Choices: An Until Dawn Story

If You Chose Mostly A...

At last Chris lowered Ash gently to the bed and positioned himself on top of her.  The culmination of everything they'd done together... and not just tonight... they would finally be joined, finally together.  He didn't know whether to gulp or gasp, so he focused on looking deeply into her loving green eyes. 

He was just about to enter her warm gate when Ashley gripped his hand.

"Hannah," she said shakily, nearly sobbing.

"What?" Chris asked, confused.

"This is what she wanted," Ashley whimpered.  "What we... what I used to hurt her.  She just wanted to be held by the guy she'd wanted for, like, forever while the snow fell outside.  She wanted to have someone to love... to give herself to..."

She shyly covered her reddish bush with her hand.  "...to be inside her."

Chris nodded solemnly.  "Yeah."

"And after everything that happened, I want that from you more than ever, but..." Ashley said sadly, "Not here, not now."

"I understand," Chris replied with eyes that proved he did.  "I can camp out in another room, maybe watch Josh with Mike..."

He reached for his shirt and again Ash's hand stopped his.  "No!"

Chris froze in confusion once again.

"This is going to sound really, REALLY selfish... especially after what I just said, but can you do one more thing for me?" she asked.

"Of course," he replied.  "What is it?"

Ashley bit her lip, trying to find her courage.  "Can you... can you hold me?  Just for a while?"

Chris leaned back down onto the bed, wrapping his arm around Ashley's slender frame as he lowered them both back down to the bed so they were spooning.  "How long of a while?" he asked in a tone that let her know he would have accepted 'forever' as an answer.

"'Til dawn," Ashley replied, barely a whisper.

Epilogue

When the dawn finally broke and they opened the door they found they were the only survivors.  The positions of Mike and Sam told the story well enough, their best friends had fought to the very end to protect them against some unknown force.

Ashley sobbed into Chris' chest, blaming herself for surviving while everyone else fell, but then Chris found the note.  Frantically scribbled, but still recognizable as Sam's handwriting:

You waited so long, don't lose each other, too.

Ash smiled sadly, knowing how much her friends loved them both.  They had sacrificed everything to bring her and Chris together... they couldn't let that be in vain.
