Sonata
PreLude Before Romance
" When did you get here, Riku? " Sora asked as they walked out the piano store.
" Eh, a little while ago. " Riku replied with a shrug. There was a honk, and the sound of tires grounding against the road and Sora's Mom's Car stood in front of them.
" So how long are you going to stay? " Sora asked, opening the car door.
" It depends. " Riku said with a glint in his eye, which Sora didn't catch, for he was too busy saying 'hi' to his mother. The silver-haired boy got in the car with his long time friend.
" Kairi would be so surprise to see you! " Sora said excitedly.
" Yeah, I guess she would. " Riku looked out the window. He and Sora both knew that Kairi had moved to another school due to her parents. A nice, prestigous school, one that will form fine, adults... blah blah blah...
" Where are you staying? " the brunette asked.
" Guess. "
" Aw, Riku, you know I hate guessing! "
Riku threw him a smirk as he rested his elbow on the cardoor handle and pillowed his chin with his palm.
" Rikuuuu.... "
" I'm not telling you. "
" Oh, come on! "
Riku was silent, but still holding that smirk.
" A suite? "
" Nope. "
" Your old house? "
" Nuh-uh. "
" My house? "
Riku nodded. Sora's sky-blue eyes lit up.
" My house?! YAY!! " he attacked the older boy with a hug bear hug on a huge impulse.
" Sora! Wait, Sora! Sora, I can't breath! " Riku complained, but it didn't help. Sora was a leech, he wasn't letting go.
" Sora, will you get off him? " his mother chasitized looking back at him.
" Watch the road, Mom! "
A horn blared at them, making them all jump. Screeching tires, a bit of cussing each other out, and a couple of flick offs later...
" Wow, Mom. " Sora said astonished. " I didn't know you knew... so... many... words... "
" Yeah, Mrs. Hikari... " Riku added.
" Well, see boys? " Mrs. Hikari said triumphantly. " You're not the only ones that can pick up stuff. "
When they got home the first thing Sora and Riku did was rush into the younger boys room and talked about what has changed in the last few years, even though they have been exchanging letters, it was nice hearing the others voice.
" Well... I'm actually in the top one percent in my class... " Sora said, bouncing on his bed while Riku sat on the carpet floor, an old habit of his. [A/N: Sorry! I forgot to mention this!! In here, Riku and Sora are the same age as they were in the game. So Sora is 14 and Riku is still 15. Just in case some people got confused.]
" Are you serious!? " Riku said nearly throwing his head back in laughter. " You never told me that! "
" Because it's fun messing with you. " Sora said with a casual grin.
" You're a dork, Sora. " the older boy said, ruffling the other's hair.
Sora laughed. " Easy for you to say, Riku! " He bounced on his bed childishly, " You haven't changed a bit! "
" Haven't changed, have I? " Riku said, rasing a brow.
" Yeah-- "
Before he knew it, Sora was pinned down on his bed, staring into Riku's aquamarine eyes.
" R-Ri... Riku...? "
The older boy silenced him with a kiss. It was a quick one. A chaste kiss, but still Sora blushed madly.
" I thought I was never going to do that. " Riku murmured, nuzzling Sora's neckline. " That day, the day I moved. I was planning to tell you my feelings. My true feelings... "
" Riku...? "
" Shh... " Riku pressed their foreheads together tenderly. " You talk too much. "
Sora fell silent, not believing his own ears. His friend. His childhood male friend. Was... confessing his love...?
" But I was scared. Scared, of how you might react. But my years away from you have served a useful purpose afterall. "
He brushed his lips against the brunette's once more.
" That I should never be afraid... to tell you how I feel. "
The silver-haired boy grinned. " How's that for a change? "
" Y-yeah... It's a pretty big change all right... " Sora said breathless.
" So... what do you say? "
" What? " the brunette looked to his friend.
" Do you love me? "
" I-- "
" Sora! Eat Now!! " Sora's Mother interrupt them. [A/N: Man, I love ruining moments! :)]
" Aw, Mom! Now?! "
" Yes, now. I'm leaving soon and I know you won't eat once I leave the house! "
" Can't you trust me?! "
" Not as much as I trust you with my meals! "
" Zero to none. " Sora whispered to Riku, completely forgetting about the current situation. The other boy tried to stifle a laugh.
" And after you eat, you have to practice piano! Sora are you listening to me?! "
They didn't say anything.
" NOW MISTER!!! " Sora's mother roared.
" I'm going, I'm going! " he called as he got up. Riku sighed heavily, and followed him. As they came to the living room, they caught Sora's mom leaving.
