Author’s Notes
Things are proceeding quite quickly. This episode is a little on the short side, so I’ll include some notes that may be of interest:

The Zelda story really should be about Zelda herself, so I'm trying to cover some things that Nintendo just won't touch. What happens in the immediate future after Zelda sends Link back in time after the last battle, assuming that we believe their "split-timeline" story? What does the princess (and, we assume, future Queen of Hyrule) do? How does she deal with the loss of her hero? How does everyone else react? Do the Sages know that they're splitting the timeline?

I had always envisioned the process of sending Link back to be something that the Sages would assist Zelda in doing. I've also had a clear picture in my mind that Saria would not take part in this, since I’d always imagined her as Link's girlfriend before his quest began. To me, this seems a convenient way to explain the split in the timeline: Saria doesn't lend her power to the Sages at the critical moment, and though Link is transported back in time, things to not change in the present. Nothing of Ganondorf's evil is undone, Hyrule has still been ravaged by war and poverty, and Zelda is utterly alone. Very little is ever said, officially, about this period, but I envision Zelda rising up as Queen to restore the Kingdom of Hyrule to its former glory, ruling with gentle words and iron fist. This fic explains how that all comes to pass, and my next fic covers the age of Zelda, with her as the central protagonist. Yes, I'm writing that fic. It's already in progress.

Chapter 15: Portents and Purposes
One year prior to the events of The Ocarina of Time
“You have foreseen it, then.”

“Yes, I have. My death will mark the beginning of these things.”

The Great Deku Tree spoke with a glowing figure of pure light which stood before him in the clearing. Nayru, the goddess of wisdom, had come down from the heavens, and walked the earth. For a day.

“You see correctly, wise one,” Nayru said. Her voice echoed through the clearing as if it were ringing through a great hall. “Of all beings in Hyrule, no great many may call me down from the heavens, but of these you are one.” It seemed to the great tree that the goddess smiled, but her guise was all of light and warmth, and her features were indistinct.

“Then can you help me to stop the Desert Prince?”

Nayru shook her head, and it seemed that her earthly guise swirled around, and her appearance became more distinct. A maiden of blue hair, long ears, clad in a robe of shimmering blue silks, she stepped forward to the great tree. “I cannot stop him for you, for to openly match his evil power with our own is forbidden.”

The great tree’s bark creaked as his expression changed slightly, to one of disbelief. “Forbidden even to a Golden Goddess? Then my cause is already lost, and the sages will never awaken.”

Nayru smiled. She knelt and placed a hand on one of the Deku Tree’s great roots. Her hand traced the lines in the thick bark, and her expression was one of wonder and fascination with the physical world. “Lost? No, I can still help. But only by moving small things, and only with my native power.”

“Then what will you do?”

“I will bestow the gift of great wisdom and intelligence upon those who might oppose the rising darkness,” she said. “This is all that I can do.”

“And that is all?” The Deku Tree stared as the Golden Goddess of Wisdom turned and walked to the middle of the clearing.

“Have faith,” Nayru said, and her physical form shrank suddenly. In a moment, she was just a few feet tall, clad in the green tunic and boots of the Kokiri. “For while you do, there is hope.”

Midnight
Link slept soundly as Nayru stepped silently through his door. She rose up, dropping the guise of a Kokiri and standing the full height of a grown Hylian. His eyes fluttered open, dazed by the bluish light which filled the room. “Who’s there?” he said.

“Hush, little one,” Nayru said. She came forward and sat on the edge of Link’s bed as the boy sat up. “There is nothing to fear.”

Link knew that she spoke the truth, and her presence brought great calmness. “Who are you?”

Nayru shook her head, smiling gently. “I cannot tell you that, young one,” she said. “But someday, I’ll come to you again, and you will know.”

“What do you want?” Link asked, staring in wonder at the gleaming figure.

“To give you a gift,” she said. “Yours is a troubled destiny, and before long you will be thrust into the midst of matters you’re too young to understand, for only six years have seen your feet walk the earth. My gift will make matters easier for you.” Nayru leaned down and pressed her lips against Link’s forehead. The boy’s skin glowed where she’d kissed him, and she stood, turning to leave. “May the way of the Hero lead to the Triforce.” A bright light glowed in Link’s mind and he drifted back into sleep.

