Chapter 14
Chapter XIV
_________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
“I know this must be strange for you. You’ve known me you’re whole life, and I don’t even recognize you. It’s strange for me, too.”
They were upstairs. The lamp upon the bedside table cast a soft, sepia glow, the only sound the breathing of the children and Ralis. Link and Ilia stood by the door. She continued, her voice hushed, so as not to wake those asleep. She continued:
“You told me that we hadn’t decided what we meant to each other, before all of this happened…” he felt her fingers touch his, a gentle brush, and he laced his with hers, pulling her that much closer.
“And when my memories return… if they return, well… it may mean nothing to us, and we’ll act as we always have.”
Link felt his back against the door frame. Against his front, he could feel the softness of her body. Her eyes were locked with his, drawing him in. He slipped his arm around her lower back, closing the remaining distance.
“But right now…” she was close enough for her breath to tingle his lips. “Right now, while I’m like this, this means something to me. Right now, I want to mean something to you…” she trailed off, heavy lidded, edging closer.
Their lips touched, a soft, almost accidental brush. They parted momentarily, coming together again almost immediately, more passionate this time. Their tongues met, intertwining about one another. Their laced fingers squeezed, and his other hand was caressing a lock of her blonde hair. Then-
“Link…”
He stirred unpleasantly from his memory, his eyes sharpening back into focus. Suddenly he wasn’t in Telma’s bar anymore, upstairs with Ilia. Now he was standing in the middle of nowhere, the harsh wind whipping loose grating sand in every direction. The sun, although setting, still burned furiously, making his head spin with heat sickness. He turned to Auru, who had called his attention. Link tried not to let his irritation show. This was the second time the old man had parted him from Ilia; he had interrupted their kiss the first time. Days ago, before their long journey to the desert.
“This is the Haunted Wasteland,” Auru said. “I’ve brought you to the edge of the desert, and it is as far as I dare to go. If you value your life, you’ll find shelter before the sun goes down. I‘ll bring your horse back to Hyrule with me.”
Link said nothing, only nodded.
“Good luck, Link,” Auru said. “Hyrule is counting on you.” With that, the old man began trekking back the way they had just came, following tracks that were already being swallowed by the sand.
Link watched him go, until he disappeared into the distance, and then turned back to face ahead. Or at least, what he thought was ahead. There was no way to discern directions in this desert. As he thought about it, he realized that he wasn’t even sure where he was going.
“Midna?”
No answer. He tried again.
“Midna? Are you there?”
Silence. He began to feel awkward, calling out with nobody there. Midna was nowhere to be found. He looked down at his shadow, and saw only his own silhouette; no eyes gleaming back at him.
It worried him. He could guess that Midna wasn’t happy about returning to her cursed form, but Link hadn’t heard a word from her since they had left the forest. What if she was really just gone?
“Midna, please. If you’re there, I need your help.”
More silence. Then, to his relief, an exasperated sigh. His shadow turned from the shape of his own body into Midna’s familiar impish form, her eyes glaring at him.
“What do you want?” she asked. Her tone wasn’t a happy one.
“What’s the matter with you?” Link asked apprehensively.
“Nothing.” An obvious lie.
“You sound angry,” he pressed.
“Well, I’m not,” she deflected. “Now what do you want?”
“Well,” Link forged onward, trying to ignore her strange behavior. “We’re in the desert. Vaati said you’d know what to do here?”
“We need to find the Arbiter’s Grounds,” she said shortly.
“Great,” Link replied, looking around at the vast, swirling nothingness. “Where is that?”
His shadow shrugged disinterestedly. “I dunno.”
“What do you mean you don’t know?!” His tone was panicked now. “Vaati said you knew what we’re doing here!”
“I do know what we’re doing,” his shadow replied coolly. “That doesn’t mean I have a map or anything.”
Well what are we supposed to do then?!” He sputtered helplessly. His shadow shrugged again, responding with the same cool voice. Link felt he could hear a faint trace of satisfaction in it this time.
“I don’t know. You’re the hero; you figure it out.” The eyes disappeared from his shadow, and he was alone again.
