Disclaimer:
I do not own The Legend of Zelda game series, nor any of the characters from them. I do not make any money from the writing of this story.
The Corrput and the Clean
Before I begin: Well... I can tell that I didn't get any reviews but at least a few hits. It's a start I guess.
This chapter will include some details on what happened after Link killed Ganondorf and also cover the fate of a few other characters. Though in this fanfic there won't be any relation between Link and Medli, I will include a later fanfic with that popular pairing.

Chapter Two: The Corrupt and the Clean
_____________________
It wasn't a long wait until Link came back to Tetra's ship with Mila's spare dress. While she changed, She noticed Tetra pulling Link over for a conversation. Mila didn't catch much of it, she quickly covered herself in the ragged dress and approached them quietly enough to hear some of the conversation.
"If it's just Bokoboblins and Darknuts who are using the fortress now, why not attack them yourself?" Link asked.
Tetra seemed a little disappointed. "Of my entire crew, only two of us, me included, can actually take on a Darknut, let alone a small swarm of them. You're the only one who actually has any good memory of the layout of the Forsaken Fortress." Tetra explained.
Link sighed. "Fine then, what are the details and the pay?" He asked.
Tetra grinned and winked. "Always to the point now, eh? Though they never found out how to work the searchlights on the island, the fortresses cannons are still working, so it's still unsafe for my ship to approach. But, since you--" Tetra then noticed Mila. It only widened her grin. "A little small on you, don't you think?" She asked.
Link turned and spotted Mila, she saw his face go red. Her dress was hardly enough to cover anything. Half of her breasts were exposed and it was very short. Tetra saw Link's face and laughed. Mila got a scowl on her face but Link was fast to recover. "Tetra, you think you could loan me some money so i can get her something a little less... revealing?" Link asked.
Tetra reached into a satchel on her hip and produced a fairly large wallet and handed Link a purple ruppie. "Grab her what she likes, but you pay for her food because you didn't take my warning seriously." Tetra said, still grinning wildly.
Mila didn't speak, she didn't feel like traveling to town with Link, but new clothes and food was a hard thing for her to turn down. She finally sighed and looked at Link. "I'll go with you, but don't get any funny ideas." She said.
Link nodded and pulled out his grappling hook. Mila cocked her head. "What are you doing?" She asked.
Link tied the rope of the hook to the rail of the pirate ship. "This is the closest thing to a ladder you'll get on this ship." Link said. He checked the knot and turned to Mila. "You can try to climb down on your own or hang on to me. Which would you prefer?" Link asked.
Mila walked over to the rail and looked down. Her desicion was almost instant. "I'll let you carry me." She said reluctantly. Link turned his back to her and knelt, she wrapped her arms around his neck and her legs around his waist. Link then suddenly leapt over the rail and quickly climbed down the rope to his small boat with the strange bow. Mila let go of Link, Tetra then untied his hook from the rail, Mila tried to talk to him while he was coiling the rope back up. "What kind of ship is this?" She asked.
Link put the grappling hook into his satchel and pulled out his wallet. "It's a small sail boat built for speed and treasure diving. It's called The King of Red Lions." Link explained. He checked his wallet. Tetra heard the jingle of several small ruppies , but Link then produced two red ruppies. "How do you feel about the restaurant here?" Link asked.
Mila tried hard not to smile at Link. She still felt some anger towards him. Why shouldn't she? He disappeared when she needed his help desperately and only showed up now after her father died. But she still found it hard to hate him. She nodded quietly. Link went to a whip staff near the end of his ship and led it to the harbor on Windfall, he didn't even need to raise it's sail.