The Present (AdultLink)
Link pondered the events of the last few days as he strode quietly through the halls of the Goron city. His boots echoed through the passageways as his feet led him towards the lower levels. He’d offered to do a favor for Biggoron after the giant had finished reforging his new sword, and he was carrying a bottle of mysterious fluid, bound for the alchemist of Lake Hylia. His mind drifted back to his childhood, still present in his mind like a memory of past weeks. He walked, without thinking, into the passage leading to the Lost Woods.

In the Kokiri village, Saria walked through the nighttime mist. Sleep refused to come to her that night, so she busied herself outdoors. Her quest was nearly complete, and she had returned home to rest before setting out to the lake. Many of the evil things that had come into the village had disappeared recently, but some remained, so she hunted them, since she was able. The heirloom Kokiri blade hung at her side.

She saw the large figure climbing down the vines that lead up to the entrance to the lost woods. The blade was in her hand in an instant, and her pulse quickened. Cold determination drove her forward. She crouched behind a boulder, waiting to strike, should the figure come closer, into town. The moon drifted behind a thick cloud.

The figure alighted on the ground, and strode towards Saria’s hiding place, plodding almost leisurely into the village. As it passed by, she lashed out with her blade.

The ringing clash of steel rang out in the night as her blow was parried. The blow knocked her down, onto her back. The figure stood over her, with drawn sword and shield. “Saria?”

Her heart sank. “Link?”

Later

They sat in Saria’s house. A cheerful fire blazed on the hearth, warming a kettle of pungent soup that the girl had prepared earlier in the day.

“I feel like and idiot,” she said, looking over her shoulder at Link as she stirred the pot. Link was honing the enormous Biggoron sword, which shone red in the light from the fire and lamps. “I should have known it was you. I’m sorry!”

Link laughed. “I’m alright,” he said. “Actually, I’m not sure why I’m here… I was in the Goron city, and I just started walking. I took a wrong turn and wound up in the passage to the lost woods. I’m not in a hurry, so I just kept going. I didn’t expect to find you along the way.”

Saria reached for a ladle and two wooden bowls. She stared wistfully at the soup as she filled the vessels. “I’m glad you came,” she said, leaving the hearth. She sat beside Link on the bed, handing the soup to him as he set down his weapon.

Link sipped gingerly at the steaming bowl. Saria simply stared into hers. Her stomach was doing backflips. “Link…”

He turned to face her. As a child, he’d never thought of her as small, but she was a few hand widths shorter than he was, now. He could feel her tension.

“I loved you,” she said, looking up at him. “When you were a child. I loved you.” Her eyes grew misty. “I left the forest and searched for you. Everyone said that the roaming fairy boy had vanished.”

Link set his soup aside. “I’m here now,” he said. “I did what had to be done.”

“I still love you,” she said, staring down into her bowl. Silence rushed into the room.

Link sat still. Blinking. His thoughts flashed from his time with her as a child, to the women he’d been with since then. He thought of his insane adventures with faeries, Malon, Anju, and Impa. He thought of his rough dismissal by Zelda. But Saria was ever there. Never angry, never judging. Always a friend.

“I loved you, too,” Link said. Their closeness had not waned after their use of the mating pendants, despite Link’s quest. He always returned to the forest to see her, until he skipped seven years of his life. But when she had awakened as a great Sage, he’d thought their time was over.

Saria slowly placed a hand on the collar of his tunic, entwining her fingers in the fabric. She drew him towards her. “I need you to love me now,” she said.

Link’s stomach churned with discomfort. He knew she was much older than he was, but her appearance was that of a girl. A child. His mind raced in confusion as she drew him close, and she sent a small hand up under his tunic, stroking him through his tight trousers. She pressed her lips against his mouth.

The fire in his chest leapt forth. Passion was aroused. But he held back, letting her lead. She straddled his leg, rocking her hips, grinding her crotch against him as she loosed his member from his trousers and teased his mouth open with her tongue. He was unable to resist.