“Fine!” He yelled. “I will!” He turned and started trudging aimlessly through the sand. He didn’t need her anyway. He’d find a place to sleep for the night, and start fresh in the morning.
Still fuming, he wandered further into the Haunted Wastelands, the sun falling rapidly below the horizon.
…
He found a cave to stay in overnight. The weather had chased him inside; it was hell out there, without the sun. Things came out of the sand at night, monsters and visions he never could have imagined. He had barely escaped with his life, and was bleeding from several places.
The cave was impenetrably dark; Link ran his hand along the wall as he left the relative light of the night sky behind, his free arm clutched to a particularly nasty gash on his abdomen. Some weird serpent had jumped right out of the sand and clipped him. He supposed he was fortunate not to be severed in half, though.
The path gradually sloped downward, the gradient fluxing randomly, forcing him to mind his step. He was soon so deep into the cave that he could not see an inch in front of him, his breathing labored and tired. If there were any creatures in this cave, he was done for. He tried to fight back any fear he felt, calling on the Triforce to give him courage, or strength, or something. It didn’t seem to hear him.
After wandering for a while, though, his sight returned; seemingly from nowhere, at first. But then he could see the tunnel again, and more importantly, he could see the end of it up ahead. There was a strange greenish glow at the end of the tunnel; self preservation warned him to be cautious, but after the ordeals of the murderous desert night outside, a strange glow seemed a small threat.
He came to the end of the tunnel , observing the surroundings. It was a small cavern, perfectly hollowed. In the center of the room was the source of the glow. There was a small pool in the center of the room, the water glowing a brilliant pale green color. More interesting, though, was the figure in the pool. It was a young woman, standing waist deep in the water, her profile facing them. She appeared completely naked, her breasts covered with tresses of her long, silvery hair. Around her was a strange, translucent haze, moving back and forth.
Link took another step into the cavern. His footstep echoed slightly, and the woman in the water turned with a startled gasp; the haze wrapped around her protectively, covering her in a semi-transparent film, and it was then that Link realized exactly what he was looking at. They were wings. The woman, watching his awed expression, smiled prettily.
“I’ve been waiting for you, Hero,” she said, her voice high and sweet. She stepped forth from the pool, her wings unfolding and spreading behind her like some divine aura. She wore a low slung cloth around her waist, barely covering her, and nothing else.
“You…” Link stuttered. “You know me?”
The woman giggled charmingly, stepping toward him, her bare feet silent on the cavern floor.
“Of course I do,” she said. “It’s my duty to know the Hero, and aid his quest in any way I can.”
She stopped a short distance from Link. She was close enough now that he could see her pointed ears, similar to his own. His eyes once again were drawn to the girl’s wings. He’d never seen anything quite like them. The woman giggled again.
“Have you never seen a fairy before, Hero?”
“You’re a fairy?” Link asked incredulously. The girl smiled again, dipping in a small curtsey.
The Great Fairy of Hyrule,” she said. “I act as caretaker for the Hero in the stead of the Goddesses.” She looked Link up and down, taking note of his bleeding wounds. “And it looks to me as though you could use some caretaking.”
She reached out and took his hand, wrapping her fingers around his. Her grip was reassuring, somehow. She turned and started back toward the pool, taking Link with her. He stepped in, the water soothing him as it engulfed his body.
“Oops,” the fairy said, as if she had forgotten something. “I’m sorry, but I’m afraid I can only bring the Hero. Your shadow friend will have to wait here.”
There was a noise of indignation as Midna appeared over Link’s shoulder, making her first visible appearance since the forest.
“What is that supposed to mean, lady? Am I not good enough for your little party?”
The fairy merely giggled again.
“Don’t worry Midna, I will tend to you, as well. Just wait here.” Midna huffed and floated away. The fairy turned back to Link.
“Kiss me.” Link blinked.
“Excuse me?”
The fairy ignored him, leaning towards him instead, pressing her lips to his. Link exhaled in shock, his head spinning from the fairy’s touch. It made him feel dizzy.
The fairy took them under the water’s surface, and they were sinking, deeper and deeper. Link closed his eyes, until he felt the water gone from around him.
