Harley: You called for less Espio and Mirage, which is perfectly understandable. Sorry that there’s such a lot of it. Power Jump, Ashura is evil and power-crazed. But not all maniacs do that stupid laugh.

Froggy: We’ve made a great story for you guys, and there’s more on the way. All we ask in return is that you inform any Sega representatives you know how great we are. And all your friends too, of course.

Harley: Most Intelligent Review goes to Lizzie, even if she does think we got a little repetitive. Three reviews in one! Well Done!

Chapter Eleven: What Ashura Did…

While Mirage was busy recovering from Dimensional Uncertainty in the horrible ghettos of Westopolis, much more interesting things were happening a long way away. In Night Babylon, to be absolutely precise. Although it wasn’t night just yet. It was merely early evening.

Rouge sat in her lounge, counting up the takings for the week. She was doing very well, so she wasn’t worried in the least about the club.

She hesitated in her counting, baulked, and ran for the bathroom. She managed to get there in time, and with her head halfway down the toilet, threw up again. After a while, she burst into tears. What was the point of anything any more? What was the point? What did it matter that there was nobody around to see her crying? She’d cry and wail as loud as she pleased.

“Sonic!” she sobbed, and threw up again, “Sonic, I want you to COME BACK!”

Of course there was no answer. She hadn’t expected any.

~~~
Some hours later, there was a flare of blue light in her living room. She stared up at the green hedgehog, ready to ask him what the hell he was doing… and felt her breath taken clean away.
It was the eyes. Blue eyes from edge to edge. They weren’t just blue though. The only time Rouge had seen a blue approaching that was just once, when she’d happened to wake up at the precise moment of dawn. Between the window’s curtains, she’d glimpsed an unbelievable, luminous colour that had lasted for only a moment, before fading to a regular, sky-blue.
Nobody should have eyes so indescribably beautiful. Even Shadow, whose eyes were a glowing, bloody crimson didn’t have eyes so… unreal.
The rest of him was equally impossible. Sonic’s quills were as blue as this guy’s quills were grass green, but Sonic used about a bottle of hair gel a day to keep them looking smooth. This guy didn’t appear to use anything but his quills fell that way, just the same.
His skin was so very pale. Nobody alive should have skin as pale as blood in a glacier - but there it was, and he still stood there, breathing calmly. And he was so... beautiful...
It was almost enough to make her forget the air of danger that hung about him. Almost.
“Who are you?” she demanded of the green hedgehog, “How did you get in? Club Rouge won’t be open for another hour yet!”
“It doesn’t matter, dear girl,” the hedgehog smirked. His body looked about twenty, but his eyes looked old… old enough to have watched glaciers carving out valleys, “You have a Chaos Emerald. Hand it over.”
Rouge glared, “How do you- I mean, what Chaos Emerald?”
“I can sense it in this building, you stupid slag!” Ashura’s eyes narrowed, “And I’ll get it myself.”
“The hell you will!” Rouge slammed her foot into Ashura’s crotch - or she would have. Because the hedgehog was leaning on the wall behind her.
“Nice try, girl,” he chuckled.
“What - that was Chaos Control!” Rouge shouted, “Do you know Shadow?”
“Yes,” the hedgehog bowed, “I am Ashura.”
“Ashura the Hedgehog?” Rouge hazarded.
“No. Just Ashura,” he smiled evilly, “Hand over the blue Chaos Emerald and you will not be harmed.”
“I don’t believe you,” Rouge said coldly.
“You’re smarter than that stupid Doctor…” Ashura chuckled…
~~~

“Give me the red Chaos Emerald,” Ashura told the cowering doctor, “And you will not be harmed.”

“How did you get past all my security?!” Eggman Robotnik shouted at him, holding up a blaster, “You didn’t even smash a robot! It’s impossible!”

