True Love

Ganondorf awoke the next morning, slightly surprised that he was still holding Zelda. He had been fearful that all of last night’s actions had been a dream. But no. Here she was, curled up against him, looking like a goddess. He brushed some stray hairs from her face and smiled as she mumbled his name. She then opened her eyes, their stunning blue shining into Ganondorf’s soul.
“Sleep well?” He asked.
“Very well. You?”
“Never have I slept so peacefully.” He sighed, kissing her forehead.
Zelda carefully slid out of bed, wincing as pain shot through her. “I am going to bathe, hot water might help the pain.”
“…Do you hurt much?” He murmured, feeling guilty.
She paused. “It was worth it.” She said, giving him a stunning smile.
Zelda disappeared into the bathing room as Ganondorf sat up, stretching. He grimaced as he saw the bloodstained sheets. He quickly drew out his magic and cleaned them.
‘Gods, what a monster I am. Causing her pain just for pleasure.’ He thought. Grabbing a towel, he silently walked into the bathing room.
The room was quite large and misty. The area to the right just for washing. To the left, there was a large pool, not too long or wide, but deep and magically kept heated. It was in here, that Zelda lay, eyes closed, breathing deeply. Wordlessly, Ganondorf slid into the other end of the pool, eyes not leaving her face. After a minute, her eyes opened and she smiled at Ganondorf, not surprised at all. “You are quiet.”
He evaded her azure gaze. “Gods forgive me, I am very sorry Zelda.”
She sat upright. “For what?”
He was silent, watching steam rise up from the water’s surface.
She walked through the deep water and grabbed his shoulders. “Do you regret making love to me?”
Ganondorf’s eyes snapped back up to hers. “No. And, you will never, ever, hear me say that.” He said.
Zelda’s face softened. “Then what is it?”
His gaze slipped down to the water again. “I…hurt you…and just for pleasure!”
She laughed lightly, and it echoed in the sizeable room. “Do you think you are the only one that got pleasure out of last night?”
He paused. “I had not thought of that.” He admitted, rather embarrassed.
“Well you should start thinking more.” She said, poking a finger into his chest, trying to look serious, but failing miserably, purposefully.
Smiling broadly, Ganondorf pulled Zelda to him. Bending forward, he kissed her sweet lips, again thanking the gods that he was blessed with her love.
“Next time it will be better.” She murmured, leaning against his firm chest.
“Next time?” He asked, surprised.
Zelda raised an eyebrow, the corner of her mouth turning upward. “Why, was this just a one night tryst, Ganon?”
His heart swelled to hear his real name come from her lips, which by Gerudo law, only lovers used. Laying her back slightly, his lips quickly claimed hers again. He was much more demanding and rough than his usual gentle kisses, and Zelda moaned with delight at his new fervor. Slowly, he drew away, both of them breathless.
He grinned. “No.”
Zelda, still dazed from the passionate kiss, did not register what he had said for awhile. “Oh…good.”
Picking up a soft cloth and a bar of soap, he tenderly started to wash her, softly massaging her muscles. After he was done, she did the same for him, gently scrubbing him with a Gerudo spice soap.
She traced the hard muscles of his back. ‘How I wish we could just stay like this forever…’ She sighed as she leaned against him, wrapping her arms around him.
He turned grasped her hands. “I know, Zelda. I know you wish we could just stay here.” He turned and stood, helping her up. “But, you must never forget your duty to your people…or to Link.”
She nodded, determination etched across her features. “I shall do my duty, as I know Link would do his. My strength shall not fail!” Her eyes softened. “As long as you are by my side…”
He kissed her hands. “I would very much like to see, what can keep me from always being by your side, Zelda.”
“What about you?” She asked, looking up into his eyes of fire.
He gently brushed back some of the wet hair in front of her face. “What do you mean?”
“How do you feel about confronting Evil once again? Will you be all right?” She said very seriously.
He smiled gently, seeing the worry she kept hidden. He bent down and nuzzled her neck. “Do you know what I thought about when I healed you?”
Zelda tilted her head away, allowing him better access. “…No.” She whispered.
“…Do you know, what kept me alive and sane those two years in the Sacred Realm?” He murmured, moving lower.
“N…no.” She managed to gasped out.
He raised his fiery gaze to meet her heated one. “You, and only you.”
She smiled, her eyes shining, and lay her head on his smooth chest.
He held her close. “The thought of you made me strong. With your love, I am invincible.”

Half an hour later, after dressing and eating, they stood before the Temple of Time. Eclipse was with them, standing respectfully back as Zelda once again unlocked the magic seal. She then turned to him.
“No one is to enter besides the fairies, no one. Until Ganondorf and I emerge, not even you must leave from guarding this door. Understand, Eclipse?”