He opened his eyes and looked around. They were in the cave again, the same one. At least, it looked like the same room; Midna was nowhere to be seen.
“Where’s Midna?” Link asked. The fairy gave him a perplexed look.
“Back in the cave,” she said, as though it were obvious. “We just left there. Speaking of such…”
The fairy wrapped her wings about herself again, the veil covering her completely. The wings glowed with a flash of light, and when the unveiled her, she was standing side by side with another fairy, a double of herself. The two fairies smiled identically at Link’s flabbergasted face.
“We best not leave your friend all by herself,” one of the fairies said. She walked to the pool and stepped in, going under the water and disappearing from sight. Link watched her go, and turned back to the remaining fairy.
“What was that?!”
The fairy giggled. “That was me. I am a fairy, after all. Isn’t a bit of magic expected? Now come here, let me heal those wounds.”
Link approached her obediently. The fairy touched her fingertips to his wounds, one by one. Each time she did, Link felt a tingling sensation, what must’ve been his wounds healing supernaturally fast. There was another feeling that came with it, a strange, balmy coolness; it made him feel light-headed. The fairy spoke to him as she treated his wounds.
“I‘ve seen your future, Link. A few of them, actually.”
“You can see the future?” Link asked, to which the fairy simply nodded, not looking up from the wound she was treating. “Well… what happens…?”
“It depends,” the fairy answered calmly. “There are different outcomes, depending on your actions. You’ll need more than just courage to defeat the Twilit King. He wields an old, old evil.” She looked up at him with a smile.
“Don’t worry, though,” she said. “I have faith in you.” The sentiment didn’t do much for Link’s enthusiasm. He honestly didn’t know if he had it in him to see this adventure through…
The fairy finished treating his last wound. The cool feeling had permeated deeply now, and Link was feeling woozy. What kind of side effect was this? The fairy put a hand upon his cheek, stepping closer and smiling at him. He could feel the icy feeling where her hand met his face.
“You’re wounds are treated, Hero. They should be all better by morning. You can rest here in the cave until then. Is there anything else you need? It’s my duty to help in any way possible…”
She trailed off at the last part, and through his strange intoxication he noticed that the fairy was awfully close, her pale green eyes looking into his suggestively. As he stared, she leaned up and kissed his lips. He felt the coolness spread across his face and into his head, making his knees weak.
“I know the burden you carry with this quest, Hero,” the fairy whispered, her lips still touching his. “It’s more than anyone should have to bear. Perhaps you’d like me to help you relax…?”
Link said nothing, he didn’t know what to say, or if he could even say it, in his current state. After a moment, he nodded his head.
…
Midna turned back to the pool when she heard a splash. The fairy appeared in the pool, the water up to her waist.
“Where’s Link?” Midna asked warily.
“He’s on the other side,” she said. “His wounds are being treated. He’ll be as good as new by morning.”
“And until then?” Midna quipped, an eyebrow raised.
“I must tend to him until then, if he’s to be healed. So it’s just us, in the meantime.” She smiled. “Relax, princess. Have a dip in the pool.”
Midna’s eyes widened at the mention of her title. How had she known? Perhaps the fairy could read her mind? She didn’t like the idea; it made her feel naked. With a sigh, she teleported to the pool, disappearing in a grid of squares and appearing just above the water. The fairy laughed girlishly.
“That’s a neat trick,” she said, wading a bit closer to Midna. “I believe I can match it, though.”
“Oh, yea-” Midna began to retort before her mouth was silenced by the fairy. She felt everything, even the girl’s tongue. Gross. There was a pleasant undertone, though. A strange, tingling coolness, like a mint leaf. Midna felt it spread throughout her body as the fairy kissed her. Finally the woman released her, smiling as though she had just done the most normal thing in the world.
“Wha… what the hell?” Midna tried to sound angry, but she actually felt rather relaxed. “What did you just do?”
The fairy giggled again. “Well, look at yourself and see.” Midna looked down, and was gasped at her own hands. Her hands, not that disgusting imp body’s hands. She had her body back, for the second time since being cursed; although, she noticed, looking down at her own breasts, she was without clothing this time. She found it hard to care, with the blissful cold still tingling her head.
