Bring Me to Life

Disclaimer: I don’t own Kingdom Hearts. Wish I did but unfortunately I don’t. So suing won’t do any good. I’m sorry for the long waits on my updates. I’m having daily computer arguments that I usually don’t win so I’m forced to be slow with my chapters. This chapter is like my others. Lots of violence and Language. Please review and tell me what you think. Grammar warning as well.

2 more weeks had passed and summer vacation was fast approaching for the high school. But the final exams were approaching as well. Riku had hardly been at school in the last two weeks. When Riku was there he never paid attention in class, he never studied or handed in any homework. Sora was beyond worried for his best friend. Riku’s lack of effort in school was one of the many things that worried Sora. Riku had clearly lost weight from his thinner appearance. Riku had also become distant to even Sora. Sora had noticed that when he could get Riku to talk that Riku was half there. It was like Riku was a million miles away in which he was. Also no matter how hot it was outside Riku always wore long sleeved shirts over his tank top and never took the shirt off. This made Sora question what Riku could possibly be hiding.

Sora was in his math class, which was Sora’s final class of the day. The spiky haired brunette was lightly tapping his pencil as the teacher explained the lesson. Sora was an exceptional student and he almost always took notes. Today however was one of the days he didn’t take not one note on any of his lessons. Sora looked out the nearest window to him looking deep in thought. Riku had actually shown up for school that day. But he had only been seen half the day before seeming to disappear after l. S. Selphie and Wakka had even told Sora Riku didn’t eat lunch at all. Wakka had said he had seen Riku get a candy bar from the vending machine in the cafeteria but then Riku left the cafeteria without a word.

Kairi shared the same math class with Sora. She frowned when she seen her boyfriend stare out the window yet again. Sora had been like this with all of the classes he had with her. He would stare out the window the entire hour of class. After the teacher finished the lesson Kairi moved over by Sora being the teacher had given permission to use the rest of the time to study with someone. Kairi smiled as she looked at Sora.

“Hey handsome…”Kairi said in her normal bubbly voice. Sora seemed to jump out of his thoughts and look at Kairi before giving the briefest of smiles. He was so wrapped up in his thoughts he didn’t even see her walk up. Although most of Sora and Kairi’s friends thought Kairi to be stuck up and that she wanted everyone’s attention on her. Sora did notice that Kairi would get a bit ticked if he wasn’t paying attention to her.

“Hey Kairi…”Sora said softly before he looked back out the window. Kairi frowned even more seeing her boyfriend pretty much brush her off. She absolutely hated when Sora did that to her. She liked the attention she got from Sora but she felt like she was being pushed to the side.

“Sora? Is there something wrong?”Kairi asked in a sweet voice. She put her hand on Sora’s and squeezed a bit giving her best concerned look.

“Is there anything I can help you with Sora? You look troubled.”Kairi said again. Sora looked at her and gave her another brief smile before he sat up fully and squeezed her hand in return.

“I’m sorry if I seem out of it Kairi. I’m just really worried about Riku. He’s been acting so strange. I think I might go by his house and see him after school.”Sora said. Kairi narrowed her eyes before she pulled her hand away from Sora’s and crossed her arms. Sora looked at her before frowning himself. He wasn’t really meaning to make Kairi angry but it just seemed like anything he did pissed her off anymore.

“You can’t Sora! You promised me that you’d help me study for the finals. You know I’m not good in science and I need your help! You promised me Sora!” Kairi said angrily. Sora sighed and ran his hand through his hair.

“I’m sorry Kairi but I’m really worried about Riku. I’ll still come over and help you but I want to stop by Riku’s first. I just want to see if he’s ok. He hasn’t talked to me lately and its really bugging me.”Sora said his voice apologetic. This only seemed to piss Kairi off more. She looked at Sora and waved her hand.

“Just forget it. Go see if Riku is alright. He always comes first anyway doesn’t he Sora? I personally think Riku just wants to fail! He hasn’t even been at school Sora! He doesn’t CARE. Why should you?! If it was you I bet you anything Riku wouldn’t be as worried about you! He’s trouble Sora!” Kairi said as the bell rang and she grabbed her stuff. Sora quickly put up his stuff in his backpack and followed Kairi out of the school building.

“Wait a minute Kairi! How can you say all of that?! Riku is my best friend and I have been putting off seeing him for far too long! I think there is something seriously wrong Kairi! When I mention Riku you fly off the deep end! Whyy ary are you doing this Kairi?!” Sora yelled as he walked behind her. Kairi suddenly turned and looked at him a scowl on her face.

“Have you ever stopped to think that you are the ONLY one who gives a fuck about Riku?! Everyone else is smart enough to see Riku is likely to get them fuckin killed Sora!” Kairi screamed at Sora in anger. She hadn’t seen how much her words had hurt Sora until she looked in his eyes and seen the hurt clear as day.

