He stared right at the Night Elf, seeing her still sleeping in his chest; her face serene and a slight expression of sadness in her delicate features. He turned round accommodating his body and turning his head to watch Zeyhan. Small, thin strands of his grayish hair fell at the sides of his face, framing his features as he turned.
The Paladin was curled up against his side, using his own hands as a pillow under his head. His side raised up and down in a tranquil pace as the elf breathed in and out, still dreaming. His fair, long hair fell over his face and at the sides, accumulating beneath his head in a messy way and spreading all over the grass.
The warrior slid a hand under the girl and raised her up, placing her to his side. She frowned and complained, babbling incomprehensible things, but kept on sleeping.
‘’Zeyhan…’’ He said as he leaned over the Elf’s face, reaching up to shake him by the shoulder. ‘’Hey, wake up.’’ He shook him softly, whispering at him again how they had to hurry up or he wouldn’t reach his meeting on time. The elf grunted and yawned whilst stretching his limbs. He then stayed still, looking up at Crikton with half-asleep, green, shiny eyes.
‘’Don’t… I’m tired.’’ He pleaded, but Crikton shook him again when he saw the Elf drawing back to his original position. The younger man couldn’t even close his eyes again; and the other one was just watching him as he moved over the soft, cold ground.
‘’Come on. Wake up already.’’ He told him, pushing the Elf a little bit to his side in order to turn him round. When the Warrior managed to turn the Elf on his back, he bent over him and stole a kiss from his lips. The Paladin jumped at the sudden act, caught off guard and totally unexpecting that, but he then muffled something and reached up to pull Crikton closer.
‘’Stop.’’ Crikton whispered, backing away from his friend. He tilted his head in the girl’s direction and Zeyhan peeped up to see what she was doing. She was still asleep.
‘’She’s sleeping…’’ He demanded, frowning when he saw Crikton back away and stand up. hEhE He stood up, following the other man’s actions, and grabbed him by his shoulder, turning him round in order to face him.
The Warrior noticed the pleading look in the Elf’s face, and he swallowed; his throat dry and sore from the coldness of the night before. He pushed the Paladin harshly against the tree that they had slept leaning on; their armors chiming and clashing against each other; their mouths just centimeters away. He used his left forearm to hold the Elf against the tree, and his other hand to stroke his cheeks in a rather rough way.
‘’We will have time for ourselves when the moment is right; Paladin.’’ He sentenced, staring fiercefully into Zeyhan’s green, confused eyes. He regretted having to say that; for he wanted as much of the other man as the Elf seemed to plead him into, however, he knew they couldn’t. Not there, and not like that. He wanted next time to be different…
He felt a pleasurable warmthness stir within him and pinch at his groin whilst he thought of the things he would do to the Elf, but he had to shake those thoughts away if they were going to get going.
‘’Here, ‘’he said, letting the Elf go and turning round to search in his pack for food and water; and when he found them he pulled them out.
‘’Wake her up, we should eat something and get going.’’ He asked, walking away for some moments.
In the midst time Zeyhan crouched besides the little Elf, her pale purple skin glimmering in the sun’s light, and her soft lips tightly closed together.
‘’Hey, wake up girlie…’’ He said whilst shaking her little, fragile body softly several times. She said nothing and slowly opened her silvery eyes, staring at him in confusion and fear; though she was too asleep as to react.
‘’No, wait.’’ He said, backing away to give her space. ‘’ I will do you nothing,’’ He explained slowly as he rested himself straight on the grass; spreading up his arms and legs and facing her. ‘’See? Harmless’’
The little girl frowned and bit her lip, aware that he was not the man from yesterday, instead, now that she had rested and could clear her thoughts a bit; he seemed more like the man that had ran with her… Yes, he was, she hadn’t seen him properly but his voice was tender and easygoing as the one she had heard from her savior. She smiled vaguely whilst rubbing her eyes with the back of her hands, then sitting on the place and staring at the ridiculous man lying on the grass just a meter away from her. What was he doing, all spread over the ground like that? ‘’You okay, I am Ghyra’’ She said, smiling now and rising herself up, walking towards him. Her voice was pure and melodious, almost too angelic to be coming from such a small child like that. Zeyhan was perplexed when he heard her, and he rose from the grass violently up, watching her approach him.
‘’I’m Zeyhan.’’ He repeated, just as the night before, when he has tried to introduce himself but she, tired and frightened, had backed away.
‘’I hungry,’’ she said, sitting beside him and reaching out to grab his right forearm. He looked at her, seeing in her eyes a pleading look.
