The Damned and Coffee Breaks
By: Silvius
The sun settled in the bedroom window the following morning. The rays pierced the room and covered the three men that shared the bed with warmth. Steve tossed and turned his back to the sun, while Hwoarang rolled and stretched. Unfortunately, it was a bit too much. Jin crashed to the floor with a loud thud; which at that point, awoke all three men.
After getting showered and dressed, the three men departed from the room and made their way to the entrance of the apartment. It was there that they encountered the first zombie. Slowly a male zombie stumbled toward them. Hwoarang smirked. He walked forward and landed a hard kick to the zombie’s head. The zombie’s made a large dull thud as the body hit the floor. Steve and Jin just gave him a look.
“What? The head is their weakness, it always is. Gawd, don’t you two watch any zombie flicks?”
They both just shook their heads, then Hwoarang shook his head. “What’s this world coming to?” They made their way out of the lobby, Jin with his navy-hooded jumpsuit with a bag slung over his shoulder, Hwoarang in his orange and black leather vest and pants with belt straps down each leg, Steve in red leather pants with a white silk shirt. Stepping out onto the curb, the once bustling city had changed but wasn‘t exactly quiet, as screams and flames littered the air which was filled with sunshine.
“It fucking figures.” Hwoarang said disgusted, “It’s the end of the world and the goddamn sun is shining!” He made his way to the middle of the street looking to the right and left. He strained to look at something to his left. Jin had followed and was straining to see what the red-head was looking at. In the distance, there was a group of figures walking.
“That’s Uncle Lee!” exclaimed Jin. “It’s gotta be. No one else’s hair would glint that shiny in the sunlight.” Hwoarang chuckled.
“Let’s go see if the mate’s alright.” Steve said, starting to walk towards the group of figures. Hwoarang broke out into a laugh at this point and finally managed to speak.
“Yeah, we could always use him to signal an airplane.” Jin and Steve both laughed.
The three made their way toward the glint of silver, wondering who accompanied ‘Uncle Lee.’ Finally, they realized it was four Combots surrounding him, they watched as the Combots would strike down any zombies that came near Lee.
“Uncle Lee!” Jin yelled as they got closer. “Are you ok?”
“Yeah, I’m fine Jinny-poo.”
“I thought that Combot was defective?” Hwoarang said uneasily approaching the Combots.
“He was, these are from my personal collection.” Lee said with a smirk.
“I see that…” Hwoarang said as he smirked and bent forward examining the Combot in front of him. Leaning down further, he inspected the large rubber dildo attached to the crotch, flipping it with his finger.
“Where are we off to now, mates?” Steve said staring at the crotches of the Combots.
“Well mates, I planned to stop by your place to see if you two were alright?” Lee said pointedly to Jin and Hwoarang, while the three young men were occupied with staring at the Combots. “After that, I was off to see if Kazzy-poo was alright.”
“I think we’ll join you then, Baek’s supposed to be staying in that direction. Any objections Jin? Steve?” Hwoarang stated, looking for disapproval in the others’ faces.
“Then we’re off!” Lee said with a smile. “But first, a coffee break!” Hwoarang gave Lee a disgusted look shaking his head. He glanced at Steve and Jin. Steve just shook his head and smiled.
“Tea Time? But we’ve barely done anything today, and good luck finding a coffee shop that’s still open.”
“You may have not, but I’m parched and I’ve been traveling awhile.”
“Fine, but the place you’re going better serve alcohol.” Hwoarang scoffed.
“Don’t worry, Lil Hwoarangy--” Lee was suddenly cut off by Hwoarang.
“Don’t you DARE call me Hwoarangy-poo!!!!” Hwoarang glared at Lee, fuming. Lee just smiled. Steve started giggling, which led into a full-fledged laugh. Jin smiled slightly, holding back laughter.
“It’s not the service we’ll be looking for anyways, just the ingredients. My Combots can do the rest.” Lee said looking around at the businesses surrounding them. “What would you prefer MR. Hwoarang, what type of drink?” The tone of antagonism very apparent in his voice. Hwoarang grit his teeth and seethed for a moment; then Lee came up and put an arm around him. “Don’t be like that, lighten up, Hwoarang.”
