Chapter 15: Three Wrongs that Do Not Make a Right
“Pyre, please tell me that you and your ghoul were just trying to be morbid the other night,” Jonathan said in a strange voice as he watched Pyre’s emotions. She is easier to read than a book when it comes to her emotional state.
Pyre looks confused at Jonathan, not even knowing how much emotion she was showing. “I really don’t know what you are talking about, Jonathan. I didn’t even know that Daisy wanted to kill me.”
“Well, she did and it was caught on tape. Can you bring her to me as I would wish to talk to her,” Jonathan asked as a cruel smile touched his lips but did nothing to his voice or his eyes.
“Sure, it’s easy enough to do,” Pyre replied with a soft smile.
“Then do it in a half hour and wipe the smile off of your face,” he said in a harsh voice and then turned to Ward as Pyre walked off to collect Daisy. “Where is Mister Balthazar tonight?” He asked of his ghoul.
“I do not know, sir,” Ward answered without a shake in his voice, his eyes, or any bone in his body. “It appears that he had disappeared for the night.”
“Then I want you to follow Pyre around tonight and watch her until I need you to do something for me,” Jonathan orders as Ward nods a yes. He hates the fact that he has to send his favorite and most useful ghoul around all night with Pyre, but it was better safe than sorry. And he will have a talk with Balthazar when he gets back….it is not safe for anyone to wander too far off without Jonathan knowing wherey wey were going exactly. At least its better with someone watching her so she doesn’t try to plot another murder. But his thoughts were interrupted as Pyre walked back, this time with another person with her. The person that Jonathan and Ward both saw on the tape. “Ward, you may go,” Jonathan said as he stood and looked at the two very odd pair. “What is your name?” He asked of Pyre’s ghoul as Pyre moved behind Jonathan.
“My name is Daisy. What is going on here?”
“Daisy then. Is this yours?” He asked as he held up a cute butcher knife.
“It looks like mine if that is what you mean,” she answered in her southern drawl.
“When was the last time that you used it?” He asked in a very stern and cold voice.
“About a week ago,” she said with a shrug. “I really don’t know what you are getting at, sir.”
“What I am getting at Daisy is the fact that you attempted to kill Pyre. I’m not sure for what reason though, nor do I care.” He got up and took something off the table that even Daisy couldn’t see. It was rope and he tied her up, setting her down on a table. He then took a very rusty razor and held it up to her face. “Would you care to explain your actions?”
“Please sir, I am sorry. I didn’t mean to do anything. I just…I just…” Daisy broke down into crying, not sure what the man wanted to hear in order to save her life. She looked to Pyre whom looked very stern for the first time since Daisy met her and held a plate in her hands. On that plate were other surgical instruments as well as places to hold other things. She would find no help there as Jonathan did not answer back but proceeded to cut Daisy’s face. A long and slow cut as sheed oed out in pain, struggling against the ropes. Daisy never liked pain, so this was too much for her as the ropes also cut into her flesh. She broke down into tears immediately, crying for him to stop. But he never did, continuing to slash across her face and was careful not to cut the throat. He never did use any other instruments but stopped after a half hour of just cutting her face.
“I did notice one thing Daisy,” Jonathan said as he circled around to behind the ghoul, “that you did not like what you saw of Pyre under her mask. Don’t you know that beaut onl only skin deep?” He asked and then dug his fangs deep into her neck, taking all of her blood and making her into a vampire. Jonathan saw her change into an ugly creature and then held a mirror up to Daisy after a hour of the change had taken place. “What do you wish for now? Do you wish for death as you were to give to your mistress? Or do you want mercy to be shown to you so that you may live?” Daisy never answered that question as Jonathan drained for a second time. He then called for Ward and asked him to get rid of the body. Pyre just continued to stand there, knowing what was happening. She wasn’t about to stop it, but she wished it didn’t happen either. Jonathan took the plate of tools from her hands and simply said, “We should get to Elysium.” Pyre nodded and they went to Elysium, showing to all there that nothing had changed.
*~*~*~*
Pyre stood outside the random coffee house much later in the night, awaiting Jonathan’s arrival. She had taken off her mask in Elysium again, which probably didn’t do well for Jonathan’s blood pressure. And then there was the entire matter where she pretended to be someone else and introduced herself to the Prince as someone else. And now she awaited judgment on her crime, as the Camarilla called it, for tricking the Prince. The Prince was too uptight if he was going to want a punishment of her instead of just laughing at it. A truck pulled up and two people got out. Maybe this was just other people and she could sneak away from Beloit. Sneak away and never return.
“Pyre?” The keeper of Elysium asked her as she also heard Jonathan’s footsteps.
“What has been decided?” Pyre asked of the Keeper.
“Well, your primogen helped you keep your head and your life as long as you never do what you did again. And you are to be bonded to him in order ake ake sure of that,” the Keeper said in soft tones as she lead Pyre to a darkened alley. “And now I must go back to Elysium. Mister Rorschach will take care of the .” .” And the Keeper left the two of them alone in the darkened alley in order for Pyre to be blood-bonded. But it was her intentions and the Prince’s that Pyre was only to be bound one level.
Pyre just nodded. “Thank you,” she said softly as she let herself be led. She awaited Jonathan’s words but heard the clanging of metal against his cane.
Jonathan had pulled out a sword from his cane and cut his wrist, bringing it to her mouth. “Drink,” he commanded and she did. He closed his wound as Pyre felt his blood going through her. “Now go. I have more no use for you tonight. Just remember that I saved your life Pyre. You will be loyal to me from now on.”
Pyre nodded and went on her way, going back to her haven instead of to Elysium. And another of Jonathan’s ghouls watched her as Ward went with his master.
*~*~*~*
The next night, Pyre woke up and tried to sit up. Something pushed her back down and she felt something against her mouth. As she tried to speak, blood went down her throat. She knew it was Jonathan’s blood and he took his wrist away. It was the same the night after that. And she was now full blood-bonded to Jonathan.