Link lead Mila to a nearby tailor. Mila was quick to pick out two simple dresses, both of which worth 20 ruppies, and some much needed undergarments, closely watching her price. As she was trying everything on she heard Link arguing with the shopkeeper. "Which part of "I don't need regular clothes" hasn't sunk in yet?" He asked impatiently. Mila listened with some interest. It was true that when he helped her years ago, he wore the exact same type of clothes.
"Oh come now sir, surely with that lady you'll need something better looking to impress her! After all, even in those rags I'm sure you found her quite--" Link cut the shopkeeper off.
"Aid is more important than impression. If I did want to impress her then I'd head to Dragon Roost." Link said. Mila walked out of the changing room. Link took a look at her and turned red again. Although she was wearing more modest clothing, the dress she picked out seemed to be a type that Link liked. The shopkeeper laughed.
"Now you see, Dragon Roost Island isn't the only place with those robes! Here we get quite a few items." The shopkeeper said.
Link sighed. "None of the stuff you have has any satchels or pockets, and for my line of work that's a bad thing." Link said.
The shopkeeper turned his attention to Mila. "You look splendid miss. Can I interest you in anything else?" He asked.
Mila shook her head. "No, this will be enough." She said. The shopkeeper nodded and handed Link the bill. He was quick to fish out Tetra's money and paid for Mila's new clothes.
Outside Link first took Mila's extra dress and her old one to the King of Red Lions and stashed them in a lock box. Mila peeked over Link's shoulder to look inside the box. Inside it were several charts and books and she also saw three or four bundles of long arrows. She didn't see a bow on Link's back, but there was a bundle tied to his back other than his sword which was deffinetly large enough to be a bow. Link carefully folded up the dress and put it in the chest on his ship and then locked it up. He then turned to Mila. "I know your answer, but it's best to get consent. You want to grab some food?" Link asked. Mila nodded quietly. Link seemed disappointed by her reaction somehow. He walked back towards the town, Mila followed. But she paused when she noticed something in the corner of her eye and turned back to the King of Red Lions. She thought she saw movement on the face that was part of the decorative bow. What was that supposed to be? She quickly turned around and ran to follow Link. As she did, she quickly realized that she forgot shoes, but it was a little late.

Windfall Restaurant
______________________
Four years ago, which was when Mila first met Link, there was a sudden earthquake which seemed to hit every island. After that earthquake Link returned to Windfall carrying several charts which he sold to the owners of the bar above Zumari's stall. Though Mila never found out the details of the charts, apparently after that earthquake there was a sudden growth in resources. The originally lifeless great sea suddenly became full of fish and several large islands popped up and were quickly taken over by strange creatures made of wood. Mila only saw them once, but what was apparent was that they used those islands for farming. Several new businesses, as well as new life, appeared in the great sea after that.
Windfall was usually the center of the new businesses, one example was the restaurant that Link took Mila too. With the new large amounts of vegetation, the restaurant, owned by the same woman who owned the local bar, was always in the middle, serving the best food that could be found. Every customer would be given a bowl of rice and a bowl of broth, between them would be set a platter of dried fish and fresh veggies.
Mila ate quietly and slowly. Link did the same, neither of them talked. They stayed that way until the end of the meal. Mila finally asked Link a question that had been bugging her. "Link... when we were close to that boat of yours, you looked disappointed about something. What was it?" She asked.
Link paused, obviously she asked a question that he would prefer not to answer. But he did answer. "I was hoping for a chance to see your smile." Link said.
Mila looked at him curiously. "My smile?" She asked.
Link nodded and got up. "I'll explain later. If you want, I can take you back to Tetra's ship now, she's offered to give you a bed to sleep on until you find a new job. I've got some business to do in town." Link said.
Mila paused to think. Again, she disliked the company but still wanted to leap at the chance to get away from using bushes for beds. Unable to decide about her rest spot for the night, she instead turned to Link. "I'll help you with your work." She said. Link paused. She cocked her head. "Any reason I shouldn't?" She asked.
Link nodded. "One job was with Peggie's father, I've got something to deliver to him. He's the one that is in what used to be your mansion." Link said.

