Black Alley

The next day (or night, as it were) Kataliya awoke at dusk, as per usual. She began her daily routine before heading to Black Alley, an alley where all the illegal activity in the city is managed, and where Kataliya usually got her jobs from.

She first went to Drogeth, to see if he had a job for her. Which he did.

"Drogeth." She said simply as she entered The small, non-descript room. He was sitting behind the table in the middle of the room, counting his few gold peices. Times had been hard for those in less than honest trades since the Church of St. Cuthburt had been founded.

The thin, wiry man looked up, his small, beady, black eyes darting around the room continually. His skin pale and his teeth yellow and uneven. All in all, he had very rat-like features, A trait which all informants seemed to share.

"I've got b thb that you might be interested in." He said without greeting her.

"What kind of job?"

"The bloody kind." He said, grinning. The little ratty bastard seemed to delight in the suffering of others. Of course, this was one thing the two of them had in common.

"Who's the client?"

He hesitated, because he knew she wasn't going to like the answer.

"The church of St. Cuthburt."

"Tell them I'm not interested." She turned to walk out.

"I told them you'd say that. They said you could name any price you like." He said, desperate for her to take the job, because of the hefty finder's fee that was being offered to him.

She stopped.

"Any price?" She knew St. Cuthburt's priests were stupid, but not that stupid.

"They want you to kill a priest of Erythnul that has recently been discovered. His name is Damarell, the they don't know where he lives or where the cult practices it's worship. They asked for you specifically."

"They asked for me?" Now she knew they were up to something. But the pay was just to good, she couldn't pass this up.

"Yeah, I thought it was strange as well. They said you might be able to find this Damarell guy at the Seven Stars inn."

She smirked. She had been to the Seven Stars on many occasions, and knew it was run by doppelgangers. She had heard rumors of a cult existing below the inn. This was going to be easy.

She walked out without saying goodbye to the rat-faced snitch, and walked down towards the inn.
