More than just Kombat...
XXII.
The woman watched the taur-dragon with curious interest. They reached the top where the degrees in heat was significantly different compared down below. Oddly enough. The heat she loved. Mainly because she was created in the pits of Netherrealm. And yet she liked the ice coldness of the depths of the seas. But not anywhere in between which was tolerable. One extreme over the other seemed to be her forte. But oh, how she loved the heat. The vast desert before them reminded her of a place she once called home.
"The world is different than when primordial races first scoured the earth, searching to understand their place and meaning in the world. Who is truly powerful no longer comes down to the large and the strong or the mighty."
Kalypso let out a snort. "Tell me something I don't know." She hasn't been asleep for that long to not know that!
"I knew that even were he to act, Kabal would at least stop to think about his actions if it were I who he first saw holding it. Thus, you were spared having ever been involved. Also... it is such an ugly thing and I have always disliked the smell of it. It was fun to tell him I would shit on it."
Kalypso frowned. "And what is it you want in return?" In her mind, no one ever did anything free. Even kindness was bought and sold like trinkets. No good deed ever goes unpunished. Such is the fate of all the realms.
Then again, he was her boss.
She sigh.
There was the payment. Whatever he ordered, she had to obey. But if she didn't like? Damn well she'd fight him for it. Life was vicious with sharp teeth. It was kill or be killed. It didn't matter how much time has passed. If anything, time has taught her that while things changed, it also remained the same.
Such a fickle of a concept.
Although towards the end of his words, she found herself grinning. "It wasn't a very pleasant smile, huh?" Her tone more light hearted. "I smelt it all throughout the base. I didn't know it belonged to someone uniquely as him. So why does he wear that mask?" She asked finally, wanting to get to know some of the members she'll be working beside. "And will you teach me how all them mcbobbles and gagets work?"
"Now... up once more we go!"
She debated on the offer. Sure, she could climb up it with ease. But it would bare the troublesome of it all, Kalypso shrugged. "Why not." He neither ordered nor vocally said anything. Which made it harder to figure out. But if it was one thing Quan Chi has taught her, she was a team player. So she walked over to straddle herself onto his tail once more.
As the dragon moved up, she'd take the moment to study everything below her. How easy it would be for him to fly. "Can you not fly with your wings?" She asked as the thought settled momentarily. Were his wings dull like her own? Then again, they were more considered to be fins as they provided more speed and swift movements underwater. The female could glide in the air but she could not fly like a bird.
They reached to the top to a sea of sand. The air was fresher and a forest just above the cliffs. Now that they reached the top, Kalyspo hopped off his tail. "Now what?"
