Feminine Company
Chapter Two – Feminine Company
The next morning – if you could call something that early morning – Hatter busted opened WinK’s door and took a step in, soft light spilling in through the hallway, casting her in a black silhouette. WinK grumbled softly at the intrusion into the dream world and glared at her, wondering if the hostess could even see it. Suddenly a small form was tossed onto WinK’s bed with loud and complaining chatter.
“I need to go, I’ll be gone for a week,” Hatter said. “Amun will keep you company and such. Please stay out of trouble.” With that she turned on her heel before the angel could protest and walked out, leaving the door open with light still spilling into the room, over the bed and into WinK’s eyes. The little creature Amun grumbled sadly but turned around to inspect the new house guest. He climbed up to sit on WinK’s chest, staring openly.
“Oh, come off it,” the sleepy angel replied and leaned over to turn on the lamp. WinK heard Amun squeak and fall backwards and laughed, tugging on a lock of hair. “I thought I’d go feminine for a little be,” she said with a wicked grin.
Throwing her legs over the side of the bed WinK looked around for the small messenger bag that she had with her at all times. Spotting it she tugged it over and shoved her hand down in it, her elbow disappearing a lot farther into the bag than physically possible. A magical bag, simply put. With a smile she pulled out a simple white dress, and with a little more digging shoes that matched, looking almost like ballet slippers with the long ribbons. After getting dressed she pulled on her white hoodie that she wore whether male or female and looked at Amun.
“You just watched me change,” she said.
He nodded.
With a giggle she added, “And I bet you enjoyed it too you little monster.”
Again, a nod.
WinK laughed, amused and crossed her arms under her barely-visible new chest. “All right,” she said. “Where do we go for food? And what kind is there?”
Amun launched himself off of the bed and landed on WinK’s shoulder, nuzzling her cheek and muttering, “Strawberries, lots and lots of strawberries. I will take you to the kitchen. Turn left when you go out into the hallway,” he said. WinK giggled softly and followed Amun’s instructions until she was downstairs and in the kitchen. After making a simple peanut butter and (strawberry) jelly sandwich, one for her and one for Amun, she thought for a moment while the little Sylph guzzled down a cup of strawberry soda. Obsessed little creature.
“Can we go shopping?” WinK said, after reading a little note Hatter had left on the counter. She was allowed to walk through the city as long as Amun was with her wherever she went. Simple enough to follow, all she had to do was keep feeding the little black creature strawberries and he’d be happy.
Amun though didn’t seem to mind this prospect. “Shopping?” he asked, excitedly, his tail twitching with anticipation. “Really? Hatter never goes shopping! I will explore and shop with you!”
WinK smiled and tucked an old iron key into her hoodie pocket, patting the Sylph on the head as they stepped out of the house and into the sunlight that still seemed cold as they walked through the garden in front of the house. The angel didn’t even notice thents nts reaching out towards her clothes as she walked innocently by them. Amun turned and hissed at one plant who reached out a thorn-like-claw to make a grab for the white dress. Once it had given up and WinK was safely out of the garden and onto the street Amun turned and sat down again.
“This place is so big! With so many more buildings than the other cities I’ve been to!” she exclaimed softly.
Amun chattered softly and in a language that WinK didn’t understand and she giggled and walked through the large crowds, looking at the buildings and the people. At midday they bought lunch from a stand and ate quietly (well, WinK did, Amun ripped through the strawberries like he was about to die). Once she finished the last bite of her meat-pastry WinK looked up and spotted a store that caught her interest.
“C’mon Amun,” she said, tugging on his tail.
He hopped up on her shoulder and poked his nose into her ear. “Where are we going?” he asked, not catching the sign as she strolled into the store. “Ahhh, you’re going to do what I think you’re going to do aren’t you?” he asked, spotting the large amounts of furniture inside the building.
WinK grinned and played with her bag, knowing she had a large sum of money inside, more than enough for what she needed. “Of course I am.”
Later that evening WinK had them deliver the furniture and even help find places for the things that had been in her room. After fluttering her eyelashes and blowing a kiss or two the delivery men left, leaving WinK and Amun alone to move and straighten everything. That night the angel and Amun made plans to visit other stores to finish furnishing her room and the small bathroom that Hatter had designated as Wink’s own.
By the time the week was over WinK’s room was fully furnished with white drapes for the window, a large white area rug, and white bed-things, including curtains for the new four poster. The desk was a little different and Amun had helped (with the promise of fresh strawberries, which he had received later) install a small fountain. A wardrobe to match the desk and bed had been added, and all of the clothing WinK could find out of her endless bag had been washed, pressed and hung up.
The last few days before Hatter returned home she’d spent time cleaning and maintaining the pools out back, making sure that all of them worked. Amun had been absent from helping, although he had watched, amazed as WinK purified water with just a touch, or moved water from an overflowing pool to a nearly-empty one.
When Hatter returned WinK was sitting next to the pools, the demon trudging around the house with a piece of paper in her hand. The only sign that Hatter gave of WinK’s changed gender was a simple raised eyebrow before she said, “Come with me.”
When WinK hesitated Hatter pulled her up by the arm and tugged her around the pools, slightly roughlntilntil she was dragging the white-dressed girl up the stairs. Hatter roughly shoved WinK into the angel’s room and pulled her sun-glasses, which had been resting on top of her head next to her horns, down over her eyes. “What the hell is this?” she asked sharply.
“My room,” WinK replied a bit softly, feeling chastised.
“No,” hissed Hatter. “What is this?” she asked, tugging on a curtain.
“A curtain.”
“Very good feather-brain. What color is it?”
“White.”
“Why is it white?”
“Because that’s the color I picked out.”
“You bought all of this?” Hatter asked, crossing her arms.
WinK nodded slowly. She hadn’t thought this would be a problem, after all, if she was living here and this was her room didn’t Hatter want her to be comfortable? Shifting from barefoot to barefoot she watched Hatter who seemed to have paused in her chastisement. After a moment the demon sighed and shook her head. “I won’t wake you up ever, or ever come in here during the day time. With the sunlight it’s too bright for my eyes,” was all she said before walking out of the room.
WinK let out the breath that she hadn’t known she’d been holding in and sat down on her bed, relieved.
“WINK!”
With a surprised squeak she launched herself up off of the bed and ran downstairs, her feet flying as she nearly stumbled on the second-to-last step. Hatter’s shriek had come from her library, and she was sitting comfortably as is the demon hadn’t even screamed her new house-mate’s name. Her hands were holding onto paperwork, and from WinK could see they were bills of sale, with ink that was still wet. Looking up, her violet eyes slightly annoyed, Hatter spoke. “You have too much time on your hands. Part of what I do here, as you can see, is take in pets. I’ve just bought you one.”
And thus, WinK was brought into the world of Breedables Street.
