Grif smiled in his sleep. He felt arms wrapped around him, pulling him back against a warm chest. One leg was arched over his own and he could feel a slight hardness against his lower back.

“Mmn. Tucker…” Grif whispered.

He nestled further back into the warm body. He rubbed back against the other’s groin, listening to moans escape.

The Grif opened his eyes and saw a room he was not expecting. “What the-?”

“Mm? Grif?”

Grif rolled over, disentangling himself from the other. “Church?”

Church blinked sleepily. “Did you sleep alright?”

“Get off of me.”

Church turned a deep red, retreating off of Grif and to his side of the bed. Grif, to his surprise, didn’t follow but instead followed Church. He rested his head against Church’s chest briefly.

“I did sleep well.”

Church tentatively draped an arm over Grif, but that was when Grif left. Church stared out the open door. He heard receding footsteps, then nothing.

If only he had talked to Grif before everything. Before Tucker. If Tucker hadn’t stepped in and seriously fucked everything up…

He blamed Tucker utterly. Church threw back the covers and clomped to the teal soldier’s room. He forced the door open, stepping in.

“What the fuck, man?”

“What the hell did you have in mind?”

Tucker looked up from his bed. “I was sleeping.”

“Not anymore.” Church crossed his arms. “Why are you playing with him?”

“Playing? It’s what we do. Bow Chicka-“

“Shut the fuck up.” Church stomped up to Tucker and grabbed him by the shirt. “You two are through, you hear me?”

“Yes, father.” Tucker snickered.

Church slammed Tucker against the wall before leaving the bedroom. Church angrily made his way back to his room to put on armor. He had to go shoot something.

Church huffed as he left blue base. He didn’t stop until he was outside red base.

“Freeze, ya dirty blue!”

Church sighed. Sarge glared from the top of the base. “Whaddya want, blue?”

“I need to talk- pfft, why am I standing here wasting my time explaining myself to you?” Church walked into the base.

He didn’t make it far before Sarge was in front of him, shotgun held high. Church said coolly. “I need to talk

to one of your privates.”

Donut peeked into the hallway. “Sarge, what’re- oh.”

Church looked to Donut. “Can you tell Grif-“

“I won’t be able to. Sorry.” Donut said softly. “He won’t come out of his room.”

“Fuck. Well, tell him through the door-“

“He won’t hear me.”

Donut entered the room fully and said. “He’s not listening to us.”

“Us?”

“Me’n Simmons.” Donut frowned.

Church barely glanced at Sarge before following Donut into the hallway. “Which room is his?”

Donut knocked on Grif’s door before trying to open it. It was locked, and he looked at Church apologetically.

“Grif, it’s Church.”

“Go away.”

Church sighed. “Would you stop acting like a ten year old and get out here?”

“No.” but they heard the clicking of the door being unlocked.

Donut whispered. “Good luck.” before disappearing down the hallway. Church opened Grif’s door and stepped in.

“What do you want?”

Church told him. “To apologize.”

“For what?”

“This morning, obviously.”

Church collapsed onto his bed. “I don’t know why I stayed, anyway.”

Church turned from him. “Fine, then.”

“Wait.”

Church was taken aback as Grif said, “It… made me feel happy to wake up beside someone that didn’t expect anything…” he left off in embarrassment.

Grif looked away from him. Church was right. He was acting like a ten year old. A somewhat dirty ten year old.

“I should go. Caboose probably has his hand stuck in the fridge door and is letting out all the cold or something.”

“…bye.”

Church hesitated. “Bye.”

Grif left his door open.
