Potential Danger!
Zero and X both teleported back to Dr. Cain's lab and presented him with yet another data chip.
"Ah here we go, guaranteed on this chip is Launch Octopus' Homing Missile weapons data."
Zero pushed X aside and approached Dr. Cain hastily.
"Will it work on that BASTARD Sting Chameleon?"
X came back up to Zero, who by this time was fuming with rage.
"Zero! Get ahold of yourself! We know he's out there doing God knows what, but sitting here thinking of ways of killing him won't bring him to justice any sooner! Just please listen to reason for once!"
Zero closed his eyes and lowered his head. He looked back up at X with a smile that shone all the way to the other side of the room.
"Sometimes I swear you're the conscience I need, X. But we have to be serious about this. Sting Chameleon's still out there, probably at Sigma's Fortress stirring up some kind of trouble."
Dr. Cain raised a hand in quick protest.
"No no no, not so fast there! I have one last task for the two of you before you go off and 'save the world' as you really want to do."
X and Zero both took one step forward and exclaimed, "Flame Mammoth..."
Both stood still as Dr. Cain lowered his head, unhappy with their reaction.
"Yes I'm afraid so. As you even said, this was inevitable. All our best Hunters have officially gone Maverick. And Flame Mammoth could be the worst threat of all!"
X walked over to the computer terminal and began a search cycle for any Maverick activity.
"Oh God...the Prototype Weapons Plant? And Flame Mammoth is there?"
Zero dropped his Z-Saber, mouth wide with disbelief.
"He...he could kill millions!"
"I'm sorry but the bad news does not end there," piped up Dr. Cain, "and this is why I need you two to head out right away. I scanned the Weapons Plant and noticed a peculiar energy reading, not unlike the ones you've come across, Zero."
X's eyes widened as he knew what this meant.
"You mean another one? Another capsule for me?"
Zero turned to the giant monitor and stared at the Prototype Weapons Plant in disgust.
"Yes, X. But this one is strange. Its energy signature is much more powerful than the others. It could be a very important upgrade for you!"
Zero turned back and raised an arm.
"But how is this BAD news?"
"Because...Flame Mammoth also knows of this. He may try to use the power for himself, and if he tries to activate that platform in the Prototype Weapons Plant..."
X could only whisper the word, "Disaster..." as he readied himself for transport.
"No time to waste then! Let's get outta here, X!"
Dr. Cain waved them goodbye as they teleported to a potentially dangerous Prototype Weapons Plant, riddled with Reploid-hungry Mavericks.
