This fic was inspired by Evanescence's Bring Me to Life. Great group love their music. All the usual warnings as well. Violence, Angst, and of course language. Riku didn't go to school for three days. He really didn't want to have to explain that he had gotten into another fistfight. That would only make Sora worried and Riku hated making Sora worry about him. Hell Sora was the only one at school that cared. That alone meant a lot to Riku and he swore he would never let anything bad happen to Sora while he was around. Riku had been getting high more and more often. He had used up all of the drugs he had in a three-day span. Riku didn't really know what caused him to take all of his drugs. He 't 't know if it was because his life sucked and he hated waking up in the morning or if it was because every time he had to look at his best friend he was reminded that Riku wasn't good enough for Sora. Riku had come to term with his feelings for Sora a long time ago. Sora had captivated Riku's heart but Riku hid it fearing Sora’s reaction. Rejection was something Riku was used to. But if Sora rejected Riku it would be the icing on the cake for Riku's already miserable life. Besides the way Riku looked at it is why would Sora want him when he has Kairi?

Riku walked down the street just trying to kill time before Sora got out of school. He had his hands in his jean pockets and his hair loosely pulled back. The black eye he had was turning a greenish color stating it was healing and his lip was just bruised a bit. As Riku was walking a tall, silver haired man walked up to him. Riku looked up seeing the man and raised an eyebrow but didn't say anything at first. The man had an almost orange look to his eyes. He smiled at Riku and stopped.

"Hello there.... you look like you could use a bit of something...something to make your troubles and misery go away.” He said. Riku just looked at him.

"Sorry...don't know what you're talking about. Who are you anyway?"Riku asked as he kept his hands in his pockets.

"My name is Ansem.... and you know exactly what I’m talking about Riku." He said with a raise of an eyebrow. Riku froze and looked at the man.

"How do you know me?"Riku asked eyeing the man suspiciously. Ansem laughed softly.

"My dear boy...I know everything about you...I’ve been watching you for some time. I see everything that goes on in your life.."Ansem replied. Riku started to look a bit freaked out by this. Riku started to fidget nervously which was one of the side effects from the drugs he took. Ansem gave him a sympathetic look and brushed some hair from his eyes.

"You don't know anything about me...and don't touch me."Riku said as he pulled back so Ansem couldn't touch him. That brought another chuckle from the silver haired man.

"You poor thing...already getting so sick.... I know everything Riku.... I know about your foster father and his ways."Ansem said as he started circling Riku like a vulture. He stopped so he was behind Riku and whispered in his ear so only he could hear.

"I know your deepest...darkest desires as well Riku. I know its Sora you dream about is it not? But so insecure.... so sure that Sora wants Kairi over you. You are right Riku. Sora doesn't look at you that way...I see into his heart as well. Kairi...she doesn't care about you...noone does do they?"Ansem whispered. Riku had shut his eyes tightly hearing things he didn’t' want to hear. He could feel the twisting in his heart from Ansem's words fearing they were true. Riku trembled lightly before he forced himself to stop.

"Fuck you...I know that's not true...Sora cares..."Riku spoke through gritted teeth. Ansem chuckled again brushing some hair back from Riku’s ear.

"Does he?” was Ansem's answer. Riku trembled more fighting to keep his tears from falling. Why was he even listening? Riku knew he shouldn't be listening to this...but all of his insecurities and fears started coming into play. Riku didn't say anything as Ansem lightly ran his finger down Riku's shoulder.

"I even know about your love for both sexes Riku.... I have what you want.... I have what you need. After all.... I hate seeing you suffer like this dear boy. So young yet already so broken."Ansem said as he looked at Riku.

"...And what's that? That you have that I need?"Riku whispered. Ansem smirked as he watched him. Ansem knew he had Riku right where he wanted him. He didn't really care for Riku in the slightest. This was all a game to him. He enjoyed breaking his prey before capturing them. He enjoyed seeing them break down from sorrow and torment. Ansem waved his hand summoning something. It was a rather good-sized black bottle. Being the ruler of the Heartless he had abilities no living humouldould ever have. He held the bottle to Riku with a gentle smile.

"This. This is called Black Thorns. Its a very potent and powerful suppressant. It will take all of your pain and torment away."Ansem said hiding his smirk.

"Oh yes.... it will indeed.... it will make you mine my beautiful Riku. And you won't even see it coming."Ansem thought. Riku looked at the bottle before he looked at Ansem.

"What's your price?"Riku asked knowing full well nothing came for free. Ansem offered him the bottle again.

"No charge.... I only want to see your misery melt away.... take it its yours. Take as much as you want it will never run out."Ansem replied. Riku eyed him wearily before he gave in and took the bottle. Ansem patted Riku on the shoulder and started walking.

"I'll keep in touch to see how its working for you."Ansem said before he turned the corner leaving Riku there. Riku looked at the bottle and wiped his eyes with the back of his hand. Riku looked over and seen a drug store. He looked at the bottle again and sniffed before he got out some money and went into the drug store. Riku bought a package of syringes and kept the bottle in his pocket being it was about the size of a large insulin bottle. After buying the syringes he walked out and walked behind the store. He took out the bottle and quickly filled one of the needles. Riku stared at the almost ink like liquid for a moment before he suddenly injected it in his arm wincing and injected the fluid into him the temptation was too great not to. Riku pulled the empty syringe out of his arm and let it drop leaning against the wall. Immediately it started to work and Riku had to shut his eyes from the vertigo of it. Within moments Riku felt himself almost go completely numb. Riku opened his eyes and looked around feeling a bit better. Riku had to admit the high off this drug was incredible. Riku leaned against the wall just staring in front of him and crossing his legs in front of him feeling the world almost melt away.

Sora and Kairi were walking out of the school building being school had let out. Sora had his arm around Kairi’s shoulders and looked around expecting to see Riku. When Sora didn’t see him he frowned. Kairi seen Sora’s frown immediately.

“Sora? What’s wrong?” Kairi asked in her normal bubbly voice. Sora looked at her and then looked around some more for Riku.

“Its Riku. Its been three days with no word from him. He hasn’t been at school. Which didn’t worry me so much. But he always waits for us after school and none of us have seen him.”Sora said. Kairi scowled before she pulled away from him crossing her arms. Sora looked at Kairi puzzled about her behavior. He didn’t know whether to file her attitude under PMS or something seriously wrong.

“Kairi?” Sora asked.

“I’m starting to think you care more about Riku than you do me! You already know how I feel about Riku! I feel he is a bad influence and that he’ll get you in trouble or hurt…”Kairi said before she looked down at her feet. Sora walked over to Kairi and took her hand before then tilting her chin up to look at him.

“Kairi….Riku is our friend. He hasn’t made any kind of contact with us and I’m worried something might have happened to him. Aren’t you worried about him?”Sora asked his voice soft. Kairi looked at him and looked into his eyes before looking away.

“He’s your friend Sora. I don’t trust him. But I won’t stop you from being friends with him. I just think he’s bad news. He has major issues.” Kairi said. She suddenly giggled and wrapped her arms around Sora’s neck.

“Lets go have some fun…just you and me Sora. We can worry about Riku later.”Kairi said as she tilted her head. Sora looked at her and frowned. He had no idea what had gotten into her. But he smiled and nodded letting her lead the way. He really was worried about Riku but he decided he would call him later or stop by his house. Sora deep down though had a really bad feeling.

“Damn these gut feelings…they’re usually right…”Sora thought to himself but put on a smile for Kairi when she turned around.