" All right, I'm leaving now. And you better practice piano! I didn't pay a five thousand dollars for that piano just so you can't use it! "
" All right, all right! " Sora said.
" There's some leftover chinese food in the refridgerator and-- "
" I'll cook for him. " Riku spoke up.
They both stared at him.
" You cook? " they said in unison.
Riku shrugged. " I get bored once in a while. "
" Fine. " Mrs. Hikari said. " But, no sweets. "
She shut the door behind her as she left.
" I don't need you to cook for me. " Sora said defiantly.
" Oh, please. " Riku said, folding his arms. " I know you, the closest thing to cooking for you is cereal and milk. "
Sora stuck his tonuge out at him childishly.
" Now come on, " The silver-haired boy's lips became dangerously close to Sora's. " I promise I won't bite.... yet... "
With that he left for the kitchen, leaving the brunette to stand there, speechless.
Riku hummed to himself as he cooked. Knowing full well that Sora was attempting to watch him. 'He must be remembering what happened in the bedroom.' he thought.
He could just imaginge the brunette right now. Trying to look up at him, but stopping himself due to embaressment, blush, and then his head would drop back to the table where he was sitting at, and he'd try it again, and once again stop himself. Riku chuckled, Sora was just too cute.
As he served his friend a the meal, he noted that Sora still wouldn't look at him. Throughout dinner the brunette just continued to pick shyly at his food. Eventually he did eat it all, Sora had always been a glutton when it comes to food.
Dinner ended and as soon as it did, Riku rose from his seat, and slid Sora's plate away from him,
" I'll wash the dishes. " he said casually.
" Uhh..umm... I'll... "
Riku kissed Sora's forehead. " I'll wash them. " he whispered.
Sora flushed completely and Riku grinned, then went to wash the dishes.
'He's the devil himself!' Sora told himself as Riku moved away.
~*~
The dishes were done and Riku turned around to wipe his hands on a dry towel. Sora had gone to his room a few minutes after he started washing the dihes and that's where the silver-haired boy was headed. He opened the door a crack and peeked inside. Riku couldn't help but smile at the sight. Sora had fallen fast asleep. His face tilted to one side, looking right at him peacefully, like a sleeping angel, the covers undrawn over his slim, petite body, as if he had just came in and went to sleep.
' Falling to sleep right after he eats. " Riku thought. ' How adorable... '
He dared to open the door a little bit wider and causiously walked inside, as to not disturb his perfect picture of the object of his affection. Riku was at the brunette's bedside now. He could hear Sora's breath right now, his lips just a kiss away... But resisting his urge, Riku instead brushed away some cinamon locks from Sora's face.
" Rikuuuu... " came a soft moan from the younger boy.
Riku drew his hand back quickly, as if expecting a bite. But nothing came. Then again, Sora was a heavy sleeper.
He looked at his long-time friend for quite some time. His long-time friend whom he had a crush on for the last, like, eternity. Riku had yearned for so long to capture the boy's heart. And looking at Sora's sleeping face was just encouraging him to claim him. 'But what would Sora think?' he thought. The mere thing that had kept him from just pinning Sora down and screwing him senseless was the fact of what Sora would think of him. Would he hate him? Hate him. That's what really held him back. If he did take Sora, would the brunette hate him for it? His body trembled at the thought of having Sora hate him. He couldn't bear it. And yet, he was slightly amused of the hold the feelings of his best friend had on him.
Again Riku found himself glancing at Sora's sleeping face. But then... what would happen... if he asked Sora what was his answer now? If he never did it, he would never know... but he was afraid. No, he can't be afraid... [A/N: God, am I making this confusing?!] He had to know his answer.
Summoning all of his courage, Riku gently straddled the sleeping boy. Careful not to wake him up and scare him... well, not yet.
" Sora. " he murmured. Sora mumbled something he couldn't understand.
" Soooo-raaaaa.... " Riku cooed.
" Five more minutes, Mommy... " the brunette muttered. Attempting to bat Riku away feebly. The silver-haired boy laughed
" I'm not your Mom. " he murmured into Sora's ear. Sora's eyes snapped open at the sound of his voice.
" Riku?! Huh?--What?--How?--Wha...? " Sora fumbled. " What are you doing? "
" I'm listening for your answer, Sora. " Riku said, keeping his cool, when in reality he was scared shitless.
" What is your answer? " he murmured.
" My answer is... " Sora's voice trailed off. And Riku held his breath.
He felt Sora's arms wrap around his neck and pull him into a kiss. It took a while for Riku to register what in the world was happening, Sora was kissing him. He was kissing him. He was stunned.
" I love you, Riku. " Sora murmured.
