I'm over it!
Oh my god it's been a while since I published this story. Ive been so busy! With school, finals and graduation to worry about, and work, I was to tired to think about writing. That and I had to write chapter 2. Tee hee. But anyway I'll try better. Oh and thank you to all who have reviewed my story! Enjoy!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~*~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~*
"Now if you add the sum of all of the sides of your shape, you should get the first part of your equation, which is your area..." Explained the math teacher that was trying to prepare his students for there next big test. This was something he wouldn't normally do but instead of coping his teachers helpful hints, Riku just doodled on his piece of paper that was originally for notes. Even though he should be paying attention, he found it almost impossible to do that, Riku's mind seemed to be focused on something else.
"Hey Riku. Do you know how to work this equation?" Riku was interrupted from his train of thought by Sora, who was pointing at a problem he had been working on. It took him to realize that it had been a while since he zoned out. His annoying teacher had finally stopped talking and gave them the rest of the class to work on there review and study for there test next class. But he was too out of it to really notice. Riku looked the problem his friend was pointing at and gave him a I-don't-know shrug.
"Did you even pay attention at all today?" Sora looked at the piece of paper that was in front of his friends to see little sketches of random things.
"A little" Riku responed back with a non caring attitude and went back to doodling.
The both of them spent the rest of class sitting quietly next to each other, not so much as a glance. In a way it felt kind of awkward to the keyblade wielder, this was something that did not happen often. After there 1st period was over, the two of them pack there stuff and walked to there next class in silence.
'Its quite again. I wonder what's wrong with him?' Sora looked at his friend and opened his mouth to say something to break the ice but found nothing coming out of his mouth. Well so much for trying. Since Riku was the oldest out of the three of them, he was in a higher grade in them. Riku was a senior while Kairi and Sora were both juniors, which meant that there were some classes they were unable to share together. Before they separated, Sora waved a see-you-later- wave and walked to his class.
Riku's next class was English for him and he wasn't really thrilled about going, since they happened to be reading Hamlet and old English wasn't his strength. But amazingly he managed to pay attention, sort of. They read half of act three and discussed what was going on and what the character's were talking about. The only time he paid attention was to do an in class assignment that was due at the end of class. As much as he would like to blow it off, Riku wasn't in the mood for a zero and since he sat right next to his teacher's desk there was no way she was going to let him sit and do nothing. He may not look it but Riku was a pretty smart and good kid. He pretty much got straight A's all the time, part of that was because he didn't want to lose to Sora in there little competition they had. In a way Riku kind of viewed himself as one of the bright, lazy, genius that came along once in a while...yeah right.
With the end of Shakespeare's rambling, and doing some work, class was over for the silver haired teen. As much as he hated to admit it but he was dreading going to his next class. His next class was psychology, which happened to be a class he shared with Sora and Kairi.
"Hi Sora. Hi Riku." Kairi greeted as one walked in after the other.
Hi Kairi." Sora greeted back to the girl.
"Hey." The two brunette's stared at there friend as he sat down at his desk, and locked his gaze into one of his textbooks. Hearing Riku say something after a while took Sora by surprise but was glad that his best friend was showing some kind of sign that he was alive. Kairi looked at Sora to ask what was wrong with there silver haired friend but was interrupted as the bell for class to begin rang and the teacher ordered his students to have a seat.
It was bad enough for Riku to zone out in math class and English but he found himself unable to focus in this class to. He wasn't really sure what was bothering him, or maybe deep down he knew what was bothering him and he refused to even think about it.
'Why am I letting some dream that has no meaning to me, get to me?' He told himself that he wasn't going to go near this subject but what else was there to do? Pay attention in class? No way! Doodling was out of the question since he happened to be low on paper and he wasn't in the mood to ask the one person he was...avoiding? That seemed to ponder his head for a little while. Going over the details in his head, Riku saw no real reason to avoid his best friend.
'Whatever dream that was has nothing to do with me.' Was what he declared to himself as he moved on to something else. Besides if he kept on worrying, his friends might get curious and ask him what was on his mind. With a declaration of never speaking about his little dream, Riku looked up from his desk and looked at what was written on the board.
