Kalas lost in thought
Kalas returned from Sadal Suud. He was angry and bitter and just crawling with pent up frustration. Why had he lost Xelha? Why did it have to be this way? It was supposed to be at an end, dammit! He was supposed to be happy again!
He walked into Komo Mai. The city was still in party mode, and more revelers were arriving when he did. The lights and sounds and smells were all those of happiness. It made him sick. He just wanted... something... Some sort of conclusion. Something to take away the horrible pain of loss, if only for a moment.
He walked past most of the banquet tables, in a daze. He waved quickly at Mizuti and Savyna as he walked by them, and nodded at Gibari, who was apparently picking up two women at once.
'Good man,' thought Kalas. He began to ponder doing that for himself. Yes Xelha was important to him, and no he really didn't want to replace her. He especially didn't want to cheat on her with another woman, even though they never actually got together. He still felt at least some obligation.
No, Xelha was the only woman for him. At least, for now.
He continued walking through the crowd and eventually made it toward the back of the town. He was still lost in his mind, looking around for something to soothe his pain, when he felt eyes on him.
Quickly, Kalas went into defensive stance. He looked around trying to see who was watching him. When he didn't see anyone
in the crowd around him, he decided to look up. Good choice.
There, in the third floor window of the inn beside him stood Lyude.
The younger redhead looked down at Kalas, a slight surprised expression on his face. Kalas returned with a similar look. Why was Lyude staring at him? The visual exchange continued for all of another twenty seconds, in which both boys tried to make sense of the other's facial expression. Then, Lyude gave a soft smile and waved kindly at Kalas, in his normal courteous manner. Kalas gave a quick nod and turned off, heading into the shadows to ponder.
