Epilogue: Happily Ever After
Life continued on for the quiet blonde, Roxas, and the gregarious red head, Axel. Axel's father, just as predicted by his mother, eventually came around and accepted the two men's relationship. He didn't talk much about it and rather just liked to pretend they were only friends but didn't, however, protest when they chose to display their feelings towards each other in his presence.
Several more days passed before Roxas finally worked up the courage to tell his family the truth. But, not much to his surprise, they took it quite well, telling him he should always 'be who he is' and 'not pretend to be something he isn't.' Their calm and rational attitude towards the whole thing made Axel want to visit them more often, just so he could be around parents who were truly ok with their relationship and not just bearing with it for their sake.
As the days carried on, their bond only grew tighter, as their once close friendship gradually melded into an unbreakable love. While Axel played the male role most of the time, Roxas did eventually get his chance at being the dominate one.
"Is this gonna feel weird?" the red head asked anxiously as he peered up at his lover.
Roxas laughed lightly, "Yeah, it's gonna feel a little weird, but then it'll feel really good. Trust me."
"I always trust you babe," Axel said with a nervous grin, "Alright. I guess I'm as ready as I'll ever be."
Roxas smiled once more at his boyfriend, then began to enter him, "Doin' ok?"
Axel grimaced slightly, "You're positive this is gonna feel good?"
Roxas laughed once more, "Like I said, 'Trust me.'"
Eventually, as Roxas had said, Axel did come to enjoy the feeling and even began to volunteer to be on bottom every now and then. Roxas couldn't help but be amused by this little change of heart and was always willing to oblige.
Work too, carried on as normal. Somewhat. Rumors flew around for about a week before eventually settling down. Whenever someone approached the two, to ask them if they were indeed a couple, Axel would always reply with a cheerful, "Yep! Sorry! He's taken!" or some similar variation and wrap his arm around Roxas. This of course, always warranted a blush to race across the blonde's face. Which, in turn, caused the red head to laugh and call him 'adorable.' Once all the fanfare died down, however, the couple had managed to gain a new friend. Namine, who they had met earlier, was surprised to learn that Axel was Riku's brother. She began spending more and more time with the two and grew to love them both as though they were family. Of course, their long time friend, Demyx stayed by their side and continued to be a daily source of jokes and quick wit.
For the most part, the two men's lives carried on as before. It was almost as though they had simply changed their hair color. At first, there was a big fuss: some people loved it; some hated it, but in the end, it wasn't a big deal. Life moved on and day-to-day activities resumed. Ultimately, the only two lives that were significantly altered by the whole ordeal, were honestly the only two that mattered. Axel and Roxas, once only best friends, had found a love to last the ages and that little detail, simple as it was, meant that their lives would never be the same.