‘’Crikton.’’ He shouted a bit, waiting for a reply from his friend, but he got none.
A small silence lured upon them as the trees shook themselves in the early morning.
‘’Crikton’’ He called again.
‘’Yes, coming…’’ a voice said from behind, and not a moment too soon, the Warrior sat beside them, offering a hand full of bread and a flask that contained water.
‘’Here, ‘’Zeyhan said, grabbing the food and offering it to the girl. ‘’You can eat this as your breakfast until we find something better…’’ He promised, his own stomach growling and protesting to get better food than a piece of bread and a sip of water.
The Night Elf took with eagerness the bread and gave it a big, quick bite, chewing as swallowing as fast as she could.
Zeyhan stared back at Crikton.
‘’Well, let her have the rest, she seems hungry.’’ He told the Elf, ‘’we can later find something for ourselves, and besides… Felwood shouldn’t be too far away from here, we can buy supplies for later when we make the final stop’’.
Both men waited for the girl to finish up eating, and when she was done they raised themselves up and walked towards the main road once again.
‘’We should walk, though we are not too far,’’ Crikton spoke again, reassuring them both as he saw the Elf’s looked kind of downtrodden to know they had to walk all the way. ‘’It’s a pity none of us has recovered his mount…’’ He finally sentenced, helping Ghyra climb up the slope and placed her on the road.
They walked for several hours, stopping to rest a bit and to hydrate themselves, but they had to keep on walking.
‘’So, who are you meeting with that’s so important for you to arrive on time?’’ Zeyhan asked, breaking the peaceful silence in the woods.
‘’Well, a friend whom I do business with said I could meet him there; we need to talk about some private issues.’’ The warrior replied, apparently not wanting to reveal the nature of such said issues.
‘’What about?’’ Zeyhan pushed, wanting to know.
‘’I’m tired.’’ Ghyra said, her look sad as she stopped walking. Her chest rose heavily up and down. Crikton thanked she had interrupted their conversation or else he wouldn’t have known how to keep the issue’s matter for himself.
He walked up to her and raised her in his arms, crouching a little bit and placing her to sit over his broad shoulders, her legs hanging and dangling over his chest, were he groped them firmly. She rested her hands above his head and watched the forest from such high heights.
‘’Thank you’’ The little girl said leaning over him.
Crikton walked up to Zeyhan again and retook ‘’Its okay, now you can rest for a while until my back starts hurting ‘’He joked and laughed, hoping she had understood his words.
He then remained silent, wishing for his friend to have forgotten the previous talk subject, but unluckily the Elf re-took it with much enthusiasm and curiosity.
‘’So… what was it that you were saying?’’ He begun, ‘’What are those issues about?’’
Crikton bit his lower lip, not wanting to reveal them.
‘’It would be best If I didn’t tell you…’’ He started.
‘’But why can’t I know?’’ He asked, frowning in discontent for his friend’s distrust towards him.
‘’No, that’s not it at all, Zeyhan. ‘’he said, cutting the Paladin’s thoughts, knowing what was going through his head ‘’It’s just that I am not really comfortable…’’
‘’Fine then,’’ Zeyhan said, his voice soaked in anger. He felt offended by the fact that his friend wouldn’t trust on him. ‘’Don’t tell me.’’
‘’It’s not that, it’s just that…’’ Crikton swallowed again, searching within him the strength he thought he had until that very moment. ‘’This friend of mine, well he really isn’t a friend, just a contact; and I need to pay him for some services.’’
‘’What kind?’’ Zeyhan’s green eyes narrowed, looking at Crikton, scrutinizing the older man’s nervous face.
‘’It was not for me, but a friend of mine asked for his services...’’ He paused for a moment, knowing he had no blame to take and he had nothing but the payment to do with the situation. ‘’He contracted him to kill someone. I am just the one taking the money.’’ He said.
Zeyhan felt silent. That was all? To kill someone?
‘’What… Why would he want to pay somebody else to kill someone?’’ He questioned, not being able to understand the nature of the agreement.
‘’I don’t know either, Blood Elf. But that was none of my business’’
‘’Then why do you need to go and pay him, and your friend can’t just go and pay him himself?’’ Zeyhan wondered.
‘’Because if I did this simple task of delivering the money and another personal message, then I would get paid myself just for doing so. It’s easy money any way you look at it.’’
Zeyhan frowned again, not agreeing with his friend in what he had said, but getting over the sudden anger that had invaded his body just a few moments ago.
They walked until they could see In the horizon the Ashenvale’s connection to Felwood, and soon their paces got accelerated by the thought of reaching Emerald Sanctuary and finally getting that task over and done with.
