laughing as they told jokes. He was at a strip club up in town, but he had no girl he had a crush on. He just hangs around and flirt with others is alls, but there was one girl he had on his mind. Although she’s arrogant, a push over, and is ‘All powerful’ attitude girl, he still liked her. Hellblaze. Hmph! She’s nothing but a arrogant fool! He thought as he drank some wine.

In the shadows up at the rooftop across the street, a pair of glowing red eyes was watching Zero, not knowing that ‘she’ was here. She was sitting on all fours, two scars on her eyes looking like a tiger’s claws that tried to rip her face; going up and down, she had long brown hair, and brown eyes that are glowing red, her body was muscular and was wearing a blue t-shirt and black pants and boots. The belt that holds her pants is silver and black with an ‘H’ for Hellblaze. She growled in jealousy. “Zerrrrrro.” She bared her fangs.

Axl was out hanging out with his friends. He has seen a figure shadow out in the city. He doesn’t know who it is. He and his friends headed toward the arcade area to play games.

Douglas was making more gadgets. So far he came up with new inventions for the hunters. “Now to connect this to the red one and....” Just when he thought it was the right one, the gadget blew up and oil and soot was on his face, coughing from the soot that was on his face, “Oops. Wrong connection..” He laughed.


Soldjer and Signas were eating. He had ‘Fettuccine Alfredo’ and she had ‘Five Cheese Ziti al Forno’, their favorite foods. The wine she made also was Amarone Bertani. At the restaurants, it’s really expensive, but Soldjer can make anything. Signas was enjoying her food as always. He loved her food. “Mmm... Soldjer. This food is excellent! I would love to eat more of your food next time.”

“Thanks Signas.” She smiled. He smiled back.

After they’ve eaten they saved the food for their work tomorrow and headed to the living room to watch, The Ring.

“I picked this movie out so we can watch a really scary movie.” She showed him the DVD.

“The Ring, huh? You aren’t scared of movies that much.”

“Yeah. Sometimes, not all the time. Sometimes I do get scared.”

Signas put the DVD in. “Now lets watch.” He sat on the couch next to Soldjer. He was blushing as he sat next to her. She was blushing as well. The movie started.


Downtown

Zero laughed and walked out of the strip club with two girls. The girls laughed as well. He wasn’t drunk at all, just having a good time is all.

The shadowy figure followed Zero. She was about to ambush him and the girls that are with him.

Zero led them into a limousine to take them to an apartment. “So and X was like, ‘No way!’ and I was like ‘Hell yeah.’ He was clueless!” he laughed. The girls laughed as well. The car was hit and the girls fell to the floor. Zero hit his head on the set. “What the-?” The hood of the front car was damaged.

“Now what the hell?” the driver came out to take a look at the damage. A growl was heard. “What was that?” He looked behind him and sees a woman and her eyes were glowing red. Her claws extended. The man screamed.

“What’s going on out there?” he wondered. The girls were confused as well. The driver was missing. They heard a roar. Blood splattered on the window and on the car. The girls screamed in terror. Zero was now scared as well. “What’s going on?”

Hellblaze sliced through the door to where the girls were at and grabbed them. They screamed. “Die!!” She lifts them up and throws them across. Her hand glowed and fired at both of them blowing them into pieces.

Zero was shocked. “Li-Lind-say!?” He was now scared. He has never seen her this mad.

She turned her attention to him. “Zero. You dare.” Her eyes subsided.

“Wha-What? You’re jealous!?”

She grabbed him by the throat. “YOU BETRAYED ME!!!”

“I-I-did not.”

“LIES!” she threw him across as well. “YOU ARE NOTHING BUT A PERVERTED WOMANIZER!!”

“So, you are jealous.” He got up.

She blushed. “I--I am not!!”

He smiled. He knew her very well. Still the same. And that’s the Hellblaze he knows. “I’ve got an idea.”

“Huh?”

“How about I take you out.” He insisted.

“Hell no! You will just be going out with more women!”

“I am serious!”

“Hmph! Yeah right. I don’t trust you Zero. You were with two women tonight. I was away for a year. So tell me, how many women have you been out with?”

“Umm.. well umm..”

“I knew it!” She growled in anger. She was angry. Zero has betrayed her even though they’ve never been out on a date together yet. She wanted to go out with him but has now found out that he’s been going out with other women. To her, it’s not loyalty.

“Wait! I can explain!”

“NEVER!” she blew a gust of wind from her right arm. Zero was knocked 5 ft and to the wall hurting his back. “You have no loyalty. I will be talking to X on what you have been doing while I was away.” She turned her back and flew off.

“I-I’m sorry.” He said hurtful. He didn’t know she would be back and yet, he betrayed her.

Soldjer and Signas continued to watch the movie. It was getting scarier. She shivered. He was scared as well. “This movie is getting scary.”

“Yeah.” She said.

The movie got to the scariest part and Soldjer jumped onto Signas’ lap and shivered in fright. He comforts her by rubbing her back. She calmed down loving his touch. Signas thought that tonight is the night when he asks her. I will ask her.

11pm

The movie ended and the two talked. They even made out as well to get rid of the scary parts from the movie.

“I’m so happy, Signas.” She cuddled close to him.

“I’m happy too.” He hugged her. The time to ask her is now. He pushed Soldjer to the bedside. “Soldjer.. I have a request to make to you.”

“Oh? What is it?”

He got to his knees and had something in his hands. “Soldjer..” He opened the box. It looked tiny in his hands.

Soldjer gasped. The ring was beautiful. She flushed, knowing what this means.

“Will.. will you.. marry.. me?” he blushed as well.

Soldjer laughed and burst into tears. Their dream came true. “Yes, Signas! I will!” She threw her body toward him to give him a big hug and she kissed him passionately. The two will have a lot of time together in the future.


Zero came back to the headquarters all scared and hurt. I shouldn’t have betrayed her.

X came down the hall. He was going to his quarters. He sees Zero all hurt and scared. “Zero? What happened to you?”

“Lindsay’s back. She saw me X. She saw me with two women.” He slumped to the ground and held his head in shame.

X ran over to him. “Aww man. I’m sorry Zero. I didn’t know she would be back. So she’s jealous?”

“Yes. She said I betrayed her.”

“Well I’ll have a talk with her tomorrow okay? You get some rest my friend.” He patted Zero’s shoulder to comfort him.

“Okay X. See ya.” He walked off and to his quarters.

X was now worried. What could have caused Lindsay to be jealous of Zero hanging out with two women? He’ll find out tomorrow. He headed to his quarters.