“For mortals, perhaps,” Ashura smirked, “The red Chaos Emerald. Now.” There was a pause, “NOW!” he screamed, and a monitor exploded with a Chaos Spear. Ashura had always remembered Professor Gerald as a large man whose face had been badly savaged by a moustache. This grandson of his was very similar, but there was a big difference - while Gerald had always seemed to want to look as small as possible, slightly hunched and permanently cowering, Eggman seemed to fill up all the available space with his vast body and personality to match.

“You can use the power of the Chaos Emeralds?” Eggman’s eyes widened, “Perhaps I was hasty in wanting to destroy to destroy you. Work for me, we can make beautiful empires together!”

Work for you?” Ashura spat, “Work for you? Work for you?

“What’s wrong with that?” Eggman asked him.

“You are the grandson of Gerald Robotnik,” Ashura sneered, “You inherit his horrible moustache, his genius, his insanity, and his debts.”

“Whatever my grandfather owes you, I’m sure I can supply it with the minimum of fuss,” Eggman snapped.

“The red Chaos Emerald,” Ashura told him, “I will have it, or I will take it!” He began charging up a Chaos Spear in one hand.

“I’m sure we can come to some agreement-“ Eggman started. The Chaos Spear hit a panel behind him, and he shouted, “Okay, okay, take it!” Fumbling in his pocket, he pulled out a piece of paper with a few numbers on it, glanced at it, and then walked over to a stone in the wall that looked just like any other stone in the wall. Any other stone, however, would not have caused a section of wall to slide aside, revealing a huge safe.

He opened the safe, took something out, and whirled around, pointing a high-powered blaster at... thin air. Ashura was standing behind him, grinning, already holding the purple Chaos Emerald in one hand, and the green Chaos Emerald in the other.

"Why you little grass-hole-" Eggman started, turning back, and Ashura kicked him swiftly in the head, dispatching him. After a moment of thought, he kicked the Doctor into the safe. There was a release mechanism inside. Maybe the doctor would come around before he ran out of air. So just to be sure, Ashura kicked him in the head again, and slammed the door on him.

