Looking after him

So I thought i would make one with Shadows pov on this story. Let me know what you all think.

Also this one is for RAW19. I was going to post this up but i wasnt finished or thought if i should. So when i saw your praise I got on the ball so this one is for you and let me know what you think. Enjoy!

I love it when it rains it. It makes things seem a little bit sadder. As I continue down the road and look up at the sky I see the clouds becoming grey and a flash of lightning and a bit of a rumble in the distance. ‘Hn. It might be a nice day for a walk.’ I thought.

Maria always wanted to come down here and see and feel what rain and thunder would feel like. I kept on walking down the road passing many houses and then as I pass a park I see couples of old people in the park some bread in their hand and throwing it at the birds. I wonder what Maria would’ve thought about feeding birds, I am sure she would’ve loved doing that. I kept on walking down the street as I reach a little store I walk in and think about buying some bread. As I walk up to the counter to pay for the bread I realized I forgot my wallet all I have in my pocket is a one I need two more.

“It seems that I don’t have enough for this. I guess I’ll put it back.” As I begin to pull away from the counter a familiar voice comes up behind me. I turn around to see her with a big smile on her face. . “Hi Mr. Shadow. You dropped this outside.” Says Cream and hands me a five dollar bill. I look at you and take the five dollars and give it to the man at the counter. As he puts my bread in a bag I leave with a ‘Hn.’ as I go out the door I see you waving bye to me as I continue to walk down the street back to the park.

As I reached the park and start pulling pieces of bread of and throwing it on the ground some birds from the trees start coming down and eating what I have.
‘I forgot my wallet at home I know that, that money wasn’t mine.’ I think as I keep on feeding the birds.
‘She was just trying to be friendly. She is always friendly. She was raised that way. She is a sweet girl.’ I thought throwing the last piece of bread to the birds on the ground.

“Complete and utter nonsense.” I say looking up at the sky. I start to feel water coming down slowly and land on my hand, then my arm, and finally my face. I look down and see all the birds grab what little crumbs were left and fly up into the trees. I’ve always loved the rain. Maria always wanted to know what it would feel like when it hits your face. I throw my head back as the rain starts coming down faster, and close my eyes.
‘It feels like it could almost wash away your problems. Almost.’

I bask in the rain not caring about my fur getting drenched until I feel the rain stop. I still hear it but I can’t feel it. As I slowly start to open my eyes I look in front of me and I see you holding your umbrella over me letting it protect me and allow yourself to get wet.

“Your getting wet Cream.” I say as you smile at me. “So are you Mr. Shadow. I wouldn’t want you to get sick. Poor Cheese got sick so I am bringing him some medicine.” She said still holding the umbrella over me. I look at you’re face getting hit with the water and your dress start to get wet.

“You can walk with me to my house Mr. Shadow and you can stay there until the storm blows over.” I stare back up at you as you knowing you weren’t going to stop. I slowly get up and snatch the umbrella out of your hands walking out of the park. I turn to you, “Come on you’re getting wet.” I say as I see you bound over to me under the safety of the umbrella. As we start to walk I guess I will break the silence this time.

“You know you didn’t have to help me back there.” I say not looking at you. “I know.” I hear and nothing else. The next thing I know I see Cream dash out from the umbrella and jump into a puddle wetting your shoes and dress. Again. I keep on walking up to you and stare at you.

“Cheese is sick and you’re splashing into puddles. Keep this up kid and you will be joining him in bed rest.” You look back at me and smile.

“I’m already soaking wet what’s a little more?” says the rabbit.

“When we get to your house think of what your mother is going to say.” I say and then grab your hands so we can continue walking. Finally after awhile we reach the house and walk inside.

“Cream you are soaking wet. Look at your dress and your shoes…did you jump in a puddle young lady?” I hear as I turn around I see Vanilla looking at her daughter seriously. “You go into your room and change into some dry clothes.” Cream walks away and returns shortly with a towel in hand and walks back to her room.

“Hello Vanilla.” I say simply not sure what to say.

“Mr. Shadow nice to see you. Thank you for walking Cream home. When it rains she loves it but, but when thunder comes she shakes something fierce.” I listen and dry off with the towel given to me. Didn’t think Cream was scarred of thunder but then again she is still a little girl. “I hope you will be staying with us until this storm blows over.” Says Vanilla.

“No my house is a few miles outside of town I could just run back home.” I say until Vanilla looks at me with a stern face. I might actually be scared she really doesn’t give a face like that.

“I will not hear of it. A big storm coming, at least let me show my gratitude and invite you to stay the night in one of our rooms. So might as well take off your shoes and set them by the fire place so they can dry off.” I look at her in shock and slowly nod my head agreeing to stay. I’m afraid to say no you might hurt me in some crazy rabbit way.

“Good well I am going to take this medicine to Cheese and come back and make some cocoa. Please make yourself at home.” She says and walks away. I slowly sit on the couch and take my shoes off setting them by the fire place. I hear a door close and look over to the hallway and I see Cream walk out in yellowish, orange pj’s and sit next to me. Soon after Vanilla brings us some hot cocoa and we quietly sip until I hear the phone ring. Vanilla walks over to the phone and answers it.

“Hello…” she says into the phone.
“Amy. How are you, dear?” as I sip my cocoa I look up after hearing Vanilla gasp in surprise at whatever Amy was telling her over the phone.

“Oh No! How terrible. Well I’ve got some extra candles and lighters. I will be right over. No, Cheese is sick he couldn’t…and there is a storm front coming. Well why don’t you come on over here we have a spare bed room.” Says Vanilla. I look down at Cream as she was starring at me sipping my cocoa as I continue to listen to half of the conversation.

