Chapter 2

Hal slept soundly until he woke up in the afternoon. He sat up and rubbed his eyes wondering how he got on the couch. "Hmmn....?" he looked at Snake's sleeping form and got up before returning to his computer.

And even though nothing was showing up the information on the project had to be out there somewhere. There was this occult information on the people who made the project happen and crediting a list of new people, including a young woman, a middle aged man and an older woman for the invention of these strands and their supposed tests that ‘supposedly’ went accordingly with all rules and regulations. It was apparently the investigation for the cure for this Foxdie thing: Which was a complete lie. The documentation, however, showed something true: The project was about stopping an epidemic outbreak of the stuff via nanomachine control.

Hal read through the information and wrote more notes down. He continued to read what links the site had. "Hmm..." he typed in looking for information on triggers.

There was nothing else but an address and a few names.

Hal wrote down the address and the names. Maybe he could see them about a cure for it.

Snake got up and walked to the couch before realizing that it was empty so he started picking the things up from it. He turned and saw how Hal had gone right back to the computer. ‘Why didn’t I expect it?’ he thought before mentally berating himself because he was about to encourage him. “Found anything so far?” he asked.

"An address... And a few names..." Hal replied pushing up his glasses. "So far that's it." he said taking a drink from his water.

“Maybe we could interrogate a few people.” He said, being careful in including Hal since he wasn’t sure if the man would appreciate being kept out of this. He never did and there was no sign that he’d do so now.

Hal nodded. "I was going to." he replied. He knew Snake should go too but he didn't want to risk killing him just by being close.

“No… I mean ‘interrogate’ them, Hal, not ask.”

"Oh? So now you think I can't interrogate someone?" Hal replied putting his hands on his hips.

“Not… that…” he corrected… well… he was sleeping on the couch already: What else could he be afraid of?

"Well then what is it?" Hal asked crossing his arms.

“I’d just rather do it…” he then put a finger on his nose to scratch it and muttered. “…more experience…”

Hal sighed. "So...I stay here and sit on my ass while you go again?"

“Probably… you’re strong when it comes to that: I’d turn into a pile of anxiety.”

"Snake what if something happens?" he asked.

“It won’t happen to you.” Maybe he should smile when he said that.

Hal sighed. "But it'll happen to you…"

“I love you but this is kind of my job.” At this Snake was already looking for his equipment.

"But Snake… If you die then I'll be alone..." Hal replied.

“Not this argument…” The problem was that it worked, still he had to do this: It was what he did, and Hal needed to rest. “I need you to eat something.” With that he was already checking the address to leave.

Hal looked at him. "You know how I hate the thought of being alone when you're like this..." he said turning away slightly.

To which Snake responded by kissing him. Well… that was violent…Apparently the worse this thing could get was when he was close enough for his lips to make contact with Hal’s but he did little else than grip Hal’s clothes and writhe a little.

Hal kissed him back and closed his eyes tightly as if trying to will whatever it was in him to stop hurting Snake… to stop.

Snake attempted to embrace him but ended up bracing against him. He had to stop or his heart would. Thus he stepped away from him and grabbed onto the chair in order to keep standing and to keep breathing. His heart was in a violent pain as if someone had been gripping it in his or her fist tightly.

Hal looked down and adjusted his glasses. "You ok..?" he asked softly.

“Yeah” Predicable answer and it came too fast.

Hal sighed a little and handed him a bottled water.

“Thanks.” After drinking some of that water he was out that door and left to go look for some poor victim he was going to torture answers out of and then, probably, kill.

Hal watched him go and kept a watch over him.

Snake wouldn’t have had it any other way than that reassurance of Hal watching over him and, simply, making sure he was alright. Getting there had been easier than locating his target that in this case had been the elderly woman. What followed was easier to him than it would seem.

Hal nibbled on some Pocky as he kept a nervous eye on Snake through the codec and other tools. "Snake what did you find?"

“It was all on purpose.” He said, smirk could be heard through the codec. “They knew I’d want to be close to you so they made you my natural poison, so to speak. We’re going to have to kill my nanoes… how can we do that?”

"It'll be difficult… They didn't say how did they?" Hal asked.

“I think she gurgled it before dying… sorry.” He said, wondering if he’d have to look for another doctor to ‘convince’ into the task… and that he went to do.

"Snaaaake! Why'd you kill her!?" Hal asked sighing and rubbing the bridge of his nose.

“…” he sighed. “She may or may not have died on me.” And that was the torturing. He was silent as he grabbed a man from the place and made to kidnap him.

Hal sighed. "Just... Be more careful." he said getting up from the computer to get some food.

It took him a longer while but soon enough he was coming through the door and dragging a live one by the ankles.

“No! No! Jesus, you bastard, kill me, just kill me!”

Hal blinked. "Snake what are you doing?" he asked going over to him.

“I think this one can cure me.” He said, smiling at the man as the man shouted and screamed in fear.

Hal went over to the man and looked at him. "Can you?" he asked.

“I-I can’t! This is the purpose of this project! It’ll fail if I do!” was the man’s reply, which earned him a kick from Snake.

Hal looked at him. "Killing a person for some project is horrible!" he said taking one of his C++ books and hitting him over the head with it in an attempt to be tough.

“It’ll save millions!” Damn… and he WAS right about that, Snake thought.
