Happy Masks, and Cheers at Last

Link sighed, trying to calm himself. "I don't know his real name, but he's referred to as the 'Happy Mask Salesman' here, and he is the reason these masks exist in the first place."

"Bout time you said that little tidbit to my face, and I would think you would thank me for giving you that... better you mask." Chance said, a little pissed at Link himself.

"You're the one who CAUSED that fiasco with the skull kid in the first place, idiot!" Link shouted. "If it wasn't for you, the moon wouldn't have come within five feet of crushing the planet, and I would be at least six months younger right now!" it was clear that Link was going to attack Chance if something wasn't done to appease the situation. Chance decided to make it worse however, and said "It isn't like I wanted that asshole to steal the Demon Majora's Mask!"

"And I suppose the Fierce Deity was a better option to unleash on the world?" Link shouted "He still persists on giving me the demonic power to extinguish life so I can rule as a GOD! My nightmares are filled with him! YOU CALL THAT BETTER?!?!?!"

"Yes! your nightmares or the planet's structural integrity. which one SHOULD I care about more?" Chance said calmly.

"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!" Link shouted launching himself over Ester, intent on severing Chance's head.

Ester stared at 'Chance', slowly shaking her head in saddened disbelief. Yes, he may have lost his memory, but he certainly seemed equally furious with Link as Link was with him. All of this talk about the moon crashing into the earth, evil demons, nightmares, and all the LIES! How many lies could Ester handle without snapping as well? She looked about ready to cry again, her heart breaking from the two people arguing about something she had only the information they currently shouted at each other as understanding what they meant.

Suddenly, her eyes grew huge as her own father lunged at Chance. Everything went so quickly it might not have registered to Ester until after the fact. In that mere instant, Ester had jumped in front of Chance.

"STOP IT!"

The scent and taste of blood quickly filled the water around them. Ester grimaced, now clutching her arm tightly to her chest. The armor was likely what kept her arm from being completely cut off, but there was still a massive, deep gash pouring out blood. "Please.... just stop..." she whispered weakly.

As blood began floating in the water around them, Link and Chance both stared in shock. Link immediately went from angry to worried. "I-I'm so sorry! Are you alright?"

Chance snapped his fingers and a cloth appeared in his hands, which he used to bandage Ester's wound. Chance looked thoughtful as he finished wrapping up Ester's arm "Link, I think we should bury the hatchet and start over. If we don't, we may end up hurting Ester in more ways than a gash in her arm."

After doing a bit of thinking himself, Link nodded. "Well, your masks did help save the planet from blowing up... and I really can't stop you from dating my daughter if she was willing to get her arm almost chopped off to save your life." He turned to Ester. "Alright, you have my permission to date him. But the fact still remains that we need the Band to play, and without the lead vocalist, we can't." He pulled her into a hug. "I know I don't say it often enough, but I love you... I'm sorry about getting so angry at your boyfriend. Can you forgive me?"

Ester grit her teeth, "I'll... live" She held out her arm, allowing Chance to bandage it. "Yeah, no kidding!" she huffed in response. It REALLY hurt! Link must have really wanted to kill Chance. She gave a weak smile, "Good. I really didn't want to see any more violence. After all" Ester returned Link's hug, "I now have a sister to go sing for!"

Putting on the mask, she braced herself for excruciating pain in her whole body, not just her arm. Oddly enough, the gash in her arm made the other pain seem so much less significant! Turning into her mother, in a sense and literally, she still had the bandage on her arm. "Alright! Let's go!"

It turned out the gig was in Clock Town, and they all traveled there, including the four Zora children, all the while laughing about all the times they fooled Link into thinking he fooled them. The entire trip, Link stayed silent except to ask them to give it a rest two times.

When they arrived, the entire crowd cheered. After all, the Indigo-go's were famous. As the band got together on stage, Tijo smiled "How bout a riff, Mikau?"

The other members of the band smiled, but to save face in front of the audience no one laughed as Mikau/Link ignored them and began playing his fishbone guitar. The others joined in, and looked at Lulu/Ester as it came to the place she was supposed to sing.

Chance was in the crowd, and had begrudgingly agreed to watch over the Zora children. He was trying to remind himself that this was a clean slate. after all, Link had accepted him as Ester's boyfriend, so the least he could do was keep up with Link's kids, right?

The trip may have been a bit of a hassle to Link, but Ester was enjoying it. After all, she was spending time with her whole family, now that she knew it was more than just her and her dad. Even if they were her age, they still seemed to act like children, Tasha jumping about, asking Ester all sorts of questions about her life on the land, while the boys sniggered to themselves about how they had managed to fool their own father for 17 years.

To be back in Clocktown again, but in a different form was very surreal. There were people asking for autographs from the bandmembers and her, which she openly accepted. But it was all so different. On the stage, Ester shut her eyes. 'Mom, please show me what to sing. I have no idea if I'll be good enough for all these people!' Without warning, her eyes opened as did her mouth, and out came a melodious song that perfectly complimented what the band played. The whole crowd went nuts!