“Oh Dear. Poor Sonic…Oh my. All three of them? Well I’ll be right over and bring some supplies. No, Cream can stay here. She isn’t alone Mr. Shadow is here. Alright I will be right over. Bye.” I look at Vanilla hang up the phone and walk over to us on the couch.

“Cream, Mr. Shadow there is a problem. Amy’s’ apartment building lost its power and she has no heat. Mr. Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles all got sick while sparring in the rain. So I am going to go over there and help her attend to the sick ones. You wouldn’t mind looking after Cream while I’m gone do you Mr. Shadow?” she walks over to the hallway closet not even giving me a chance to retort anything in the matter. I watch her grab a first aid kit and some medicine and pack it up.

“Why don’t I go and give her the stuff for them I could reach her faster.” I say wanting to help in any way I can.

“I know you could but she needs help taking care of them. I don’t think you would want to help take care of Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles. They need a woman’s touch.” She says packing up the rest of her stuff. I don’t bother arguing I do agree in that what would I do once I got there? I’m not a healing type of hog. Coming out of my thoughts I see Vanilla walk over to Cream with her bonnet and umbrella and her bag of first aid in her hands. She turns around directing her attention to us as we keep sipping our cocoa.

“Cream, Mr. Shadow was going to stay the night when I heard of the thunder storm. Show him to the guest room. Don’t sleep with Cheese he’s sick, and you can sleep in my room. Behave for Mr. Shadow and I’ll be back in the morning. I’ll call you on Amy’s’ cell phone when I get there.” She says kissing Cream on the head and walks out the door. We continue to sit in front of the fire place listening to the fire crackle as I feel you get up from my side.

“Did you finish your cocoa Mr. Shadow? Would you like some more?” asks Cream taking my mug from me and walking into the kitchen. As I sit there starring at the fire I hear a loud thunder crack. Next thing I see is you dashing from the kitchen and jump onto the sofa and cling to me tightly.

“What’s wrong? Don’t like the thunder?” I ask knowing the answer.
“I love it when it rains don’t get me wrong it helps the plants grow, but I can’t stand thunder.” You say still holding on to me. Next thing I know I am wrapping my arms around you.

“Don’t worry I am here.” I say looking down at your smile and avert your attention to the fire. As I continue to watch you a small smile graces my lips. ‘Sweet Girl.’ I thought looking into the fire. Soon after I hear the phone ringing and you get up to answer it.

“Hello. Cream speaking, May I ask who’s calling Please?” I hear. ‘Polite too.’
“Mother did you make it alright to Amy’s? How are Mr. Sonic, Tails and Knuckles?” I stay seated listening to the conversation.
“Okay see you in the morning. Good night Mother. I love you.” I hear you say into the phone with a smile. “Good night mother.” You say and hang up the phone.

“Mother made it to Amy’s; she says Mr. Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles are fine and going to bed. And told me to tell you Goodnight and Thank You.”
‘At least she made it safely.’

“Glad she made it. It’s getting late we should head to bed.” I say getting up. I see you walking towards me and grab my hand leading my down the hallway to the bed rooms.

“This is your room Mr. Shadow. I hope you will be comfortable.” You say showing me my room.

“Thank you Cream. Goodnight.” I say and walk into my room. “Good night Mr. Shadow Mother’s room is down the hall and Cheese is right next to it.” You say closing the door behind you. I take a quick look around the room seeing the bed in the corner with a yellow blanket and white linens. ‘At least it doesn’t have frills on it.’ I thought and climb into the bed and fall asleep.

Crack

I slowly start to wake up and crack open an eye seeing shimmers of light flashing through the window. ‘Thunder.’ I thought and close my eyes trying to recapture my sleep.

KABOOM!

I hear another a bit louder this time. Soon I hear some movement outside my door and close my eyes knowing it’s you. I hear the turning of the knob and the door slowly open and gentle footsteps coming closer to me.

“Couldn’t sleep?” I ask opening my eyes to see you on the floor trembling. I didn’t think you would scare so easily. I scoot over and lift up the blanket giving you a silent sign to join me. “Is it okay if I sleep with you Mr. Shadow?” you ask in a hushed voice. “I wouldn’t be holding this blanket up for nothing. Come on.” I say and watch you get up from the floor and jump into bed with me and I cover us with the blanket.

“Thank you Mr. Shadow. I really don’t like thunder.” You say snuggling into the bed. “Hn. What about Cheese? Isn’t he scared?” I ask facing you. “No Cheese can sleep through anything.” You say yawning. I shrug at the answer and close my eyes.

CRASH! KA-BOOM!

At that instant I feel two tiny arms wrap around me in a death grip and a trembling body and a whimper coming from the little rabbit. “I’m scared!” I hear you say gripping me tighter. I slowly wrap my arm around you and tilt your head up so you are looking at me.

“You’re safe with me. I wouldn’t let anything happen to you.” I say and lean down and place a kiss on your forehead. You stare up at me in surprise and smile. I smile back as you lay your head on my chest. Soon I see you fall fast asleep in my arms. I smile wrapping my arms tightly around you.

I am Shadow the Hedgehog no one can touch me but this little girl has managed to brake down my barriers and wrap me around her little finger. It’s interesting how you are so brave little one and yet scare so easily at the simplest things. I’ve seen you go up against robots and bullies ten times your size yet you manage to come out protecting those close to you. You saved me at the market and from the rain. I guess even us big shots need looking after and while you do that little one I will protect you. I look back down at your sleeping form and kiss your head again before I drift off to sleep.
