Reunion

The village was as he had remembered when he left it all those years ago. With a smile on his face and retraced the embedded memories of the steps to his home. His eyes shone brightly as he looked around himself. Some people starred and whispered, trying to place a name to that recognizable face. He had heard one of the villagers say ‘It’s the younger Strife boy!’. He waved to a few faces he faintly remembered from his childhood but never once stopped or slowed down on his way.

“—Come on, you’re just being scared now!” Sora heard a female’s voice argue as he silently walked around back to the workshop where his brother made the weapons. He looked around the corner and grinned, there was his older cousin Rikku with her ands on her hips, a stubborn look over her face as she tried overshadowing the sitting spiky haired blonde, his brother, Cloud Strife. Cloud wasn’t even looking at her as he continued to clean the new sword he had just finished making.

“I’m not being scared, I just don’t think it is a smart idea to run through a herd of mother and child chocobo’s with random objects.” Cloud stated

“Humph, well I need to find some entertainment and Namine said she was busy practicing.”

“Then maybe I can keep you company?” Sora asked, announcing his presence to the now two stunned people.

“SORA!” Rikku shouted out, being the first to overcome her surprise. She bounced towards the frightened brunette and hugged him tightly, nearly suffocating him. Sora hugged her back when she relaxed her hug. Cloud looked at the spot where his younger brother now stood, slowly the surprise wore off and a smile replaced the stunned features. He placed the sword down on a near-by table and walked over to his brother.

“Sora,” Cloud whispered and hugged his little sibling when Rikku released him. Sora hugged back, a grin on his face and tears in his eyes. Joy and complete happiness filled him as he felt those familiar arms hugging him again. He didn’t realize how much he had missed his brother, the only family he really remembered. They hugged for a few minutes before releasing each other. “I thought you were in Validus Palace…”

“Huh? How’d you know that?” Sora asked, confusion on his face

“Your teacher came to me the evening before to tell me, just so I know where you were. Now you’re here, did something happen?” Cloud asked, worry filling his eyes as he looked down at the younger boy.

“Yes, actually. I needed your direction, your advice in a matter.”

“Well, I’ll leave you two be then. After you’re done you come over to our house you two! Or else!” Rikku ordered with a grin as she ran off.

“Heh, I missed this all so much,” Sora whispered as he watched his hyper cousin turn a corner.

“We’ve missed you. Come on, I’m finished for today. We can go inside to talk.” Cloud placed his arm around his brother’s shoulders with a smile and led them both towards their home.

It was a nice home. It was two stories that were made out of a white stone. Inside was wood paneling with designs on some of the panels of symbols close to the Magus’ It was fairly large, with a living room, small den turned library by Cloud, a kitchen and dining room on the bottom floor. A basement door in the hallway was where all storage was kept. The upstairs held two bathrooms and three bedrooms with a linen closet.

Both boys’ went into the kitchen. Cloud plopped down into a chair followed by his brother. Both boys’ starred at each other before the elder broke the silence.

“So what is the important matter?”

“Magister Merlin said that I could become a Great Magus and Magister Yen Sid and Empress Lillian will be helping to train me.” Sora placed it out bluntly for his older brother.

Cloud’s eyes widened slightly as he heard the news but quickly regained sense. A smile formed on his lips as he starred at Sora.

“It is never boring with you dear brother,” Cloud said as he leaned back into his chair, crossing his arms. “Now, tell me what you have to do to become a Great Magus. Better yet, start from the beginning, when they first introduced this idea to you and everything they said about it.”
