Chapter 11: Random Coffee

“I’m sorry to disturb you,” the ghoul says with no hints of fear in her voice. “I just wished to know where Lady Pyre was. The Prince wished to inform her that the primogen meeting scheduled for tomorrow has been canceled. I am sorry to disturb,” the ghoul said again with a small bow.

Balthazar almost said something but Pyre beat him to it. “Thank you for informing me. I’ll probably be down here for the rest of the evening if anything else is needed.”

The ghoul smiled and bowed a bit deeper. “Thank you, La–“

”Pyre,” she said with a grin. “There is no need for titles.”

“Of course, Lady Pyre. Thank you,” the ghoul said with a grin and left the two Nosferatu alone.

Pyre chuckles while Balthazar just looks at her. “I guess I should get onto other things then. I’ll see you around,” she says with a grin and then puts her mask back up, leaving Balthazar to his own thoughts.

“Arianna....are you sure you want me in on this?” Pyre asks as her friend helped her to the Random Coffee Shop.

“Yes, because I trust you,” Arianna says with a sly grin. “And also because you can help the most.”

“Well, I will try to help in anyway I can,” she answers as they enter the Random Coffee Shop. “There she is...Anna is joining us.”

“Oh...perhaps you can just tell me later what you want my help with,” Pyre says as she moves to leave the shop but Arianna stops her.

“Pyre, please,” Arianna says, her voice pleading with Pyre to stay. “It will be short, but you must be here.” Pyre sighs but nods her head a yes in agreement. “Good,” Arianna says and walks Pyre over to where Anna is waiting. “Good evening Anna.”

“Good evening Arianna...and Pyre,” she says as Pyre sits down, twirling her cane in her hands. “Well, we should get down to business. Arianna, you should explain what we wish to do. It was your idea in the first place.”

Arianna chuckles and leans in, keeping her voice soft and quiet. “As the both of you know, Justinian has won the challenge of becoming leader of us blue bloods. But I do not believe he is the best to be the judgement holder. As such...I wish to relieve him of his powers.”

Pyre listens to Arianna’s short speech and shrugs. “I do not see why you need me in order to do this.”

“But we do,” Arianna says. “We need you to dig up as much dirt as you can on him. See what you can find. But I do not wish to just stop at mudslinging nor do I think it is the last step.”

“So what do you want to do?” Pyre asks softly, feeling that she knows what is coming next.

“We want to kill him,” Anna states as she looks at Pyre.

“Kill him? But...isn’t that a bit severe?” Pyre asks but as the idea turns in her mind, she is agreeing more to it. Justinian was just an air bag after all...perhaps deflating it would be a good idea. “I’m in,” she says before either of the two blue bloods could answer Pyre’s question.

“I’m glad,” Arianna says with surprise in her voice.

“Why?” Anna asks of Pyre. “Why are you willing to help us so quickly?”

“Well, there are two reasons. First one is that Arianna is a friend of mine and the second is that I don’t really like Justinian myself. But I don’t like Julius either...is there a way that you could put her on the seat?”

“Yes,” Anna says with a grin. “Julius is leaving and with Justinian out of the way, it would be simpler to do so. And Julius is leaving soon...so Arianna would be the next logical choice.”

Pyre nods in agreement. “Then I will help you. A week is all I need...so I will speak to you then.” Pyre stands and leaves, graceful in the careful steps she took out of the coffee shop, aided only by her stick.