“Anything, ANYTHING, as long as it has alcohol!” The red-head yelled. A zombie ran out of the nearby alleyway straight at Hwoarang. A Combot quickly intercepted it, crushing its head in his claw.
“Keep it down, do you want to have this bloody place swarming with undead?” Steve snapped at Hwoarang.
“Anyways, I’m not sure where the nearest bar is, but I’ll have one of the Combots look around.” Lee said, as he walked up to the one that had just crushed the wandering zombie’s head. He toggled a switch on the back and then spoke to it. “Combot, use GPS mapping to locate the nearest place that serves alcohol, then go and obtain as much as you can hold; bring it to the Starbucks that it located two blocks south of here, GO!” The Combot stood there for a few seconds then walked off into the city.
Lee led the group to Starbucks. It was open, but there were a few over-turned tables and some chairs scattered around; thankfully, five of the tables were still upright. Once they got there, Lee flipped the little switch on one of the Combots and started giving it orders. He sent the other two to the entrance to stand guard. Hwoarang sat down and put his legs up on the table, crossing them. Jin set his bag down and sat next to Hwoarang, burying his face into his arms on the table. Steve flipped a chair backwards and straddled it.
“Just give him your order.” Lee announced, pointing to the Combot.
“I’ll have tea, preferably lemon.” Steve spoke up.
“Jin, what’ll you have?” Lee asked. Jin raised his head for a moment.
“Just milk.” He said, before burying his face back into his arms. Hwoarang chuckled to himself.
“Headache Jinny-poo?” Lee said, walking over to him. Jin nodded. “Here, take one of these.” Lee handed Jin a small white pill.
“Midol?” Jin looked up in confusion.
“Yeah, it’ll help with the headache. It’s better than anything else. I keep a bottle with me always.” Lee said holding up a pill bottle and shaking it. Moments later, the Combot who had left came back carrying a good fifteen bags of various alcoholic beverages. The red-head’s eyes followed the giant payload of sweet alcoholic goodness.
“Fuck yes, how about we just take this and go back to the apartment!” Hwoarang said with a giant grin. He was now sorting through the giant mass of bottles that the Combot had set on one of the tables, finally pouring a glass from one of the bottles for himself and sitting back down next to Jin. Lee had gotten his drink and sat down, while setting a map upon the table. Hwoarang, Jin, and Steve gathered around with their drinks.
“We are here.” Lee stated, pointing to one of the streets. “Mishima Mansion lies to the north, about a mile out of city limits. The most direct route would be this bridge…” Lee said, pointing to another spot on the map.
“Let me guess,” Hwoarang interrupted. “The bridge is out.”
“Yeah, it was on the news before the TV stations went off the air…” Lee trailed off.
“It would have to be out, the most direct route is always blocked or something.” Hwoarang smirked and then continued. “So, that means we can head downtown to the west and then north, ‘cause Baek’s staying over that way. We can see if he’s alright and then head to see if ‘Kazzy-poo’ is alright.” Hwoarang stood up walked over to his table of goodness and refilled his cup then sat back down.
“My mum might be downtown, her flat is near there, so is Auntie Anna’s.” Steve said, pointing a little distance away from where Hwoarang had pointed out Baek’s place.
The group got up and went back out into the street, something caught Hwoarang’s eyes. He ran across the street and kicked in the door. He walked back out with a pistol in his hand and he tucked it into his pants. He walked slowly back towards the group.
“What?” He asked once he reached them.
“Nothing, Hwoarang.” Lee said.
“We’d expect nothing less from the ‘Legendary Blood Talon’ after all, you’re dangerous.” Steve said, playfully punching Hwoarang on the shoulder. The red-head just smirked, then punched him back.
Jin smiled at Hwoarang, who walked up and slapped the dark-haired man’s ass.
“How’s your head, Jin?” Hwoarang asked playfully.
“Better…” Jin said meeting the Korean’s gaze. Hwoarang got closer then kissed him, parting his lover’s pink abusable lips forcefully with his tongue. After the initial shock of the kiss, Jin warmly accepted it. Hwoarang backed off, looking to Lee and Steve, then he glanced back at Jin.
“Ready babe? Let’s go, mates.” He said with a smirk. The group set off toward their newfound destination.
