A Video Message
In Dr. Cain's lab, everything was quiet. Even the humming of the monitors could not be heard by X. Too much was running through his head. Sigma's final defensive line, the whereabouts of Dr. Cain, his injuries, Zero...
"Zero...Dammit I will not let you die in vain! Urrgh!"
X mashed his hand on the computer console in frustration, booting up the main screen.
"VIDEO MESSAGE FOR MEGA MAN X. DO YOU WISH TO OPEN?"
'A message from Dr. Cain?' thought X to himself as he entered his command code into the console. Unfortunately he was not greeted by the cheerful Doctor, but instead a cackling Reploid in green armour and clad in a velvet red cape.
"BWAHAHAHA! Hello, X!"
X crammed his face up to within inches of the screen.
"Sigma! You bastard!"
Sigma had Dr. Cain bound at the hands and feet, holding him high in the air with only one of his fearsome arms.
"Did you really think Dr. Cain was nestled safely in his precious hiding spot? A small fleet of Mavericks found him cowering in some half-hearted bomb shelter underneath his house."
Dr. Cain could not break from the icy grip of Sigma. He wrestled and twitched, but was immobile.
"Get out of here, X! Don't worry about me! Just take one of the escape chutes and leave the city!"
Sigma slammed Dr. Cain into the ground, cutting open his face and dazing him.
"You know you won't leave, X. We're destined to meet in the heat of battle. Dr. Cain will be waiting for you at the old base ruins, if you even make it back there. You know the coordinates of my true base. I just hope you're worth as much as the good doctor says you are."
"END OF VIDEO RECORDING. DO YOU WISH TO WATCH AGAIN?"
Before the computer voice could even finish the sentence, X was already preparing for battle. Fully recharged and at maximum strength, X could do nothing but give it his all in the final confrontation. He teleported to Sigma's base, ready to fight.
"Zero...Dammit I will not let you die in vain! Urrgh!"
