Chapter Two: REUNION
"Escape Vessels from the Vector R&D Division cruise ship 78, now boarding Kukai Foundation.... Access Approved." A member of the watch team said as the escape vessle entered the foundation.
"We've been approved..." Rain said sadly as she recalled the events that she witnessed before the destruction of the ship.
"Okay, we must contact Headquarters and tell them the events that took place." Shriek added as he typed in the code to open the hatch of the escape vessel.
"Welcome to the Kukai Foundation, please, come with me, I will take you our U.M.N. port." A woman with long blonde hair and light blue and white outfit, said as she led them to a large room. "Something terrific must have happened, I'm sorry.eardeard that a Vector ship was seen in pieces a few moments ago from one of out scouter ships, it wouldn't surprise me if that's were you came from, I base that on your uniforms." The woman said as she connected a secure line to the Vectordquadquarters from them, "I will give you privacy." The woman left.
Rain slowly walked to the screen, "Requesting to speak.... to Chief Uzuki..." Rain said with many pauses.
"Chief Uzuki isn't here at the moment, Lieutenant Krijevskoy is here though, would this be a matter he could help with?" The man on the screen asked.
"That's fine..." Rain said with sadness.
"Commander Sakura? I am glad to see you made it out of the cruiser safely, want to tell me what happened? I heard that there was many Gnosis swarming around."
Rain looked down, "Yes... Commander Requiem Faye.... he and the Vx-99999... they..." Rain said unable to talk.
"The Gnosis destroyed the ship," Shriek said stepping in, "Requiem Faye and the VX-99999 is believe to have escaped. The Gnosis demolished the ship, Commander Sakura and I were able to escape with minor scrapes and bruises, another escape pod was seen leaving, but the identity of the pilot in unknown."
Rain took a few steps back, letting Shriek continue his words of deceit.
"Yes sir, I understand. We will board the ship docking here from Vector." Shriek agreed.
"The ship will arrive in 1200 hours, get some rest in the meantime." Lieutenant Krijev sai said with a kind voice, turning off the connection.
"Why... why did you lie? I know you saw what happened...." Rain asked holding back her sad emotions.
"Would you like for Faye to have been executed? The consequences for destroying the ship, not to mention the countless soldiers he murdered out there." Shriek responded.
"Murdered? It could have been a malfunction within the VX-999..." Rain was cut off.
"You know as well as I do, or even better, that there was no way in hell it could have a malfunction that big. Faye deliberately killed all those men, and even destroyed the ship purposely. I don't understand why... but he did." Shriek interrupted as he turned his back.
"Wait... and you say all this as if..... as if when you lie, it doesn't bring you guilt, and when you saw your 'friends' killed it didn't bring you sadness?" Rain asked Shriek with his back still turned.
"Although I am capable of using my programming overh feh features, I see no need, let us find a room to sleep in tonight." Shriek said with a harsh tone, "I am quite knowledgeable of the Kukai Foundation, I know a place where we can rest, follow me." Rain followed Shriek to the City Sector 26 & 27.
"Our Treasure Hotel?" Rain asked looking up at the tall building.
"Exactly." Shriek said as he entered the place. Rain slowly entered, recalling every scene of Faye harging up the dual guns to shoot... his own ship. "Here, room 25." Shriek said handing her a hotel card, "I'll be at the Iron Mar iar if you need me." Rain walked up the stairs, watching each step at if a hand would come out from under it and grab her, eventually, she made it to her room.
Rain sat on the window pane, letting her legs dangle out the window. "Why would he do this? Did... he want... to k-kill me...?" Rain thought to herself as she felt white. Rain stared into the simulated sky of the Foundation, "Would you really want to kill me, Faye?" She once again thought to herself.
Shriek spoke to the barkeep, "What is the strongest thing you have?" he said pulling out his wallet.
"Eh? You want a Red Eye?" The barkeep said tending to another customer. The barkeep gave an intrigued look and went to mix the ingredients. "Here you are sir, that'll be 50G." barkbarkeep said taking the G. Everyone in the bar stared at Shriek.
"You think he'll keep it down?"
"That pretty boy? Now Way!"
"I have never seen him before, that newcomer is going to wish he never ordered that, heh heh heh." People in the back said aloud as they all watched him. Shriek picked up the glass and looked at the red drink, the guzzled it down.
"It's a pitty I payed so much for such a weak drink..." Shriek said standing up, looking at the people. The customers went wide eyed as they were incredulous over what the new stranger did. Shriek wiped his mouth from the red liquid, and left, leaving the people there with faces of awe, not to meantion speechless. Shriek walked into the hotel, and ran quickly up the stairs, to the room he checked out. "I'm back... Rain?" Shriek called as he scanned the room with his eyes, "I wonder where she went."
Rain walked across the simulated hot sand. She walked to the clear blue water of the Foundation's Beach. She stood in the cold water,
"Hello." a voice called from behind her.
Rain looked to her side, "H-Hello...." she said with obvious sadness, as a tear fell from her face into the crystal waters, blending in.
"Oh c'mon, I can't stand to see girls cry, what's wrong?" the voice said again, walking closer. Rain turned around to see a red haired boy wearing blue swimming trunks. "WOW!" the 'boy' thought, "SHE'S HOT!"
Rain looked at him, "Don't worry about it... you're too young to understand." The 'boy' looked at her, "I'm older than I look." he walked closer to her, "If you're wor abo about anyone hearing, no one else is here, I reserved the beach to myself, but I'll gladly share it with you." The boy said with a happy voice. "By the way, My name is Jr. Kukai."
Rain looked at the boy, still with no interest, "So you're related to Gaigun Kukai?"
Jr. gazed at the girl, "You could say that, I didn't get your name."
Rain turned back ad, "d, "I didn't give it." Rain said in a gentle, still sad tone.
"Well, maybe you could talk to Gaigun me, me, I heard about the ship, I'm sorry. I see my time of fun has already ended, well, talk to you later, Rain." Jr. said running off to the exit.
Rain thought nothing of it, and looked back to the water, tears running down her pale skin. The simulated sky became dark, and an image of a full moon hung overhead, shining brightly. "I-I had better get some rest before the ship arrives..." Rain whispered, talking to herself.
Rain slowly lingered her way to the hotel as she heard, "Unidentified A.G.W.S. detected in the vicinity." Rain looked up and matimatically thought of Faye and the VX-99999.
She ran to the place where passengers could see who's docking. A hand grabbed Rain's arm as she turned around. "F-F-Faye?!" she said pulling away from his arm and embracing him. "I was so scared that... that something may have happened to you in the explosion..." Rain said almost breaking out in tears.
"I'm okay." Faye said with a sympathetic smile.
Rain let go, and took a few steps back. "Why... why did you destroy the s.?" .?" Rain asked looking at him, in almost a accusing glare.
"There were approximately 7,937 Gnosis on the ship. The only way I could kill all of them was..." Faye whispered.
"But... I could have been killed! I.... I thought we were friends..." Faye looked sadly down at Rain.
"I shot after I confirmed that one of the two escape pods launching, was you... I couldn't wait any longer, Gnosis started to form around me, it was then, or never..."
Rain smiled a little,am gam glad we are okay... I have already contacted the headquarters..."
Faye looked down, "I should look forward to years of punishment..." Faye whispered under his breath.
"Shriek... lied for you... he said it was all the Gnosis..." Rain said with a glimmer of happiness in her eyes.