“Are you saying I’m stupid just because I won’t turn my back on Riku like you want me to?”Sora asked quietly. Kairi sighed and hugged her books to her chest before she looked at Sora.

“You know what Sora? I really don’t want to deal with this right now. Go see Riku and I’ll see you later when ever you find time for me.”Kairi said as she walked off leaving Sora there. Sora shook his head before he started walking the opposite direction not even noticing he was going straight into the bad parts of the town that Riku had warned him many times not to go into alone. Sora was so upset though he didn’t notice.

Riku was leaning against a light post a few blocks down. He was smoking a cigarette and was just enjoying the peace and quiet. He had skipped his classes which really wasn’t a surprise anymore. Riku figured the teachers had figured out by now to just add his name to the absence list and not try to find him. If he didn’t want to be found he wouldn’t be. It was one of the few times lately that Riku wasn’t high. He hadn’t shot up at all that day and was quite sober. But the use of his drugs had gotten worse since he had gotten the new drug. It was showing is lis looks too. He had dark circles under his eyes making him look almost like a walking zombie. He was aware of what he had been doing to Sora and found himself hating himself for making Sora worry so much. If Riku was in his right mind he would have been worried about himself.

Riku looked up and took a deep drag of his cigarette finishing it off before he put it out. He just happens to look over at the right time to see Sora walk down the street by himself. Riku could definitely tell it was Sora and that Sora hadn’t seen him yet. Riku straightened up and raised an eyebrow. He couldn’t tell Sora was upset but he started walking towards Sora when Sora suddenly made a sharp corner into an alley. Riku frowned and started running to catch up to him.

“what the hell are you doing Sora? Its dangerous in this part of town…”Riku said to himself before he walked down the alley and seen Sora gone.

“Shit…why does he have to pull these fucking disappearing acts? Come on where are you Sora?” Riku said as he looked around trying to see Sora if he turned another corner.

Sora wasn’t even aware of where he was going anymore. He quickly found himself turned around and started cursing under his breath as he tried to figure out where he was. Before he had a chance to react five figures had walked up to him and one of them had grabbed Sora’s hair pulling his head back. Two more grabbed his arms as he cried out. When Sora could actually see them he seen that all of the figures were distinctively male. The two holding his arms was both brunettes with a punk look to them. The one that had grabbed Sora’s hair was a blonde with spiked hair and a lip ring while another blonde walked up to Sora eyeing him up and down. All of them were dressed in black a couple of them in black leather with black t-shirts. The blonde that started eyeing Sora laughed as he seen Sora’s caught in the headlights expression.

“Look I don’t know what you want from me….but please just let me go!”Sora almost pleaded. The blonde in front of him took a hold of Sora’s chin and tilted his head up looking over his features. The blonde had three eyebrow rings and his ears had about ten piercings in ear ear. He had a nose ring and a tongue ring that noone could see unless he stuck his tongue out. There was a raven-haired kid leaning against the wall behind the pierced blonde. The blonde was lithe and tall but the others all had some muscle to them.

“My my my, I think we caught something boys….”The pierced blonde said with a laugh. The two holding Sora’s arms smirked as Sora started trying to get out of their grasp. One of them twisted Sora’s arm so hard it almost broke and caused Sora to scream and drop his book bag.

Riku heard Sora scream and knew he couldn’t be too far. Riku took off running in the direction he heard the scream. Sora’s eyes widened as the pierced blonde cupped his chin roughly and forced him to look at the man. The blonde chuckled before almost gently tracing Sora’s lips with his thumb. Sora tried to bite his finger and that brought another chuckle before Sora found the blonde’s fist in his stomach causing him to double over and cough. The other two made Sora stand up after he was hit in the stomach.

“You’re pretty…..maybe too pretty…..I have to admit…..I wonder if you’re a girl or a guy…..”The blonde said before he suddenly grabbed Sora’s crotch hard enough to cause pain as Sora whimpered and fought even more before he found his already injured arm-twisted again. The blonde leaned over and whispered in Sora’s ear.

“But fuckable all the same….even if you do have a cock…doubt you know what to do with it though huh baby?” The blonde whispered before he ran his tongue slowly up Sora’s ear causing Sora to shudder.

Suddenly the blonde that had been groping Sora found himself thrown into the wall behind him. The brunette that was twisting Sora’s arm got back fisted making him drop Sora’s arm and let go of Sora. Riku was standing there before he punched the pierced blond and obliviously the leader of their gang of punks as hard as he could in the stomach. The raven-haired kid that was leaning against the wall Riku from behind and started just laying into Riku causing Riku to cry out from the sudden blows. He backed up and rammed the raven haired right into the brick wall as hard as he could until he dropped off of Riku’s shoulders. The pierced blond scowled and stood up before looking at the other guy holding Sora.