“Yes, my Queen. None shall pass.”
She paused. “You called me ‘Queen’, not Zelda.”
Eclipse shrugged slightly. “At this time, with darkness and evil threatening to spill on this land once again, I though such a small thing would not matter.”
Zelda grasped his shoulder firmly. “In this time of darkness, small things are what keeps us pushing forward.”
He slowly nodded. “I see…I shall not forget that.”
Eclipse stood with his back to the door as it closed, eyes daring anyone to try to pass.

Ganondorf looked around the large room with quiet awe. Although not nearly as large as the castle throne room, the throne room would never match up to the tranquil power in this sacred temple. He moved silently, almost fearing it sacrilege to disturb the unnatural silence.
Suddenly, a sweet sound gently pushed away the silence. He turned to find Zelda playing an ocarina. It looked like it was made out of some rare blue stone…
Ganondorf gasped as a forgotten memory flowed into his mind. He sank to both knees, his tightly closed eyes doing nothing to stop the torrent of images. A tear escaped from its prison and slid down his cheek as the hazy memories became sharply painful.

He watched, like a predator stalking its prey, his eyes never leaving the small form of Zelda as she arranged a bouquet of flowers while sitting in her private garden. Now was his chance, while her so called ‘attendant’ was busy talking with the king. He strode out of hiding, smirking slightly when she looked up with fear, then he frowned as a look of pure defiance crossed her face. “What do you want, Ganondorf?” She said coldly.
He grinned mirthlessly. What did it matter if she defied him? She was a simple child, nothing compared to him.
Zelda drew slowly away from him, not liking the gleam in his crazed eyes. They had the look of a cat looking at a helpless mouse.
Seeing Zelda slipping away, Ganondorf snapped out a hand, grabbing her wrist with a bruising grip. She cried out, but he slapped her, silencing her. Pulling her towards him, despite her resistance, he forced her to look into his eyes. “Where is it?”
Trying to ignore the enormous pressure almost crushing her wrist, she glared at him. “What?”
He shook her angrily. “The Ocarina of Time! I know you have it. Give it to me!”
“L…Let me go! I don’t know what you’re talking about!”
He laughed at the child’s silly defiance of him. Her lie was obvious. He slapped her again, causing her to whimper. “Take your time, Princess. I know that you’ll soon remember where you put it, won’t you?” He sneered.
Suddenly, he could no longer see Zelda’s tearful eyes. Two red eyes, full of rage burned in their place.
Before he could even register it, he had been slammed into the wall, his chest throbbing from the well placed kick he had received. Although the kick was the only attack he had seen, he knew he had also been hit several times before the kick, doubling the damage. This person had unbelievable powers speed indeed. Stunned, he watched a dark figure gently pick up the trembling princess.
“IMPA!” He hoarsely roared, trying to run towards them, but only managing to stagger to his knees.
The figure turned, and eyes burning with a fierce dark fire bored into his own. Although a mask had been tied over the lower half of her face, there was no doubt it was Impa. “You have gone too far, Lord Ganondorf. The final key to the Sacred Realm shall never be yours.” Then, with a speed that defied her long years, Impa hoisted Zelda onto her back, and sped off.
Ganondorf groaned as the numbing feeling from Impa’s attack slowly faded. He then straightened and ran after them.
Just as he reached the stables, he had to whirl to one side as Zelda’s white horse tore through the doors, Impa holding her precious burden close.
Ignoring the astonished looks from the guards, he leaped onto his own black stallion, galloping after them. He stopped sharply on the drawbridge looking around. He snarled with fury, realizing that he had lost her.
He was mildly surprised to see a young boy all dress in green with a fairy by his side, standing right in front of him.
He was far more surprised to see the boy staring at him, blue eyes devoid of all fear…
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“Ganondorf! Ganon!”
Ganondorf dazedly looked up. Zelda was kneeling in front of him, blue eyes worried. Her eyes…so alike to Link’s.
She threw her arms around him. “Thank the goddesses! You looked in such pain, I thought the spirit had found you again!”
He shook his head, slowly standing unsteadily. One arm around Zelda, he raised the other to his face, and was surprised to find it wet with tears that he had no memory of shedding.
Zelda supported him, distressed to see him so unsteady. Tears still trickled unknowingly from his eyes as he reached up and touched his face. “What happened?” She asked.
“A memory…that I had forgotten…” Ganondorf whispered. He looked at her hand and saw that she was still holding the ocarina. “That is the Ocarina of Time, is it not?”
She nodded, mystified.
Ganondorf reached out a trembling hand and gently touched her cheek. “I…struck you.” He whispered, horrified to no end.
Zelda’s brows drew together, certain he was talking of the past. “You…did?” She said, unable to remember.
