The Beginning

"W-What!?" Primus exclaimed still stunned at what his Legate had just told him.  "Don't act so dumbstruck boy" the Legate replied commandingly "Your the most well rounded Legionary we have, and the Dragon born here" gesturing to Bera

"Needs a companion while she helps us win the war".  Bera Olesthal, also known as the Dragon born, stood smugly with her arms crossed, now leaning up against the table clearly amused by Primus's reaction.

"Now you know the drill Primus, you need to say the oath" the Legate stated coldly, almost as if holding back his true sentiments for his brightest legionary.  Primus began autonomously "I Primus, hereby swear my undying loyalty and service to whom i am assigned" pausing to glare at Bera.

"The Dragon born, Bera Olesthal" before letting out breath he had been holding in, which condensed the second it left his lips in the frigid Skyrim weather.  "Now i believe you two have your orders from Tullius himself?"  stated the Legate coldly.  "Right we do" replied Bera, pushing herself off of the table, and lifting up a bag Primus did not notice at her feet "Well common Primus, we've got places to go people to kill, come along" walking briskly past him.  Primus exchanged one last salute with his, now former, Legate who returned the gesture before turning back to the map with red a blus flags marking the Imperial and rebel bases.

Primus exited the tent, walking over to the other tent he had called home for the past few months and gathered what little belongings he had.  He made sure he got everything, a Bow and quiver with 30 steel arrows which he counted every night to make sure he did not lose any, a fine Imperial sword honed to a razors sharpness, his studded imperial armor, his back up light set of armor with matching boots and bracers, and finally his imperial light helmet passed down for generations in his family.  He shouldered his extra equipment that he was not wearing in a burlap sack over his shoulder and turned to where the Bera was resting on a stump near the center of the camp.  "Done?" she said briskly while she examined what looked like an elven arrow with both hands.

"Yes ready to be off when you are ma'am" puffing his chest out proudly, while on the inside he was saddened to see his brothers for the last time for a while.  He took time to look at each one performing their assigned task, all orderly, all proud in their duties.  Primus was going to miss this.

Bera stood up and put the arrow back into her bag "Then lets not waste time, common we got a long road ahead" turning a walking towards a thick clump of trees to the east of the camp.  Primus walked after her not looking back at his family working tirelessly as they had every day before.  Primus quickly caught up with Bera and came up next to her matching her pace as they walked deeper into the forest.  "So why does the almighty Dragon Born need a companion anyway? couldn't you just shout your way through anything?" Primus said almost teasingly, although the light heartedness was drowned in how tragic of a moment this was for Primus.

"Why yes, yes i could" replied Bera "but i need someone to carry all the dragon bones i have to gather" laughing heartily, the chest plate of her armor rising as she does so, causing the blue hue to glint in the sunlight.  "You misunderstand Primus, i don't need you.  I need a reliable companion, considering what a poor job those mercenaries did when dragons surprise them" mumbling under her breath "curse Belrand and Marcurio"

"Anyway i asked General Tullius if i could borrow one of his legionaries for all the dangerous quests i am doing for him, and he recommended you" she continued not pausing or altering her demeanor at all.  Primus was shocked, 'The General Tullius? recommended ME?' his reaction showing on his face, but he quickly shut his gaping mouth and replied calmly "So what am i expected to do while i am in your company?" trying to divert conversation.  He could be proud of himself later, now was the time to figure out what in name of Julianos was going on.

"Just that you need to watch my back, do what i tell you and carry my thing if i ask you" she replied.  Primus glared at her "Now look here i am not some-" but was cut off by a sudden roaring up ahead.  Primus immediately crouched, Bera followed suit.  She whispered "Sounds like a Blood Dragon" Primus replied "What's a Bl-" before getting cut off by another roar.  There was a small clearing just ahead of them, the duo approached slowly.  Primus eyed the clearing carefully noting the flattened art of the grass, just in time to notice a massive shadow growing bigger in the middle of the clearing.  primus barely had time to shout before the monster landed not so gracefully on the grass. Before either of them could move the monster let out its icy breath towards them.
