Chapter 1
Chapter 1
------------
Nane sighed in frustration as she went to see what had stirred up her younger Gerudo sisters.
‘Their all but clucking like hens.’ She though as she made her way to the crowd that had formed.
“Oh he’s so cute.”
“Are you sure you just found him in the desert. With no mother-”
“Of course she wouldn’t have found a mother. Only the ones marked by the gods can make it to the temple.”
“She right.”
“He’s a sign. A gift from the gods!”
There was and Awed pause.
“What will you name him?”
“He is a happy little one lets name him Daraki.”
“Daraki? What about Adjo? You found him like he was a treasure-”
“No, no, no she will need to give him a name that will suit him. Like Hasani.”
“NO of Course she not going to give him that dreadful name. This child if gifted with intelligent you must name him Akil to honor that gift.”
“Ewww not that horrid name again.”
“Bomani that’s a name he’s worthy of. He was able survive out there all by him self the pup has guts he’s a warrior.”
“How could you be so cruel give him such a terrible name. He is a blessing, a gift from our goddess surely she would have wanted us to acknowledge that and name him Baraka.
“No Bes!”
“Zuberi.”
“Ishaq.”
“Gyasi.”
“Sefu?”
Nabooru smiled. Some how word had spread like wild fire. That she had seen carrying a baby into the fortress. She had barely made inside when she was surrounded by group of her sisters.
All where amazed that she had found a baby abandon in the deserts. The fact that he was a male made no differents. They had already falling in love with the sleeping babe.
“Sisters ,sisters please. My new son already has a name.” Nabooru called out with laughter in her voice.
There was a brief disappoint pause. Before one of the eldest called out.
“Well what the pups name then?”
Nabooru looked down and smiled at the sleeping bundle in her arms.
“His name is Link.”
“Just what is Link?” Nane voice called over the crowd.
As though it was done by invisible hands a path had been cleared. As she made her way to the centre of the group.
Nabooru quickly rushed over to the elder and bowed. “Nane, I found this child. He was left in the desert”
Nane gently took the child into her arms and look him over. “This child has been poisoned by the sun. Quickly I need ice.” She called out to the crowd as she rushed the child to her room.
“Close the door Nabooru the less heat in here the better.” Nane called over her shoulder as she placed the Child on her medicine table.
“Will he be alright?” Nabooru asked anxiously.
“Oh yes.” Nane answered matter-of-factly. His skin is to fair to be exposed in the sun to long. It was very wise of you to rap him with wet cloth.” Nane said as she started to mix oils and herds together. “He will be fit in no time. And then you can just send him off into the castle town and be done with him.”
“I am not going to send him away. He is now my son.” Nabooru said barely above a whisper as she gently stroked the sleeping babe tummy. The both watch him gurgle happily in his sleep.
“Nabooru.” Nane said sadly and she put down her mixture. “I know its difficulty for you accept that you can not have a child. But that does not mean you can just go take babies away from others.” Nane said calmly as she bought a rag, soap and basin of fresh water to the table.
“I didn’t take him.” Nabooru said as she took the soap and rag and gently started to wash her son. “He was gifted to me by our goddess.”
“Nabooru.”
Nabooru looked at her with deadly eyes. “He was left there. Alone, burning in the sun while vultures circle above. Right there near our temple! And you and I both know that the only way to get there is if you’re marked by the gods.” Gently she raised Links tiny left hand showing Nane the mark.
Nane gasped. “The Triforce.”
“You see Nane he was meant for me.”
“But what of Ganondorf? He will never let you keep him.”
“He doesn’t need to know.” She said as her expression soften as she looked at her son. “The bastart always wants a yearly report on how many children are born. We’ll just tell him I had one as well he doesn’t need to know the sex. And the pompous ass always expects a grand gala for his home coming and he sends word weeks in advance, so we’ll know when he’s coming and we’ll have plenty of time to hide Link.”
Nane shivered and nodded. That look that Nabooru had just given her. Was the look of a mother that would do anything to protect her child.
She had seen woman destroy entire towns and kill with that fire in there eyes even take there own life to protect their young.
Nane sigh as she looked at Nabooru. The girl was so young and had lost the ability to breed. The child had barely started his life and had no mother.
The fates had intertwined the two together. And far be it for her to go against fate.
Nane looked down at the sleeping babe. “Welcome to the Gerudo Link.”
My the gods help you.
