Firstly, I'd just like to mention that I intended for this fic to fit in with the official Capcom storyline as much as possible (stickler for detail^^) and chronicle Leon, Ada and Sherry's possible adventures immediately after RE2, leading up to the events of RE4. However, I didn't acknowledge the RE Gaiden story, for two reasons: I'm not entirely sure Leon's 'infection' figures in the 'official' plot line, or if it will be mentioned in RE4, and also that I didn't particularly like Gaiden's plot. If there's anything I missed out otherwise, forgive me, I'm a sieve-brained idiot at the best of times.
'Trent' is not my character; he's S.D. Perry's creation from 'City of the Dead', supposedly Ada's handler. Thought I'd throw him in as a tribute to the book.
Most of my inspiration for this story came from "Wesker's Report" which states that Wesker survived RE1, Ada survived RE2, and that Leon and Sherry end up in government custody; RE Gaiden also hinted that Leon was infected with a virus, which I passed on here (though I suppose you could speculate that his contact with Ada might have been responsible O_o). Using these as a backbone for the plot, the fic turned out a little easier in the writing; I wrote in the rest of the story elements during pure caffeine-induced insomnia, which hopefully brings the story up to date in anticipation for RE4.
This is the first ed. of this story (which I originally wrote for fanfiction.net) though I wanted to spice it up a little with a sex scene or two (since I couldn't put it on FF.net, the 'Author's Cut' version now lives happily ever after here at AdultFanfiction.net) which Imago kindly re-wrote for the first chapter. Leon and Ada's relationship is definitely complicated, deserving of a bit of sexing up, don't you think? ^_~
Lastly, I couldn't resist putting the ranking pictures into this story (the shots of Leon at the barricade and Claire and Sherry on the bike when you get your rankings at the end of RE2). Since they carried on the story a little after the game I wanted to include them in mine.
