Mistakes In Mind and Body

They wanted Link?! Why hadn't Kafei given this job to her dad then, she wondered, feeling terribly awkward with everyone watching her, especially the harsh look from the Queen. Hearing the usually snarky Chance sound nervous about the ordeal didn't raise her spirits either. "Uh.... I... I'm not sure, your Majesty." she sputtered quickly, trying to come up with something, anything to get the attention off her, and to keep her dad from sounding like a complete asshole for not taking up this task.

Her eyes kept darting around nervously, trying to figure out how to soften the blow to come, when something finally popped into her head. Surely it would be a good enough excuse! "Kafei, he must have forgotten who he should have sent it with. Plus, sir Link is quite old, he wouldn't last very long out in the woods with all the monsters that live there! Kafei likely thought that a spry Deku would be able to make the trip much easier..." She swallowed, awaiting the royal's reaction.

"Well I suppose that he is getting rather slow in his old age..." The Deku Princess thought aloud. "Alright, I suppose for your trouble I could give you this." She said, handing Ester a bottle of liquid that seemed to sparkle. "Drink it, and you'll gain magical properties." The Deku Queen said. Of course at this, Chance obviously had to pop out and ask "What kind of magic?"

The entire room was deathly quiet. Then the Queen screamed "TWILI!!!" And several Deku with wooden swords ran at them. "Time to go!" Chance said, taking Ester's hand and snapping his fingers. as soon as he did so, they both dissolved into little black particles and zoomed through and out of the swamp, landing in South Termina Field. "That was a close one!" Chance said as they reformed. "I think there's a reason my kind was ban- nevermind... I don't have all the facts straight, so it doesn't matter." it was once again night, so he helped Ester up. "You ok? I didn't scare you too much did I?" he asked Ester as she got ahold of herself after being dematerialized on the spot using his dark powers. He wasn't sure if she was hurt since he hadn't really ever cared to know if other people felt anything when he did that, although to him, he felt fine.

As much as Ester didn't want to insult her dad, even if he wasn't around, at least the queen took the lie without a fight. She took the bottle in her fairly bulbous hands, swirling the sparkling liquid around. It was very pretty, but she had to wonder what was in it.

Before she could ask, however, Chance's voice made her hair stand on end. 'Oh no...' she thought, seeing the shocked faces all around her. The warm feeling of the Twili's hand snapped her out of it, and she let out a gasp as her body turned into black particles and sped out the doors.

Ester looked dizzy after she finally reformed, sitting down on the forest floor. "Wow..." she muttered in a daze, blinking a few times before reaching up and taking off the mask. "Yeah... I'm good. So... you're called a Twili, then? Huh" Picking herself off the ground, she scratched her chin, "I wonder if the Gorons hate your kind too... and the Zoras? Well, for now, we better keep you on the downlow." With a nod, she reached into her bag and pulled out the Terminian mask, "I think if you just cover those tattoos and stuff, it might be good."

Chance nodded. "If that's how Dekus react, Gorons would kill me." He took the mask from Ester and put it on. after a few minutes of screaming, he was back to his tall self. "Oww... I still don't see how you deal with that!" he said, his voice sounding mature once again. Looking towards Clock Town, he said, "We should go tell your dad how things went."

As they began walking through the field, chance was on edge, because of two totally different things. One: he didn't have a weapon to defend himself from those gross plants that could take a bite out of him. Two: Normally he would have only saved himself and let Ester be captured by the Deku Guards, so why did he help both of them get away? looking over at her, he opened his mouth to say something. then he noticed another Deku Baba lunging for her and pulled her out of it's reach. "Sorry, but it was going to..." he trailed off. Why did he just save her... again? this was getting confusing. They had just arrived at the gates, which gave him no time to mull over the matter further, and it was getting close to lunchtime. Without thinking Chance mumbled "when was the last time either of us ate anything?"

Ester gave a shrug, "I dunno. Some of the village kids were pretty rough on me when I was younger, since I'm Link's daughter and all. I guess I'm just better at withstanding pain" As they walked back, Ester couldn't help noticing Chance was a bit off. She couldn't think of a reason why he would be like that, but it wasn't her problem. Suddenly she felt herself being pulled to the side. She released a yelp, clinging to Chance to stay on her feet. Slowly she looked up at him, cheeks furiously red. "Em... thanks..." she muttered, getting back up and scratching the back of her head with embarrassment.

Back in the village, Ester rubbed her belly. "It's been... at least a day!" Her stomach gurgled in response, and she smirked, "Let's go to my house. My dad will probably make us something." With that, she arrived at the house and simply walked in, "Hey! Dad! We're back!"
