Jack leaned her head toward the door on the far corner of the interrogation room, her shoulders aching slightly from their awkward position in her restraints. She could have gotten out any time were it not for the tingle of the electric current running through her arms, nullifying any muscle movement and any chance to use her biotics. "Hey, assholes!" Jack whistled her loudest at the door. "I gotta pee! You don't want me messing up this nice shiny floor, do you?"

Silence was her only response for several minutes before the door opened, and a woman with short blond hair stepped through. She stuck her head out to speak a few words to her colleagues before letting the door shut with a soft click. She seemed in no hurry as she slowly walked to the chair opposite Jack at the table inside the sterile room. Slowly, she sat down, reading from a data pad in her hands.

Jack squirmed, not liking the silent treatment she was getting. "Who the fuck are - "

"Jacqueline Naught," the blond woman began, her face impassive as she read from the data pad. "Born 2161, biotic potential discovered in 2165." The woman read her file as though she were going through that week's gossip column. "Acquired by Cerberus in 2165 to begin research at Teltin facility on Pragia. Mother was told her daughter died due to complications from biotic abilities."

Jack scowled, she already knew all of this when Shepard shared the files with her from the Shadow Broker's research on the crew. "Old news, lady."

The blond woman only responded with a twitch of her eyebrows. "Rap sheet spans the distance from Earth to Luna."

Jack only laughed, her grin turning murderous, "If that's all you read, you've missed half of it."

"A crew member of Commander Shepard when she went through the Omega 4 Relay. Hasn't worn more than a strap north of the equator for more than a decade."

Jack snarled, "Just who the fuck do you think you are, bitch?"

"I am the woman who saved your life."

"Yea, right." Jack rolled her eyes, shifting her shoulders again to ease the ache in them. "I can take care of myself. I don't need no secretaries saving me from idiots who are stupid enough to pick a fight with me."

"Those 'idiots' were Cerberus, and they planned on doing more than pick a fight." The woman looked up at Jack without lifting her head before lowering her eyes back to the data pad. "They've restarted the experiments began at the Teltin facility and they need their greatest success. Subject Zero."

Jack went silent, her smile fading into terror before she schooled her expression into one of rage. "And just how the fuck do you know that?"

"This," she tapped the data pad with a finger, "came courtesy from one Miranda Lawson."

Jack cursed under her breath. "Fucking cheerleader..."

"She said you wouldn't be very appreciative. She also expressed her desire to keep you out of Cerberus' hands."

"How much did she pay you? Had to be in the millions to put up with me."

"She didn't pay us anything. But she did make a suggestion in how we could use you."

Jack didn't like her choice of words one bit. "Use me?"

"Yes. We have an offer. You get to stay out of jail, get three square meals a day and a safe place to sleep."

"And just what makes you think I would be stupid enough to take you up on it?"

The blond woman put down the data pad and folded her hands over it. "Let's be frank. We both know that no facility short of deep cryo will keep you in any one place for long. And if you do manage to escape, what then? You will be chased by Cerberus for however long it takes for the Reapers to arrive and probably die alone somewhere, with either Cerberus or the Reapers taking what they want from your corpse. Is that what you want?"

Jack scoffed. "You mean the Alliance knows about the Reapers? Damn, lady. You just shot yourselves in the foot arresting Shepard. Say you're right, and I bounce around from planet to planet until the shit hits the fan. What then? What's the big fucking plan you have stuffed up your ass?"

"Have you ever thought of teaching as a career choice?"

Jack blinked twice before throwing her head back and nearly howling her laughter. "Teaching? Me? If you haven't noticed, things tend to get dead around me."

Undeterred, the blond woman just sat back in her chair. "And yet you managed to stay on a ship with Shepard's crew for nearly a year and there were no reported fatalities from Angry Jack encounters."

Jack smirked. "That's because Shepard gave me bigger things to kill than pervy engineers."

The blond woman smiled, her ice blue eyes holding more warmth than Jack had seen on anyone's face in a long while. "Take me up on my offer, and you'd be training an army of biotics to kill every Reaper and Cerberus agent in sight." She waited for Jack to respond, but the tattooed woman stayed silent, muttering under her breath about not being a babysitter.

"Well, if you change your mind, I will be just outside the door." She left the data pad on the table as she got up to leave.

"You're just going to leave me here?"

"Why should we release you? As you said, things tend to die around you, and we would rather like this station to stay in one piece," the blond woman smiled as she pressed the control to open the door. "I'm going to get something to eat, but if you change your mind, just ask for Kahlee Sanders."