“Hold him! We’ll take care of him after this nut case.” The blonde said. Riku looked up at the blond before laying a punch right across his face. Sora watched in awe as Riku was fighting now three guys at once the other two were trying to hold Sora. Sora shook himself from his thoughts and elbowed the guy holding his other arm as hard as he could multiple times. Riku had taught him how to fight somewhat…but he wasn’t the world’s best fighter. Sora turned around and punched the other brunette that tried to grab him punching him with his good arm.

Riku had looked over at Sora to see if he was ok. It was a big mistake on Riku’s part. He had been fighting the three off fairly well but when he turned his attention he found a fist right in his face knocking him back. The moment he was knocked bacl thl three of the punks had ganged up on Riku and started punching him and kicking him as much as they could. Sora’s eyes had widened before he kicked the one he was fighting back straight into a metal dumpster his head hitting the bar and knocking him out. Sora held his arm before he then ran to Riku to try and help him. Riku seen Sora come near him and he held his arms in a defensive position protecting his ribs as much as possible but one of the punks had kicked Riku’s legs out from under him and all of them kicking Riku as hard as they could Riku crying out in pain his mouth already gushing blood.

“Sora! Go! Run damn it! Don’t worry about me!”Riku cried out before the pierced blonde kicked him right in the stomach. Sora’s eyes widened when he seen one of them pull out atchbtchblade knife. Sora shook his head before he rushed the kid with the knife and slammed him against the wall punching him with everything he had.

Suddenly sirens could be heard and the punks looked at each other before then starting to run off. The blonde kicked Riku as hard as he could in the ribs one last time before he ran off the other three getting their unconscious friend. Sora walked over to his friend with tears in his eyes. Riku was coughing up blood and was barely recognizable he was so beat up. Sora’s arm started to swell and he had a busted lip. Sora dropped to his knees and reached over with one hand trying to help Riku. Riku had saved him. He had stopped those guys. Sora wiped his eyes as he seen his friend and he looked up seeing a police car stop. Someone had called the cops apparently. Sora just watched as the police officer came up to him and Riku before calling in an ambulgence.

Several hours later Sora was sitting in the waiting room his arm in a sling and his lip cleaned up. Sora’s mother came running in the moment she hearra wra was at the hospital. She was a fairly tall woman with chocolate brown hair and sapphire blue eyes. It was clear that Sora had his mother’s eyes.

“Sora! Oh honey are you ok?!”Sora’s mother cried as she ran to him. Sora just nodded before looking at his mom his voice cracking.

“mom….Riku….he saved me….”Sora started. Sora’s mom hugged her son and stroked his hair.

“What happened Sora?” his mom asked with a soft voice.

“They beat him up mom……he’s been inside for sometime now…I haven’t heard anything but they beat him up badly.”Sora said. Just then Riku’s foster mother and father came in. Sora looked up at Riku’s foster mother and looked miserable before he looked down burying his face in his hand.

Riku’s foster mother smiled comfortingly at Sora before the doctor walked out reading the charts on Riku.

“Are you the guardians of the young man brought in here not too long ago?” The doctor asked. The doctor was a man in his mid 40’s and had slightly graying hair. Riku’s foster mother nodded.

“You mean Riku? Is he ok?!” She shrieked. The doctor held his hands up and gave a light smile.

“Your son has two broken ribs, a fractured rib on the left side as where his broken ones are on the right side. He also has a pretty good gash above his eye. Lots of bruises including a black eye…..but…there’s something very troubling that came back in your son’s blood work.” The doctor explained. Riku’s foster mother gasped before looking at the doctor to continue. Riku’s foster father just listened with an almost impassive look on his face.

“The blood work came back showing high levels of a liquid suppressant I’ve never seen before. Ma’am I’m afraid your son has been taking narcotics. We also found needle marks on his arms. Do you have any idea what he might have been taking or how long this has went on?” The doctor asked. Riku’s mother’s eyes widened as she looked horrified clear she never knew.

“Riku…..my baby….let me see him please doctor…”The woman cried. The doctor nodded and led her to where Riku was. Sora looked at Riku’s foster father and almost cringed at the look the older man gave him. Riku’s foster father shook his head before looking at Sora.

“All this….for you…hmph…hardly seems worth it to me.” He said. Sora’s mother scowled and looked at the man.

“That is uncalled for you have no right to speak to my son like this. Riku saved my son I am very grateful to him.” She said. The man just looked at her and walked on. Sora frowned the words playing back into his mind. Sora stood up before he walked to the window of Riku’s hospital room. Riku was laying there in the hospital bed in bandages and an IV hooked up to him. He was apparently asleep as Sora leaned his head against the glass of the window.

“Oh god Riku……drugs? Why are you taking drugs? Why that?…..what is it you’re hiding that would drive you to this……”Sora whispered to himself.

“you got hurt because of me….you’re in the hospital because of me Riku…..but regardless of what your dad says……”Sora whispered even lower so noone could hear him. Sora closed his eyes feeling his mom’s arms wrap around him and tried to think of anything but his best friend laying in a hospital bed in the next room. It didn’t work however.