Windfall Mansion
_______________________
Despite Link's attempts to convince her otherwise, Mila still persisted in going on business with him. Link gave up and let her follow him to the mansion. Inside was a man whose head was almost as inflated as his ego, and a Rito who was arguing with him. "Listen sir, this isn't a letter for your daughter it's a bill that you need to pay." The postman said.
The huge-headed man scowled. "Get out of my house, you damn bird!" He cried. Finally the Rito postman walked off.
"Fine, don't come to Dragon Roost when someone comes to reposes that auction house in your basement." The postman muttered. He stopped when he noticed Link and Mila. "Link, I was going to look for you next. If you're not doing anything important, Komali wished to see you at Dragon Roost Island." The postman said before leaving.
Mila looked at Link, but he was quick to get to business. Obviously he hated the huge-headed man himself.
The man with the huge head turned to Link and laughed. "Oh, the urchin! Have you got what I ordered?" He asked. Link scowled.
"Not for you, it's for your daughter. I just need you to tell her that I'm here." Link said.
The man shouted. "WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE THAT--" Suddenly he was cut off by a cacophony of a voice.
"Link, I'm back here!" A girl shouted. Link walked past the huge headed man, Mila followed. Mila recognized the girl. Despite her splendid dress she still had a face that could make anything cry. Peggie turned to Link and let out an annoying giggle. "Did you find it?" She asked.
Link nodded and reached into his satchel, pulling out a strange looking pendant with a striped sea-shell on the end. Peggie let out a delighted squeel, Mila felt a sharp pain in her ears from the noise. Link seemed unshaken, he must've been used to it. "A zebra muscle shell pendant, just like you asked." Link said.
Peggie walked over to a chest and pulled out a bottle full of a strange yellow liquid. "Here you go, the Yellow Chu Jelly that my father gave me! You can keep the bottle also!" She said. Link nodded and put it in his satchel. Peggie then noticed Mila.
"Wait... I know you!" She said.
Mila sighed. She hated Peggie. Though she had before tried to feel sorry for the girl when Peggie was the one in rags, Mila couldn't help but be annoyed by the girls squeels and voice.
Peggie mistook Mila's silence for ignorance. "It's me, Peggie! You were with me when we were taken to the Forsaken Fortress!" She said.
Mila talked with her usual expresionless look. "I assume you're still trying to flirt with that Moglin?" She asked. Peggie got a dreamy look on her face, Mila hid her deep disgust. It was common knowledge that Moglins were notorious for raping or eating humans like Peggie. In the case of Moe, a Moglin she devoloped a crush on while in the fortress, he wanted to make a soup from her brain and liver. Mila also knew from experience that Peggie would be daydreaming for a while. Link seemed to know likewise and the two began to walk off but were stopped by Peggie's father, the man with the giant head.
"I thought I recognized the little beggar!" Peggie's father shouted. "You're the one that used to live here!" He boasted. Mila held in her temper. "It's funny that your father was foolish enough to give up everything to find you, only to leave it all too me!" He shouted proudly. Mila clenched her fists but showed nothing on her face. Link wasn't so patient though.
"If that's the way you're going to act, then maybe I should collect that debt you owe me." Link said.
The huge headed man broke out instantly in a sweat. "I... er... don't have it." He said.
Link sighed. "You mean to tell me that the richest man in Windfall can't pay off a simple 2,000 ruppie debt to someone that delivers his source of income in the first place? What did you do with the last twenty Skull Necklaces that I brought you?" Link asked.
The huge headed man didn't reply. Link walked off quietly, Mila followed.
Outside the mansion, Mila let out a frustrated shout and punched the stone wall of the mansion, scraping her knuckle. Link sighed. "If it makes you feel any better, he'll soon be at the mercy of his retarted daughter." Link said.
Mila looked up. "How so?" She asked.
Link leaned against the wall of the mansion. "His original business that got him the money to buy your house was dealing Skull Necklaces, but they're value rapidly dropped when Tetra delivered a huge shipment to the local jewelry merchant here. They're now mostly a Windfall souvenir rather than a valuable trinket." Link said.
Mila looked at Link. "What was the stuff that Peggie gave you?" She asked.
Link pulled out the bottle. "Yellow potion, something the professor here made with my help. It's actually being used in weapons development, Tetra's crew was going to test out the potion in a bomb because it seems to emit electricity when it's jarred." Link said. He put the bottle back. Mila cocked her head.
"Why did Peggie have something like that?" She asked.
Link got an embrassed look on his face. "That chest you saw on the King of Red Lions is actually new. It was in my possession but fell off of my ship and washed up here, Peggie's father bought it for her because it's her favorite color." Link said. Mila shook her head.
"What other business do you have here?" She asked.
Link nodded. "Just one more thing." He said.

Mila felt like she needed to get away from Windfall, even if it was with pirates and Link. She was walking on the top deck of the ship and noticed Link and Tetra talking. She listened.
"Komali wants your help?" Tetra asked.
Link nodded. "I'm not sure with what, but I owe him a favor. I'm also not expected back at Outlet Island for another month, it would actually be best to avoid arriving early." Link said.
Tetra sighed. "You're on your own, my crew isn't exactly welcomed there." She said.
Link turned to Mila. "Mila, if you're interested, I can take you with me." Link said.
Mila jumped, she didn't know that Link had noticed her. "Fine, I'll go." She said without thinking.