Then he walked out of Eggman's base, swaggering slightly.

~~~
Ashura’s eyes crossed as Rouge’s boot slammed into his crotch. Okay, bad time for reminiscing, he thought as he fell to the floor with a quiet whimper.
“I am NOT giving it to you!” Rouge shouted, “You’re not… you’re not going to use it for any good purposes! I can see that you’re not a real person! You’re not even made, like Shadow!”
“That is true…” Ashura crept back to his feet, “Did you know that once upon a time we couldn’t take things that didn’t belong to us?” his impossibly blue eyes shone, “But the Chaos Emeralds are different. I want them.”
“They’re not yours to take,” Rouge replied.
“Not in so many words,” Ashura laughed, “I'm not going to use them for evil,” he said, "Well... actually I will. But all in all it would be a lot easier for you if you handed them over."
“I don’t believe you,” Rouge snapped, “I don’t believe anything you say.”
“Pah! It’s not as if you even use it!” Ashura brought his fist around. It glowed, and the air around it exploded, knocking Rouge aside, advancing on her, “Enough of the niceties, I told you I’d hurt you, and-“
“Oh, please!” Rouge gasped, holding her stomach, “I… I’m… please don’t hurt it…”
“What are you babbling about, girl?” Ashura fixed his piercing gaze on her, “Oh… oh, this is rich…” He stepped forward and kicked her in the stomach, “You’re pregnant, aren’t you?!”
“Yes! Please don’t-“
“Shut up!” Ashura kicked her again, “You should have handed over the Chaos Emerald when you had the chance, bitch!” He laughed wickedly and stepped over her, heading for the source of the energy. He found it in a safe, and for once cursed his lack of physical strength. After kicking the safe a couple of times, he returned to Rouge, and picked her up by the back of the neck, dragging her to the safe, “Open it,” he said coldly.
“Why should I?” Rouge asked him.
“Because if you don’t,” Ashura bent down to look in her eyes, “I will use your head to smash it open instead.”
Rouge moaned, and entered the combination. She reached into the safe and handed Ashura the blue Chaos Emerald, “How did you know which one it was?” she asked him.
“I’m psychic,” Ashura replied, snatching the Chaos Emerald off her. It was as good an answer as any. The Chaos Emerald vanished into thin air, and he grinned, “Now, to find Mirage!” he shouted gleefully.
“What the hell is a Mirage?” Rouge asked him.
Ashura was far too exalted by his latest triumph to refrain from monologuing, and smirked, “The correct phrase is ‘who the hell is Mirage?’,” he said smugly, and chuckled, thinking of Mirage. Sex appeal had definitely not been high on Gerald’s list of priorities when he’d made the hybrid. Some women had curves in all the right places. Some women had curves. Mirage had as many curves as a ruler.
“Who the hell is Mirage?” Rouge asked him.
“You think I’m going to tell you everything about my expansive plan for world domination?” Ashura smirked, “Well, it is getting rather lonely on that stupid island I hijacked…”
“You can’t be serious-“
“I am always serious,” Ashura said, and looking into his impossibly blue eyes, Rouge knew that he was. She started to crawl away, “Where are you going, girl?” he asked her with a sneer, grabbing her by the neck. Once again he kicked her in the stomach.
“Why are you doing this?!” Rouge shouted, struggling against him.
“It’s all your fault, girl,” Ashura chuckled, “You shouldn’t be so… devilishly attractive.”
Suddenly, the phone rang. Both Ashura and Rouge looked up at it, but before Rouge could break free from him, he squeezed her neck meaningfully. Soon enough, the answering machine kicked in.
“Hey, Rouge,” it was Sonic’s voice, “It’s me, Sonic. I know you haven’t been answering my calls and all that, but… look, I don’t know if I’ve done anything wrong… I really… I really miss you… please, I want us to talk. I… aw, hell with it…”
The message ended, and Rouge began to cry quietly.
“Well, well, well,” Ashura was grinning so widely that the top of his head looked ready to come off. Any sentence starting like that wasn’t going to end well, “An admirer, perhaps?” he asked, “Sounds like an ex-boyfriend… though it has been a while since I’ve had any…” he bent very low, and his breath was cold on Rouge’s cheek, “Experience…”
Rouge nodded, mutely, shuddering.
“Don’t be so scared, woman,” Ashura sneered, “I can see into your mind… it’s very interesting… do you really enjoy bondage and a whip? I do too…”
“Whatever you’re going to do to me, you won’t break me,” Rouge told him, her voice shaking slightly, but very definite.
“What makes you think that?” Ashura grinned, “I’ve never been proven wrong before. Besides, I don’t want your body…” he chuckled maliciously, “At least, not right now,” he added.
If there was anything that Ashura truly revelled in, it was the fear of mortals. In their minds it called out to him like a beacon. It was the only thing that aroused him. The power of the Chaos Emeralds was just another way to invoke fear, and the control granted by them would give him the power to invoke fear on an omniversal scale. Just the thought of it made him shudder with pleasure.
He became aware that Rouge was staring at him, her eyes wide with terror as she watched his arousal grow, and he kicked her in the stomach again, “Didn’t your parents ever teach you that it’s rude to stare?” he snapped, “Or maybe they were teaching you something else…” Rouge closed her eyes tightly, and received another slap, “LOOK AT ME!” he bellowed, “Do as you’re told,” he told her, looking deeply into her eyes, “And maybe all I’ll demand of you is a quick blowjob…”
With that, he pulled out a Chaos Emerald, and shouted a command. And in a brief flare of Chaos Energy, they were both gone.
Harley: Next Chapter… well, we’re back to good old Espio/Mirage sex. But don’t worry; these happy days won’t last for much longer.
Froggy: Happy Days are going away…
Harley: Hey! How come you’re allowed to sing?! Ahem… after some mild interest shown in the alternate version of ARAAT3, Froggy will be putting it up on his account so that you pay more attention to him.
Froggy: Actually, I don’t really mind, but it gets on Harley’s nerves a bit, because she’s nice like that.