He hung his head. “That day, nine years ago, when I tried to take the ocarina by force…”
Her eyes widened as she too, remembered that day. Then she frowned as he opened his mouth. “If you are going to apologize, forget it. Not only was it nine years ago, you were not even yourself then.” She said sharply, cutting him off.
Ganondorf shut his mouth, and weakly smiled. Zelda smirked slightly, realizing she had been right. She then gasped as he grabbed her suddenly, kissing her fiercely. After returning the kiss with the same intensity for a while, Zelda groaned and pulled away. “We should stop, before we are unable to.” She said, sounding like there was nothing more she wanted to do than continue.
“Are you ready to have again me so soon?” He questioned worriedly. There had been a lot of blood on the sheets…
Zelda smiled playfully, her seductive gaze making his sensitive tool swell slightly as she stared into his eyes beneath lowered lashes. “If we did not have a mission to accomplish Ganon, I’d have you right here.”
Ganondorf could barely suppress a groan as he heard those sexy words. He made a mental note to himself to take her the next time the situation was not so serious.
Zelda slowly stood. Her eyes never leaving Ganondorf’s, she placed the Ocarina in his hand. “Play it.” She whispered.
He looked at the blue instrument, bewildered. “I do not know how.”
She smiled slightly. “It will guide you…Listen with your heart, Ganondorf. Hear the hidden melody in this room. Even though the spirits are silent, their whispers can still be heard.”
Ganondorf raised it to his lips, and closed his eyes. His ears heard nothing. How could he…listen with his heart as Zelda had said?
“Think of something you love…”
The words Zelda had spoken when he had been learning to heal came back to him. Focusing on her, and the love he felt for her, he waited. Then, ever so softly, he heard them. The spirits guarding this temple…were singing. It was a subdued, but powerful song, pure and holy.
An unseen force guiding his fingers, Ganondorf played with them, note for note. The Ocarina sung true and sweet in his hands as both spirits and instrument sang in harmony. A glow surrounded Ganondorf as he finished playing, then slowly receded.
For a moment, neither Zelda nor Ganondorf breathed.
Then the spirits sang out, once again able to be heard by the ear, just like they had years ago when Link first entered this temple. Ganondorf looked around with awe. He felt the power woven into the voices, and finally understood why the spirit possessing him had been unable to destroy the temple.
Zelda hugged him, proud that the spirits hidden in the temple had accepted him. Ganondorf returned the embrace, laying his head on top of her own.
“What is this?” Said a melodious voice.
Ganondorf spun around, stepping instinctively in front of Zelda.
Three tall women stood there, eyeing them both with interest. They all looked alike, except for their hair and robes. The one who had posed the question stood in the middle, wearing robes of deep crimson and golden hair. The one to her left had deep black hair, and wore pale blue. The one to her right wore dark green, and had spiky brown hair.
“Great fairies.” Said Zelda, stepping out from behind Ganondorf and inclining her head. “Thank you for coming.”
“Why was he embracing you, Sage of Time?” Asked the green one.
“Have you forgotten who that man is?” Cried the red.
The blue one was silent, observing things with her large azure eyes.
Zelda stood up to her full height and looked at them squarely. Ignoring their questions, she looked to Ganondorf. “Ganondorf, these are the great fairies: Blaze, Essence, and Valorye.”
He bowed. “It is an honor.”
“Dark one who sought this lands destruction, why do you now stand by us?” Whispered Valorye, the green.
“The Dark one still lives, though not in me.” Said Ganondorf calmly.
“Ganondorf, King of Evil.” Said Blaze the red, walking forward and stopping right in front of Ganondorf, their eyes on the same level. “You who made thousands suffer and caused the land to weep blood.”
Ganondorf held up his right hand, the mark of his Triforce shining brightly. Blaze’s eyes widened and she backed away, her eyes lowering in reverence of her Goddess’s Triforce piece. “No longer am I the King of Evil, yet I still do carry the Triforce.”
“Sisters, do you not see?”
All of the heads turned to look at the last fairy Essence, creation of Nayru. Her blue eyes were soft as she gazed at Zelda and Ganondorf.
“See what?” Said Blaze, fairy of Din.
“Love…” She said gently. “…True love.”
The Door Of Time opened suddenly, halting the conversation. Light poured down from the ceiling, showing that the Sages were ready to receive them.
Without any more words, they walked into the next room, then paused, not yet stepping into the light.
Zelda started murmuring some strange words, words that only the Seventh knew. Reaching for Ganondorf’s hand, she was startled when it met hers halfway. Looking at him, she smiled to see him looking just as startled as she. ‘True love? Indeed…’
They both smiled and clasped hands as Zelda gave the signal. All at once, they stepped into the ring of light, quickly teleporting to the Temple of Light.
