“I’m sorry if I worried you all, but I’m fine now, Wynne’s healing seems to have done the trick”

Morning had come and Kirk was awake much to everyone’s excitement, at least those of whom he traveled with that were able to express excitement; at least you could count on Morrigan, Sten and Shale to keep their heads on tight despite the situation. Kirk turned to Alistair who only seemed to be half looking at him but looked away completely when their eyes met. Riordan stood in the far corner; arms crossed watching the group crowd around the blonde elf.

“Well I know that I’m still worried, because I still don’t know what happened back at the Arl’s estate” said Wynne suddenly, sparking the attention of the room, Kirk casting his eyes downward.

“He was injured when caught off-guard by overwhelming odds, was he not?” asked Leliana, obviously thrown off about the news, she cared for him more deeply than he liked, he could hear it in her voice.

“He did, but something happened while we were fighting; he changed… into… I don’t know what” answered Alistair softly, biting his lower lip ever so slightly. The words and the notions behind them were not ones he wanted to consider. Wynne nodded along with Alistair’s small explanation but went further, showing the lengths of her endeavors on the issue.

“I spent a good bit of last night reading what I could find in Arl Eamon’s library on Dragon Cults, like the one we encountered in Haven and cross referencing it with what we experienced when fighting that group. You displayed strength and abilities similar to that of a Reaver; a cultist warrior who has consumed the ritually prepared blood of a dragon.”

“I’m not a- I didn’t drink any dragon’s blood!”

“Maybe someone offered it to ya without ya realisin’? I don’t know where half ma drinks come from” offered Oghren, earning a scoff from Alistair but Riordan cleared his throat noisily drawing the group’s attention

“You have something to say Riordan?” inquired Wynne

“I do, but it is not something that can be said outside the confidence of the Grey Wardens”

“Is this really the time to worry about secrecy and tradition?”

“We must be ever vigilant Alistair”

With a small, curt nod towards Wynne, Riordan asked that she usher the others from the room so that the three Wardens might talk plainly, when they were gone and the door shut, Riordan addressed the two younger Wardens.

“The Archdemon; a drop of its blood is used in the mix of darkspawn blood and lyrium that we consume in The Joining. Think, what form does the Archdemon take?”

“A dragon” was the solemn whisper of Kirk.

“That doesn’t explain why its only happening to him, and not us” interjected Alistair with some hostility, obviously concerned for his friend’s sake, Kirk managing a small smile in his direction which Alistair hurriedly looked away from in embarrassment much to the confusion of Kirk.

“It’s better than knowing nothing, it’s better than wondering if you’re possessed, an abomination”