She lowered herself to the floor, between his knees, and took the tip of his cock in her small mouth. She stroked the shaft with both hands as he grew harder, firmer. She looked up at him with glistening eyes as she bobbed her head forward and back, taking as much of him into her throat as she could.

He heard her voice in his mind.

“I will do anything for you,” she said. She thrust her head forward, forcing his cock deep into her throat. She was too small to swallow all of his meat, but she tried nonetheless. He gasped in ecstasy, despite the slight churning of his stomach.

“Let me love you,” she said, in his mind. Her eyes pleaded with him. “I’ll never leave you.”

Link’s vision blurred as the girl firmly caressed the head of his cock with the back of her throat. Tears glistened in the girl’s eyes as she fought the urge to gag. The fire in his chest burnt with a white light in his mind, and he gave in. He pulled Saria up, forcing her to straddle him as he sat on the edge of the bed, and she poised herself, ready to plunge his throbbing meat into her body.

Links eyes fluttered closed as the hot, tight, wetness enveloped him. He barely heard her cry out in pain as he tore into her. He felt the girl grind her hips back and forth as she clung tightly to him, with her arms around his neck. He gripped her butt cheeks with his hands, helping her to raise and lower herself on his long cock, plunging it like a spear into her tiny but willing body.

She kissed him on the neck, brushing her teeth against her skin, gasping for breath. “I love you,” she moaned. Her body trembled wildly, and her gasps turned to little screams as his member plunged deep inside of her. As she quickly came, her body shook, seized by pleasure, weakness forcing her to lower herself completely onto his cock.

Link lifted her up, and laid her on her back. Even before her orgasm was over, he was thrusting madly with his great strength, driving himself like a weapon into her body.

“… love… ah! You… “ she gasped, a strained smile on her features as she looked up at his sinewy body, feeling his cock stabbing brutally into her insides. Tears streamed from her eyes.

“Saria,” he gasped, quickening his pace. Again, the girl began to scream with every thrust. She squeezed her own breasts roughly. He held her hands, holding her tightly to the bed. Entirely she was in his power, resigned to whatever he would do.

The boiling fire within him threatened to burn his soul as he came, blasting his hot seed as deeply into her body as he could. Saria cried out in the agony of a second orgasm as his sticky hot mess seeped out of her, around his cock. The fullness between her legs felt as though it would stab upwards through her body and rupture her very heart. Blackness soon obscured her vision, and she knew no more.

Saria awoke, just a few hours later. Link wasn’t there, but she could feel the warm depression in her bed where he had been, just moments before. She sat up suddenly, in time to see him striding determinedly to the door.

“Link!” she said, sleepily. “Don’t leave me…”

He turned, facing her. His stomach did another flip. Confusion was on his face and in his eyes.

“I need to think this over,” he said. “I’ll see you again, I promise.”

And he was gone. Saria knew what must be done, and she gathered her things. Soon, she was on her pony, galloping through the darkest night, an hour before dawn.

Meanwhile, in Kakariko
“A vision?” Anju asked, surprised. Impa stood before her in the cold night, outside her house. Impa nodded.

“As I have told you, Link’s quest is vital,” Impa said. Cold determination was in her eyes. “She must not fail. The Sages will need to help him, and soon. But if Saria falls from grace, matters may be worse.”

“What can I do?” Anju asked. She shuddered in the cold air.

Impa should her head. “You may have a part to play in this before the end, but what that might be, I do not know. But for now, I need the comfort of your home. Much of this is my fault…”

Anju shook her head, smiling. “How can it be your fault?”

“I have influenced things. Many things. You, Link, Malon, even Saria, indirectly,” she said, looking at her feet. “I’ve corrupted many people and many lives.”

Anju suddenly gripped Impa’s shoulders. Some moment of divine realization had touched her mind. “Do not say such things!” she admonished the sheikah. “Even your mistakes may have a purpose in the end. Good will come of it.”

Impa stared at Anju darkly. “We shall see.”
