Chapter 2
I don’t know why it always comes to this. Every time I feel myself getting close to somebody, I ruin it. I lose control of the situation.
I suppose that’s one reason why I love my orchids so much. No matter how much I touch, care for and admire them, they only become more beautiful. It’s a very peaceful feeling to know that at least something seems to be enjoying my presence.
My thoughts wander again as I sit on the balcony of my Tokyo home, gazing out at the city beneath me. The stars are almost as bright as the vivid nightlife of Japan. It’s beautiful and so surreal.
I sigh, wishing I could be sharing this moment with somebody. My home seems so empty now since Riku left but it’s for the better. He was a shining example of what I mean when I say I do not want to lose control again.
He started out as an assistant of mine when I first started practicing law. I was nervous, inexperienced and in my opinion, a sniveling idiot with severe problems compared to the man I am today. He was confident and almost cocky about everything he did. It made me look bad and caused my deepest desires to be humiliated to stir uncomfortably.
One day, I scolded him for a mistake he had made in his paperwork. I told him he needed to re-do it and I did not want to see him in my office until it was perfect. I was angry but very unsure of how to assert my authority.
Not long after, he entered my office, perfect paper in hand. He approached me and slammed the paper on my desk. I was nervous at the anger accented with an unmistakable lust glaring in his perfect sea green eyes. I swallowed hard as he made his way to my side and jerked me up out of my chair.
I tried to scramble from his grip but it was too much. Secretly, I wanted him to do whatever he was planning to do. He forced me in front of the paper I had just made him re-do and demanded that I read it. I glanced at him nervously and he pressed his hand to the back of my neck, forcing me into a bent position over the paper.
I gasped and demanded to know what had come over him but my words were silenced as he pulled my slacks from my waist and began to whip me repeatedly as I read the paper aloud. It was ecstasy…
Ever since that moment, it became a year of nothing but whippings, fucking and a journey into my own psyche that made me realize, I am meant to be the one in control.
I escaped that blissful torture chamber and I guess I’ve just been trying to recreate it all ever since, reversing the roles of course.
I guess this leads me up to where I am now. I am a powerful lawyer with a strong left arm, dominating one assistant after the other. I just can’t seem to make it last or escalate to the levels of my desire. Oh well…
I shrug and take a sip of my hot cup of sake. My throat burns slightly as it slides down my throat but it’s a good pain. Most pain is good. Most…
I close my eyes and think to myself, I hope tomorrow will be better. Today was just…entirely too eventful.

(The Next Day)
I sit at my desk staring down into the cup of coffee I just made for myself. It doesn’t taste as good as when my assistants make it for me. Maybe it’s the mild sacrifice of time to bring me pleasure that makes it taste so sweet. I don’t know.
The sound of footsteps outside my door catches my attention and I raise my eyes as Sora steps through into my office.
“Good Morning Axel!” Sora’s voice is always so cheery and almost uplifting. I have no idea why he enjoys working for me.
“Good Morning Sora…can I…help you?”
I guess I ask with such an odd tone because Sora never really comes into my office. It’s probably because I always have an assistant to pass messages back and forth but I fired him yesterday.
He doesn’t respond because he seems oddly fascinated by my choice in artwork. The elegant Chinese dragons and phoenixes hanging on every wall are very beautiful and powerful. Any embodiment of the flame and it’s passion just seems to suit me and I surround myself in it whenever possible.
I clear my throat to regain his attention and he jumps, smiling at me widely.
“Oh yes, I have somebody out in the lobby who seems to be interested in the help wanted sign out front. You know, the bulbs are going to burn out if you turn that thing on and off too much…”
“Alright alright Sora, thank you, send them in.”
My annoyance shows itself well in my voice, not wanting to hear of my frequent hirings and firings from him. I know very well what I am doing…or so I tell myself that.
He leaves the room quickly and I sink back in my chair, stroking my temples. I’m really in no mood to speak with anybody today. I stare at the stack of paperwork on my desk and the list of clients I probably should be calling but oh well, all that aside for now.
“Um, hi…mister…uh…”
A voice startles me from my self agitated glare at my papers and I look up, catching sight of a young man stepping into my office. My lips part at the sight of him.
It had been raining outside on and off since yesterday and he looks as if he walked here. His baggy blue jeans cling to his legs for warmth and a white collared shirt accented with a black and white checkered tie hugs his shoulders. I can see the color of his seemingly flawless skin through the cloth. He is nervously clutching a small stack of dampened papers in his delicately built hands.
Aside from his obvious soaking, his eyes are the most stunning shade of ocean blue I have ever laid my sights on.
“Hello…you can call me Axel…no mister here.” I finally speak, breaking the extremely awkward silence created by my idiotic gawking. “So, I suppose you are interested in a job?”
“Yes.” He nods. His voice is deep and strong, full of hidden passion. It’s beautiful actually.
“Ah…Well, I am looking for an assistant…someone to just answer the phones, take care of some paperwork….and well, assist me.” I smile almost wickedly at him. Why am I doing this?
“I can do all of that.” He smiles at me shyly, handing me his papers.
I take them and watch him carefully as he fidgets in his seat. I notice small scars across his arms, thinking to myself that they look oddly like burns.
Tearing my attention away from his soaked and scarred figure, I read over his papers, not really giving it much thought as to what they say. I’m going to hire him anyways.
“Your resume’ is quite impressive actually…you really are overqualified for this but if you really want to work for me….”
“…I do…” He says this a little quickly but he seems eager, even if it is for a boring job like being my assistant. Ha…boring!
“Alright then, I’ll continue to read over this…uh…” I suddenly realize I never even asked for his name and I look down at the stack of papers, reading…Roxas typed neatly on the first line of the page.
“…yes…Roxas…and you can make me another cup of coffee. I really suck at making this stuff.”
His mouth drops open as I pick up my cup of coffee and dump it onto the floor beside my desk. I cock an eyebrow at him and glance down at the split fluid on the wooden floor.
“Uhh…” He stammers but I guess he realizes this is a test as he rushes from my office, hopefully to retrieve some paper towels.
He shortly returns with a towel in hand and rushes to the puddle spreading across the sleek floor. I lean back casually in my chair as I watch him drop to his knees, sopping up the liquid neatly. He slowly raises his eyes to me, catching my insistent stare into his world of ocean blue and his cheeks take on a flattering hue of red. Simply amazing…
I hear him swallow hard as he rises to his feet with the wet towel in hand. He looks at me shyly and smiles as if to hope for a passing grade to my test, clutching the wet cloth tight enough to wring droplets of coffee from its depths, onto his black sneakers. I think I like him already.
His face shows an expression like he just remembered something and he swiftly leaves my office. I tug at the collar of my shirt, loosening my black silk tie, attempting to shrug off the feeling of intense arousal creeping its way into my loins.
No…No, this isn’t right.
My expression brightens as he returns with another cup of coffee in hand. I never even told him how I like it. This should be interesting.
I reach for the cup, allowing my long slender finger to graze over his heated hand for an instant. I can feel against the ceramic of the mug that his palms were sweating.
My jade eyes capture him in their gaze as I lift the drink to my lips.
“Mmmm...” I almost moan to myself softly as the fluid flows over my tongue. It’s the sweetest and most perfect cup of coffee I’ve ever had.
I nod my approval as I nurse my caffeine fix and decide, this is the beginning of a beautiful (professional) relationship.