"Eh." Ok maybe he wasn't going to pay attention right now as he looked back at his desk. But he was no longer a troubled boy! After all that thinking to himself made him hungry and lucky for him, it was time for lunch.
"Same spot?" Kairi asked them.
"Yup." Sora answered in one of his cheerful moods.
"Kay, I'll wait for yall." Most of the students would eat there lunch in the cafeteria but for the three of them, it was way to noisy and crowded for them. So they would sit under a shady tree and eat there lunch together.
"Go on ahead without me. I left my lunch in my locker." Sora said to Riku. If it's one thing Sora learned the hard way, it would have to be eating cafeteria food. At first he didn't mind paying and eating it until he had a most recent bad experience. His food was horrible, it tasted funny which did not react well with his stomach. It was so bad that he had to stay home the next day for food poising. So from now on he would make his lunch everyday.
"Ok. Want anything?" The silver haired teen offered.
"No thanks. I'm fine."
'He looks a little better now. This morning he barley even said anything to me. Well what ever it was is not bothering him anymore.' Seeing that his friend was back to his normal self left a smile on the keyblade wielder. Sora left Riku and proceeded to his locker.
"Here." Riku tossed a Coke can to Sora as the keyblade wielder joined him and Kairi.
"Oh thank you. You didn't have to." He started to protest as he joined his friends.
"Oh yeah Sora I wanted to ask you something." Riku looked at the keyblade wielder. "Can I borrow you math notes?"
"Sure." Sora chuckled as he remembered why Riku didn't have the notes in the first place. "To busy day dreaming and drawing to pay attention in class?" He teased.
"Maybe. But hearing quadratic equations coming out an adults mouth for an hour and a half is annoying."
"I guess you got a point there. But don't forget that you need that class to graduate Riku." Sora pointed out.
"Gee thanks mom."
"Your welcome! Anyway, I'll give them to you when lunch is over."
"Thanks Sora."
They ate there lunch and chatted for a little while before it was time to head to there next class. But the next class for Sora and Riku was study hall but for Kairi, her next class was gym. Riku and Sora both signed up for study hall as there last class for the day because it was easier for them to do there homework now , instead of worrying about doing it later. Kairi on the other hand thought that it was easier to take gym as your class of the day so that way you didn't have to worry about smelling through out the day. So there 4th period was another class they didn't share together.
Study hall can be pretty boring if you don't have anything to do. Luckily for the two of them they had a math test to study for and other homework they received for the day. Normally Riku would just sleep and do nothing for most of the period, but with his doodling mood in math he got a little behind and was copying Sora's notes.
"Even if I copy all of your notes, I still don't understand it." Complained Riku as he stared at a notebook full of notes that sound so foreign to him. Even with example problems to explain the equation, Riku still couldn't understand it.
"How can you not understand this stuff? It's so easy."
"Yeah thanks for rubbing in it."
"School is almost over." Sora said as he stared at the clock that was plastered above the whiteboard. "How about I tutor you today after school?" He offered.
"T-today?" Riku said as he got nervous all of a sudden.
"Yeah why not?"
"Sorry, I have something that I need to do after school today. How about tomorrow?" Riku wasn't sure why he got nervous or why he blurted his last sentence out so fast. It was like he was hiding something from Sora.
"Okay." He was about to ask Riku why the change in days but was cut off by the bell, signaling that school was over for today.
"I should really go." Riku said as he grabbed his things. "See you tomorrow morning?"
"Sure."
Sora walked to the schools gym and waited outside for Kairi so they could walk home together. Usually the three of them would walk each other home but today was a little different.
Ok why did I suddenly get all nervous when he wanted to come over to my house?' Riku was very annoyed by his behavior. Like he told himself in class, he's over his little dream! Right? At least that's what he wanted to believe.
Well I'm glad that's over with. Yay! I must say that I'm happy with how long this chapter is. I hope it makes up for my absence. Review and let me know what you think! You've been hit by, you've been struck by a smooth criminal! R.I.P Micheal.
