XXX.

"I can decide what Kano can and cannot make use of."

Ah, that's right. Thane was her boss. How could she have forgotten that? Easy. She always worked solo. Not to mention she blindly followed any command given by Quan Chi. The female wasn't made to think properly until years later on. Of course this was such a long time ago when Quan Chi was still learning. Way before he mastered the ability. So of course there had been a lot of trail and error.

Just like her.

His death only left her incomplete.

Kalypso nodded in agreement. Despite not actually agreeing with him. He maybe her boss but she still viewed Kano as the boss. She's never worked for an organization that had multiple bosses with only one leader. But she wasn't stupid. Thane put her in her place. That was that.

"He already has a base of operations, and I'm not entirely certain that we couldn't make use of this space for our own purposes..."

Her expression was stoic on the outside but inside, the first thought that went in her head was along the lines of, 'did he intend to betray Kano?' And have her his compliance in the process? That wasn't something she was signing up for. She needed to be in this organization to better understand the world she woke up to. And to keep up with current events. She didn't need this taur-dragon fucking it up for her.

Without any proof there was nothing she could do. So she would remain open minded by it.

"As a dragon, I have not yet taken a proper den for myself, even despite the luxury and lodgings provided to me by Kano."

At this, she frowned in confusion.

"What I take for myself is not a thievery from him. As one of his leaders, what I take for myself only adds to the power of those who work for him. Should I take this cave as my own, that only gives Kano a more substantiated member of the Black Dragon; it is not the same as pilfering his spoils from a conquest directly."

Now why on earth would Kano allow this? What kind of leader was he? Humans were strange. It would be best to pay attention to the way they do things.

"Furthermore, you have impressed me during this outing."

One eyebrow quirk upwards. Really? That's all that it took? Swimming underwater, doing nothing but unblocking a wall with lightening? She hadn't even showed off and that's all took from it in the short time span of being together. Either he has poor judgement on a character or has been around humans far too long.

Well, best to not question it.

"I have no interest in becoming a right hand-female." Kalypso admitted. Honestly, she had no intention of staying with the organization. She was here to learn then leave. Yes, she was full aware of the mark that would be placed on her back. But what difference did that make now then it did a millennium ago? "Nor do I have interest in raising in rank. But thank you."

"If finding our location becomes important then I can fly us up through the ceiling at any moment. And I admit that proceeding further to find what lies beneath would be enticing. Or, for at least the moment, we could stay... right here."

This time she scowled at him silently.

Why?

That seemed like a waste of time. There was nothing to do. They came here and she was interested to see if she could remember this place. For once it would be nice to find something of familiarity.

But since he gave her options, she turned around with a flick of her tail. "I'm going to explore. You can rest if you would like." Besides, she was a warrior. It was hard wire into her to scout foreign area. Even if it was her's, she'd scout it regardless to make sure the preminater was locked down.

Safe.

The hole she had made for him, allowed her to walk on ahead. There was no need to go down the cave or through the ceiling. Perhaps after she scouted the are she may find a place to rest. But for now she made her down the path. One that was either made by nature or nature itself was claiming back. Hard to tell. Since many of the tunnels often lead to places that were once filled with civilization.

They had yet to stumble upon intellgiant beings, they would be hear some birds and insects. They'd come across the occasional bunny. Other larger creatures began to appear the further she walked. These were unusual. Although given the age, they were most likely evolved forms. "Well, there's dinner if you're interested in." She'd say if Thane followed her by pointing out the mountain of a bear sleeping in a distance. This bear was huge, unlike the ones above. This bear also had large tusks as well.

However, something caught Kalypso's attention. The way it echoed unbeknownist to others ears. Her tail flicked with excitement. An involuntary reaction since, unlike her wings, she had no damn control over it.

Something was coming.

She tensed up and took a mild step back, trying to gather her senses. Suddenly the hurried sounds surrounded them. Then from above the trees and out of the bushes, they were swarm by a group of tribal humans. Bows and spears were pointed at them. They wore war paint, tattered clothes made from the skin of animals. Beads and feathers included in their hair as well.

But because neither of them have yet to attack and that, basically, Thane and her were intruders, Kalypso made no attempt to attack.

A large man stepped forward. By large, not only was he tall but he was packed with muscles and covered in scars. He pushed up his skeletal mask and spoke. To the humans above, this would be a dead language.

Kalypso smirk. "Sumerian." Finally, a language in the human realm that she knew! The man spoke aggressively. Kalyspo spoke back. There was some words exchanged before the man huffed then turned away.

"They would like us to follow them." Kalypso turned to Thane.
