Chapter 2

“That was so weird...” he murmured, his breathing finally slowing down. “Kade!” someone to his left shouted, and he smiled as he looked; the blonde girl from his dream, with her angled bangs and deep blue eyes, came ambling over with a gently annoyed wave. “Hey Larxene. What is it you need now?” Kade asked, wiping his shoes free of the sticky, wet sand.

Larxene put her hand on her hip and her eyebrow shot up. “Well, I need you to wake up! You know it’s a pain when you don’t help us around here! It’s amazing that we’re related.” Larxene’s outfit was simple and petite; she wore a fitted pink tanktop that had the print of a winking bunnie on the front, and had a dark green skirt with pink-striped white tennis shoes.

Kade grinned. “Well, at least we know that I’m the good-looking one of the family!” he laughed, watching Larxene’s face turn beet red. “Oooh, you!!” she cried, running around after her younger brother. “Hey, what’re you two doing?”

They both stopped, looking up at a coconut tree to see a boy with silvery blue hair standing atop it. He wore a fitted blue t-shirt, with a black marking of the same design as Kade’s pendant. His pants were dark cerulean blue, and he had solid black boots. “Aren’t you gonna let me in on the fun too?” the boy grinned, jumping down. “Well, Diz, we wouldn’t expect you to enjoy yourself by playing games with us, you know, cause you’re such a graceful, formal guy.”

The silver-haired Diz beamed widely. “Well, formal people have to have fun, don’t they?” he looked around. “Hey, where’s--WHOA!” he cried, knocked over by someone suddenly tackling him from behind. “Hey everyone! I’m here!” a girl rose up from Diz’s back, her hair spiky and a magenta-burgundy color, and shoulder-length. She wore a solid red halter top, and dark blue jean shorts.

“Well, there’s Marluxia,” Diz murmured painfully as he sat up, rubbing the small of his back. (AN: I gave Marluxia a gender change, since the male in KH: CoM always struck me better as a woman. ^^) Marluxia giggled and wrapped her arms around the older boy’s neck. “Oh you’re so funny, Diz! You should be a comedian!” the young girl flirted, now shifting to sit in his lap.

“Hmm, we’ll see about that,” he murmured, lifting the flirty Marluxia out of his lap, making her pout. “Oooh, you are no fun at all! Meanie!” she shouted, sticking her tongue out.

“Hey, I’m 19, you and Larxene are 18, and he’s 15,” Diz indicated the dazed Kade; “it might be possible sometime, but right now, we wouldn’t work out together.” Marluxia pouted some more before muttering a sad “okay.” Diz smiled and stood up. “Oh, did any of you know? Someone new moved into our islands.”

“Really?” the girls asked in unison, and Diz nodded. “He’s 17, from appearance. I heard his family calling him Sam or something when he was moving in.” Kade’s stomach flipped. “Did you get to take a good look at him? What’d he look like?”

Diz grinned. “Well, someone’s certainly curious!” Kade crossed his arms and pouted to hide his embarrassment. “I’m just wondering is all, for god’s sake...” Diz chuckled. “Okay, okay, mr. snappy. Well, what from what I could see, he was wearing black pants and red and white striped socks, no shoes. He had some, umm....linen wrapped around his hands, and he didn’t have a shirt.”

Kade gasped as the dream flashed through his mind once again. The man he’d seen in his dream looked exactly the same--but it could be someone else. “What color was his hair, Diz?” “It was a navy blue. Why?” Kade’s suspicions were confirmed: the newcomer of the Destiny Islands was, in fact, the man he had seen in his dream.

“Cool! Maybe now little baby Kade can have a new friend to hang out with!” Larxene teased cruelly, giggling as she tackled her baby brother and gave him a noogie. “Yeah!!” Marluxia squealed, bouncing over and jumping atop the two. “K-knock it off...” Kade murmured, struggling to escape his sister’s grip. “I said, knock it off!!” Kade yelled, throwing his older sister and her friend off of him.

“Calm down, Kade. They were just playing around,” Diz said gently, but still Kade brooded angrily. “Can you just leave me alone? You” he pointed at Larxene, “always make fun of me and you,” he pointed at Marluxia, “you think it’s funny and you always join in trying to make it even more funny, when in reality, you make it worse! And you,” he pointed at Diz, “you never help me out of my problems with my idiot sister and her moronic friend! None of you are worth talking to!! I’m going home, where I can be left alone.”

At that, the fuming blonde turned on his heel and stomped off towards the docks, leaving deep imprints of his shoes in the sand. “Kade...” Larxene whispered, her arm outstretched towards her brother, but Diz put his hand on her shoulder, shaking his head. “Let him be. He needs some time by himself.” Larxene looked longingly after him, but slowly nodded back.