“I thought it might make you a little more comfortable,” the fairy said. “Although it didn’t seem like you much enjoyed kissing a girl… It’s okay, though. I can remedy that.”
Midna watched confusedly as the fairy wrapped her wings around herself. There was a glow beneath the cocoon of her wings, and they unwrapped. The pretty fairy woman was no more. In her place was a male, his hair short, yet the same silvery color as the girl’s had been. The water came up to his waist, revealing an immaculately toned upper body. He smirked as Midna examined him.
“So I take it you like this a bit more?” The fairy boy said. His voice was deeper, more masculine, but still reminiscent of the female fairy’s. Midna said nothing, her eyes wide with shock and confusion. Through it all was that numb, icy feeling, keeping her lax and rooted to the spot.
The fairy laughed, leaning in to kiss Midna again. She didn’t resist, embracing the cool tingling it brought her. She’d worry about the weirdness of this situation later, she decided. Never mind that the man kissing her was a woman a second ago; never mind that she had only just met this person moments ago. Right now, it felt good. She wondered vaguely if the same thing might be happening to Link. She pushed the thought away. She shouldn’t even bother caring. Link was kissing everybody lately. He was an ass.
Midna wrapped her arms around the fairy’s neck, pushing into their kiss, meeting his tongue with hers. Beneath the water, she felt his ample hardness pressing against her, and she bit into his shoulder as he entered. He pulled out halfway, only to push in further, slowly.
Midna planted kisses all over him, on his shoulders, his chest, his neck, while he worked them into a steady rhythm. She felt the coolness intensified a hundred times, coupled with the rising heat of sensation between her thighs. She grabbed the fairy boy’s hair, tangling her fingers in his silvery locks.
They slowly gained more momentum and speed, the water rocking around them in the pool. Midna heard her own moans echoing back at her from the cavern ceiling. She pressed her mouth back to the fairy’s, kissing him passionately as he slowly rocked her to orgasm. Midna’s breathy sighs slowly became voiced groans as she neared her climax, shuddering in ecstasy when it finally came. Her body tensed, the balmy coolness and heated passion mingling perfectly.
The fairy released a moment after, pulling away when he was finished. Midna felt herself became heavy eyed. Now that it was done, she felt nothing but tired, the icy feeling gone. She resigned herself and let sleep take her, deciding she’d worry about anything else when she awoke.
…
“Ooohh… more, please… more…” she encouraged him, prompting Link to thrust faster. He grabbed on to her hips, pumping in and out as the fairy moaned and cried out, tossing her hair back into his face, her hands against the cavern wall, her wings brushing up against him.
“Please more… please…” she groaned. Link obliged, as much as he could. The icy numbness had helped his endurance, but he still felt he couldn’t hold out much longer. He felt the fairy grab his wrist and pull him so he was hunched over her, his hand on her jiggling breasts.
“Pick me up,” she breathed. Link pulled out immediately, obeying her. He scooped her up, pressing her hard against the wall. She smiled at his roughness, reaching down to guide him back in. Link resumed his pace, nearing his end. The fairy had already cried out in orgasm several times, but even so, her cries rose in pitch as he thrust. She reached over his shoulders as she came again, her nails digging into his skin. He felt himself on the peak as she shuddered around him. She kept her arms around him, holding him in her as he released. He let out a small grunt, his knees finally buckling as his seed was spent.
He stumbled to the ground on his back, the fairy still on him. The fairy rolled him onto his side, so they lay side by side. She smiled and kissed his forehead.
“You’ve done wonderfully, Hero,” she said. “Sleep now. Your quest continues tomorrow.”
Link nodded weakly. The numb feeling was dissipating, leaving only fatigue. He could barely keep his head up. He closed his eyes, sleep taking him immediately.

Well, there didn't turn out to be as much action as I'd hoped, so that will have to wait until next chapter. As for the lemon, it may seem like a weird PWP that I threw in, but I assure you it's relevant to the plot. Keep reading and you'll see. Let me know what you think, and enjoy.
