“I have the disk.” A black haired Asian said into her mouthpiece.

“Punctual as always.” A slightly distorted female voice replied
from the other end. The Asian flinched upon the choice of words. “Make your way
out through the warehouse and deliver the disk when you get back to the city.”

“Understood.”

“And take care.”

Ada removed and threw her headpiece into a nearby trashcan. Armed
with only her punisher, a rifle and a knife, she had infiltrated a researcher’s
laboratory in the outskirts of Las Vegas and acquired information on the elusive
T-Drug. What she refused to report was that earlier she had been shadowing a
certain Agent Kennedy who happened to be at the same location.

The mind-altering drug had the ability to alter perceptions
and make its users trusting of anyone, more importantly it made them easy to
manipulate. It also had a composition that allowed distribution in varying forms,
allowing it to be laced into other drugs and making it harder to detect. Just recently
it had been administered in a vapor form on test subjects at an upper class nightclub,
and Ada inadvertently became one of those subjects.

Clad in light tactical gear, Ada quietly slipped through the
laboratory building that was connected to a warehouse. Her mission was half done;
all she had to do now was get out. She was soundlessly slinking through the dark
corners of a large room in the warehouse when she heard the loud thudding noise
of someone running across the center of the room and froze. An alarm went off
and shouts were heard, she lifted her head and saw that nobody was after her. All
the guards who were posted in the room seemed to be headed in the opposite direction.
Just a few more steps and she would be out.

Ada hesitated as she passed a large wooden crate with its
top removed. She looked at the open warehouse garage doors and then at the
crate again. Small containers, which she knew were filled with a white powder
were there for the taking. She reached out with one hand, her mind focused on
the thing she needed.

“What are you doing?”

Upon hearing the familiar voice, Ada quickly took one
container and pocketed it as she drew her gun, turning around. “Leon.” She
smiled coyly. “I’m doing a job here.” Ada realized that Leon was the cause of
the commotion; quiet infiltration never was his forte.

“So am I, and I’m sure that whoever you’re working for doesn’t
need that.” The rival agent nodded to the crate. “Put it back, Ada.” He
took a step towards her.

Ada raised her gun at him. Her hand shook while the laser made
trails on his chest. “Stay back.”

“You’re hooked, aren’t you...” Leon seemed unaffected by the
gun being pointed at him.

A shot rang out and Leon flinched, when he looked again he
saw that Ada’s arm was covered in blood while her gun was on the floor.

“Ada!” Leon ran and caught her, slowly lowering her towards
the ground.

“Sorry comrade, I wanted to save killing you for myself.” A low
voice said.

“The hell? I thought I finished you off in Spain!” Leon
shouted as he drew his pistol. He fired as Krauser dodged each shot with inhuman
speed until he was out of bullets. Leon cursed and picked up Ada’s Punisher, he
pulled the trigger only to be met with a clicking noise. It wasn’t even loaded.

“He’s too strong. You have to get out of here.” Ada hissed
as she held onto her arm. Leon noticed that she was losing a lot of blood.

“Hang on, Ada.” He said as he kept his eyes on the large man
approaching them.

Ada’s vision blurred as she reached for her grappling hook
gun. “I’ll be fine, it’s just a flesh wound. Use this and get yourself out of
here.” She tossed the weapon with her last ounce of strength and slumped in her
spot, closing her eyes.

“No. I won’t leave you this time.” Leon argued back.

Damn you, Leon.

Those were Ada’s last thoughts as she saw Leon pull out his
knife.

----------------------

Ada groaned as she sat up. She looked down to find that her
arm was bandaged in a haphazard way.

“Welcome back.”

Ada squinted as the flashing lights from outside the nearby
window blinded her vision when she looked in the direction of the voice. When
her vision cleared she realized that she was in Leon’s hotel room. She immediately
checked her belt pocket and found that the disk was there but the container was
missing.

“If you’re looking for the drug, I destroyed it.” He said smugly.

Ada sighed. “Why are you in this city, Leon?”

“I thought you knew? I’m a government agent investigating
the…”

“Yes, I know. You’re the fed whose presence has been
ruffling the 52nd division’s feathers over their investigation.”

“Heh. Good to know that I’m liked.”

“Who issued your order?” Ada asked. This isn’t normal. They
already had sent me to work on this case. Alone.

“That’s classified.” Leon busied himself by packing some
weapons into an overnight bag.

“Leon, this is important.” Ada was serious in her tone.

“If you must know, an Ingrid Hunnigan relayed the order to
me.”

“Hunni—what? That’s impossible!” Ada tried to get up and
failed, she found herself too dizzy from the loss of blood.

“What do you mean impossible? I worked with her during the
Spain incident.”

Ada shook her head while trying to fight off the after-effects
of moving too fast. “I know she did, that’s why… it’s impossible.”

“I don’t understand what you’re saying. You need something
to drink? You don’t look too good.”

Ada waved him away. “Leon, have you ever met Hunnigan in
person?”

“No…”

Something is very wrong here. “When were you issued
this order and how?”

“Just a week ago. She left messages for me and checks up on
my progress.” Leon went to his answering machine and checked it. “See? There’s a
new message even now.”

Ada’s lip trembled in fear. “Leon, you weren’t assigned to work
this case.”

Beep. You have one new message.

“What are you talking about?”

“Someone was using you to get to me!”

“But who?”

Message received on Friday 6PM. Beep.

Ada froze as a cold and sarcastic voice on the answering
machine drowned out her thoughts.

Good evening Miss Wong. I honestly wondered what made you think
you could get away with crossing the likes of me? Since Spain I knew there was
only one thing ever consistent about your habits and I decided to put him to
use. Thank you, Mister Kennedy for allowing me to find her whereabouts…

Leon wasn’t listening to the voice that never seemed to go
on endlessly, his focus was on a new beeping noise that seemed to be emanating
from the machine. Oh shit. He picked up Ada’s grappling hook gun with
one hand and grabbed her with the other. “Hold on!”

“What are you doing? I want to hear what he is sayi--!”

Leon crashed through the window and shot the hook at the building
across from them. Seconds later an explosion set his hotel room on fire and
broke the rest of the windows. A crowd began to form on the strip of street
below, pointing up and screaming.

The two looked on as the cable suspended them alongside the building
across the street. Neon lights flashed in time, casting strange colors onto their
skin.

“That’s two I owe you. Again.” Ada said dryly.

“I thought you worked for Wesker? Who the hell do you work
for?”

Ada cocked her head to the side as the gun began to wind its
cable, pulling them up. “It doesn’t matter anymore. I’m on your side, I’ve
always been.”

“Oh really?” Leon said in disbelief.

“I’m a special agent for the Secret Service.” She stated
proudly. “And you had no idea that you were indirectly working for me in Spain.”

“No wonder Ingrid never answered my calls.”

Ada nudged him in the chest.

“Hey watch it! Do you want us to fall to our deaths or
something?”

Ada raised an eyebrow and was about to say something witty
until she felt herself become lightheaded again. Her grip loosened and Leon
held onto her tighter.

“Ada? You have to hold on, I can’t do everything here.”

“I’m tired.”

“I know you’re tired. Just hold on for a few more seconds. We’re
almost at the top.” He softly pleaded.

“I’m trying.”

“Do you want to owe me three?” he joked.

“Hell no.”

Ada held onto him tightly with all of her strength until they
safely climbed over the roof of the building.

“I think it’s time we made a trip to the field office.”
