I do not own Soul Caliber, nor any of the characters from it. I do not make any money from the writing of this story.
"Who is THIS pussy?!"
I call in sick for a week to ponder what Toranaga said. “Yeah, uh, *VERY real sounding cough* I’ve got bronch…Doctor says I can’t come *another fake but real sounding cough* to work for a week.”
The next week, I get fired. Real fucking cute.
I decide to go to the paintball range to feel better. It’s only a couple of stores down, so I’m happy.
To my great surprise, Dave is there. Dave is my ex boyfriend. For two years, he abused me and took everything that I owned and gave all my things and his love to some redhead slut who was blowing him at the time. We never had sex; I didn’t think I was ready. That’s why he left me.
Why did I stick with him for two years? A: he gave me a car that HE filled the tank on. The car is legally mine and he can’t take it. B: I know it sounds naïve, but I just couldn’t live without him…I finally opened my eyes after Marisol practically dragged me to an abused women’s shelter.
I don’t care, life sucks, move on.
“Hey, Jade.” He sidles up to me and puts his arm around my waist. I shove it off. “What’s the matter, baby?”
“Go blow a donkey.” I retort. No love lost between us, now is there?
“You know you want me…” Dave leers and gropes my ass.
Out of pure anger and reflex, I grab his wrist, twist it so that Dave’s in front of me—“OW!! You BITCH!!”—and push him out of the store. Once outside the store, I throw him to the ground.
“Don’t you EVER touch me like that again!” I shout. Someone puts a hand on my shoulder. I whirl around, ready to rip out someone’s throat—Dave usually has buddies-- and see Hei-san behind me.
“Jade-chan, daijoubu?”
“Who the fuck is THIS pussy?!” Dave is already on his feet.
Hei-san just raises an eyebrow and stares Dave down. Picture this: a six foot one very muscular guy staring down a five five, 120 soaking wet WWF wanna be nerd. Kinda scary, huh? And he seems to pick up on the fact that Dave is insulting him…
Hei-san is unarmed; I’ve gotten him used to walking around without a sword. Dave, on the other hand, has a knife, which he just pulls and grins visciously. “Ain’t no pretty boy gonna take you from me, Jade…” He lunges at Hei-sahn, who pushes me aside and sticks out his foot.
Dave goes sprawling over it, which would have been funny had he not had a knife. He recovers quickly and lunges again; this time Hei-san is ready. At the very last second, he reaches out a hand and grabs Dave’s wrist—the one with the knife in it. He flips it, flipping Dave forward and down.
Dave is stunned; Hei-san takes the knife out of his hand, flods it up and sticks it in his pocket. “Go home.” He says to Dave. Without looking back, Hei-san puts an arm around my shoulder and guides me to my car, my legs shaking. The crowd applauds and Dave scurries away like the rat he is.
Once we reach my car, Hei-san stands in front of me. “Who was that man?”
“Dave…my moto-kareshi…” [ex boyfriend] Suddenly, I break down into tears. Hei-san wraps strong arms around me and I sob into his chest. “He did bad things to me…he hurt me…he didn’t love me…”
Hei-san just holds me tighter. I’m grateful.
He scoops me up and places me in the passenger side. “Whoa—wait a second...you can’t drive!”
“How hard is it?” Hei-san starts the car. He fumbles for the brake. “Uhhh…”
“Move over.” We switch places and I start up the car and we go home.
There’s a message on my antiquated answering machine; it’s Toranaga-san. “Jade, you need to get doen here right away; I have something to show up. It’s…” The machine goes on to time—like five minutes ago—and I stop it.
“Hei-san! We have to go out again.”
We get to the school and Toranaga-san’s in the middle of a class. He looks at me and then tells the class to do some work in the book while he runs an errand. He quickly pulls me to his office, followed by Hei-san.
The teacher reaches into his pocket and pulls out a tiny metal shard. “Is that what I think it is?” I whisper.
He nods and presses it into my hands. “Get out of the city.” Then he goes back into class.
