“It's Maya. She's in the bathroom, isn’t she?” Edgeworth asked, resting his forehead in his hand.
Nick nodded mutely.
“Did she see . . . anything?”
Nick just stood there shaking slightly.
Edgeworth rolled his eyes and went to gather his clothing. He pulled on his pants and shirt. As he walked toward the bathroom, he heard the sound of the lock clicking in place. Phoenix was still standing with his back against the bathroom door, his eyes as big as saucers.
“Move over, Wright,” said Edgeworth.
Nick's head sagged. He sighed. “I should deal with this,” he said.
“You should probably get some clothes on first,” said Edgeworth wryly.
After hurriedly dressing, Nick knocked on the door.
“Don't come in!” squeaked Maya.
“Maya,” said Nick, “come on out, we're not going to be mad at you.”
“We're not?”
“Ah, we just want to talk to you,” said Nick.
He could hear soft sniffling beyond the locked door.
“Maya?”
“I'm sorry . . . I'm so soooorrryyyy!”, squeaked Maya. “I didn't mean to see you two, I . . . I . . . ”
“Honestly Maya, we're not angry. Really, we're not, right Edgeworth?”
“Speak for yourself, Wright,” growled Edgeworth.
“Edgeworth!” hissed Nick, than sotto voce, “Don't make her feel any worse than she already does!”
There was a rattling click as the lock slid open and the door opened up a crack. Nick and Mr. Edgeworth could see Maya peering at them from inside the washroom. Maya could see Nick looking at her in concern, while Mr. Edgeworth tucked in his shirt, his expression carefully neutral.
“Really?”, the medium asked, “You're not angry?”
“Well, I should have said something when I got in to see if you were here. I kinda, heh, forgot that you were coming to the office today.” Nick grinned at her sheepishly.
“You forgot? How the hell could you forget something like that?” asked an incredulous Edgeworth.
“Uh, slipped my mind?”
Edgeworth stood there, his cheeks blushing pink and his eyes wide. He began sputtering.
“Shut up, Edgeworth,” said Nick, and he kissed him softly on his face. After he broke the kiss, he said, “Why don't you make us some tea, while I have a talk with Maya, all right? Please?”
Edgeworth stood there with his head bent, studying the floor. “All right,” he said. He turned and went to the counter to fill the kettle.
“Come and sit down, Maya,” said Nick. Her face was a picture of misery, her nose all pink from crying and her eyes' red.
“Why don't you go wash your face? It might make you feel better,” he said.
“Okay,” the medium sniffled.

When Edgeworth returned carrying a mug of tea, he almost dropped it. Nick was sitting there gently hugging Maya. Edgeworth swallowed hard, twice and set the tea cup down on the end-table.
“I'm sorry if I'm interrupting something,” he said. “I guess I should get back to the office.”
“No, not at all, actually. Maya did have something she wanted to say to you.”
Edgeworth stood there, and crossed his arms looking at them coolly. “Oh?” he said.
“Um, Mr. Edgeworth, I'm really sorry. I couldn't help myself. You guys,” she stuttered. “You both looked so beautiful, and I couldn't stop watching. I know I should have said something, I . . . ” She lapsed into silence.
Edgeworth sat back watching her. He was starting to recover from his embarrassment, and he found that his anger had mostly evaporated.
“I accept your apology,” he said.
Nick sighed with relief. “Thank God that's over,” he thought. “Actually, you know something?” said Nick. “Don't you think, Edgeworth, that the thought of someone watching us was, you know, kind of hot? Like really hot?”
Edgeworth goggled at him. “What!” he sputtered.
“Come on, admit it,” said Nick. “Isn't there something about it that turns you on? You know, being caught in flagrante delicto?”, he asked, slyly.
Edgeworth blushed to the roots of his hair. He couldn't admit it to anyone, certainly not in front of Wright's law partner. The thought was rather interesting, but he held back.
Nick grinned and pointed at the evidence of Edgeworth's agreement with his statement. “Well,” he said, “I can see some part of you agrees with me! Take that!”
“All right! Maybe I do! But that doesn't mean I think we should do this here, and now!” barked Edgeworth, still blushing furiously.
“Er,” Maya interjected. “I wouldn't mind really, I could hide, and you guys could pretend I'm not even here . . . ”
“Ah,” interrupted Nick. “The point would be for you to be here. To see us doing it. That's the excitement, you see?”
“Well, if we're going to do this, then I need some incentive.” Edgeworth crossed his arms and glared at Nick. Maya looked from one lawyer to the other, nervously wondering what was going to happen next.
Nick grinned. He said, “You want incentive? I'll give you incentive.” He walked to his desk and started digging around in the drawer which normally held files, when it was once Mia's office.
“Ah,” he said, “just the thing.”
Edgeworth raised an eyebrow as Nick produced a half-mickey of scotch whiskey from his desk. He said, “Here Edgeworth, have some incentive,” and poured a good-sized shot into Maya's now empty tea cup.
Nick nodded mutely.
