Chapter 2: Moonlight Serenade
Chapter 2: Moonlight Serenade
The moonlight shone across the water as laughter could be heard. Riku was having so much fun, even though he was so afraid to let his feelings out. He watched as Sora played happily and showed off his beautiful smile. The light showed off Sora's perfect form and made Riku want to drool. He held his own though. All he wanted then was just to spend time with his dreamy love. He dove under the water, in an atempt to catch Sora of guard, but he couldn't find him. He raised back up to the surface to find he was nowhere to be found. He turned around, slightly panicing. His thoughts started racing. 'Where the heck could he be?' Just then, he felt a wall of water hit him in the back.
"Surprise!" Sora yelled as he laughed really loud. "I never thought I'd ever be able to sneak up on you, of all people. You must be really distracted."
'You have no idea.' Riku replied to himself. 'Maybe one day I'll be able to tell you how I feel. Then I could tell you about how you're the very thing that makes me stay up all night You're the one that haunts my every dream, thought, desire. Oh, how this kills me inside!' Riku decided to put his thoughts away for the moment, and tried to enjoy his time.
"Oh, you didn't catch me off guard. I just wanted to make you think that, just so I could do this..." Riku playfully yelled before he leaped out of the water and fell on Sora. He held Sora under the water, just long enough to make Sora realize who's better. He couldn't help himself. He has always hated being shown up by anybody. Sora emerged from the water and laughed as he cough from the water in his mouth.
"Hey, that wasn't fair!!! You know I'm not quite as stong as you are. I'll get you one of these days."
"Sure...sure you will." Riku laughed as he began to walk towards the shore. Sora stood up and followed clumsily behind.
"Hey...(pant)...wait..up for me." Sora struggled to say as he leaned over, placed his hands on his knees, and panted.
"It won't work this time Sora. The last time I fell for that one, you jumped on me and started tickling me."
'Damn' Sora thought to himself. "But...I'm...not....(pant)...joking this..time."
Riku looked back and seen Sora panting really heavily. He was starting to get a little worried and walked over to him.
"Sora...are you oka...hey!!" Before he could finish what he was saying, he found himself on the sand below him. "Damn you Sora. You really....(laugh)...scared me there...for a sec." He was trying to get the words out but he found it wasn't easy as Sora was pinning him down and tickling him. RIku didn't mind getting pinned down like that. In fact, he loved it, but he wasn't going to let Sora know that quite yet,
"Hey, get off me!!! That wasn't fair."
"Ha, like you know what being fair means." Sora sarcastically replied as he climbed off Riku. Riku then stood up and started wiping sand off himself.
"That was fun. I wonder what else we can do now."
"Hmmm...I'm not sure. I'm not use to being out this late. I sure am glad my mom let be stay out here tonight. It's always so beautiful here. I kind of feel like going for a walk along the shore." Riku blushed. It was like Sora knew all his dreams and fantasies. He gave a big sigh and ran to catch up to Sora once he snapped out of his thoughts.
The two boys remained silent as they looked around at the sand, water and sky. Riku watched as a shooting star soared across the star-lit sky. He didn't bother to make a wish. He was happy just being with Sora like he was at that moment. He knew if anything would change, he would have to do it on his own. But for now, he'd take advantage of what he was given. Suddenly he heard a noise. He looked down and seen a path of ripples spreading out from the shore. He turned to his left and found Sora throwing stones out into the ocean.
Sora smiled. "I always loved trying to see how far I could skip stones on the water. I think that was my best one yet."
Riku gave a huge smirk. 'Two can play this game' he thought to himself. He picked up the flattest stone he could find, and he throw it as hard as he could.
*SPLASH*
Sora began laughing. The stone Riku had thrown went straight into the water. Riku got really frustrated. He picked up another stone and tried again.
*SPLASH*
Riku's face went dark red. He couldn't believe that he couldn't do such a simple trick. He began picking up more and more stones and throwing them into the ocean. Sora was watching Riku get more and more angry and began to worry. Riku was about to pick up one more stone but found he was stopped in mid-air by Sora. He looked over at him with a shocked look on his face.
"You know, you don't have to be good at everything." Riku lowered his arm. "Everyone has something they're bad at, and something they're good at. There's no need to get mad about it."
"You're right. Let's go do something else. I know, let's make a bonfire. I'll go get some wood and you gather some rocks."
"Okay, sounds like fun."
*At The Waterfall*
'I'm having so much fun tonight. I wish Riku and I could do this everynight.' Sora thought to himself as he walked around the wall that surrounded the falls. He was picking up a couple handful-sized rocks to take with him for the fire. He was barely paying any attention to anything but his thoughts about the night.
'I've never seen Riku act so lively like this before though. He's usually kind of quite and will occasionally have a burst of energy. But tonight, he just seems full of it. He sure seems to have fun when he's with me. He is such a good friend to me, but I think I want more than that. What happened earlier just brought so many new feelings to the surface. I think I've had these feelings for a while but I guess I just never noticed them before. I don't know if it's just because of the kiss, or if it's really because I like him. I'm not exactly sure what to feel right now, but I'll just act like his friend till I can figure out my mind and...my heart.'
Sora gathered up a couple more rocks, then started his was back to their meeting spot on the paopu island.
*On The Other Side Of The Island*
'Sora doesn't know how much he tortures me sometimes. He is just so naive. I just want to come out and tell him that I love him, but I'd probably just scare him away. I still remember the way he reacted when I kissed him. He backed away from me. Damnit, I was so stupid!' Riku yelled out as he punched a nearby tree. He then looked down and his hand and mouthed a silent 'Ow'. He walked around for a bit, looking for some pieces of wood.
'I hate myself so much right now. I'm such a fool to be even thinking of trying to get Sora to like me. It's going to ruin our friendship if I don't stop. But...should I really stop? I don't think I could keep going on with my life, just being his friend. I think I should eventually tell him, but only when the time is right. Now, is not a good time yet. I don't even know how he feels about me. I'm so confused on what to do. Maybe I should just at least act normal around him for a while. Maybe these feelings aren't even real and maybe it's just lust for him or just a crush. I guess I'll figure that out sometime. I should stop thinking about this and get back to our spot. He's probably there by now.'
Riku then started walking back to their area, holding an armful of wood.
*On The Paopu Island*
Riku arrived with the wood, to find that Sora was already there. Sora had been there for a couple minutes and had the rocks aready set up in a circle beside the paopu tree. Riku smiled and walked over to him. He then dropped the wood bside the rocks and sat down. He threw some of the wood in the circle and grabbed a couple of the smallest rocks and began banging them together. Soon, a small spark ignited some of the small dry pieces of wood. A small flame began to form and soon started reaching for the sky. It grew to about 2 feet high, which was enough for them.
Sora looked out to the sea and sighed. It caught Riku's attention and he just couldn't help himself.
"What's up?"
"Oh nothing. Just enjoying the view." Sora replied as he closed his eyes and sighed again with a smile upon his face. Riku smiled too and layed down onto the sand. He held his hands behind his head and he closed his eyes as well.
But as soon as they got comfortable in their own little worlds, something startled them. Riku jumped up into a sitting position as Sora looked beside him. The noise had came from a little paopu fruit that had fallen off of a branch that hung over the fire. The two looked at the fruit, then at each other. Neither spoke for a moment and the silence continued as the clouds rolled across the dark sky.

Ooooo....what does this mean for the two? Will they take it as a sigh, or will they just ignore it? I'd like your input on this story so far. I'm kind of making it up as I go and if you guys want to help, feel free to give me suggestions or if you have any questions, then ask away. Thanks for the reviews I've recieved so far. It feels so good to read them.
