Pain within the Heart (Finale)
A/N: The final chapter! Sheik finally makes his comeback and I apologize taking so long with it. The ending might cause some people to be mad with me, but I had to end it in that way or else the story wouldn't end. Now on with the chapter!
Chapter 10: Pain within the Heart.
“You were certain that there are Sheikah that are against me?” The throne room was faintly lit, the three were barely visible.
“Yes my lord...the gossip stones still speak to me about my people; they are angered that you have murdered the last of Hyrule’s Royal Family, obviously they will send someone to kill you.” Shadruyn lifted himself to his feet before watching the deep blue eyes of his master. “Perhaps it is best to take precautions against them before it is too late. My magic is far older than any they would have; it would be hard for any assassin they send to detect my powers if I were use them to aid you.”
“Do what you must then...”
To plot out the assassination of a powerful leader, time must be taken in order to make sure that nothing could go wrong. Sheik was torn, unknowing if he could truly kill a man he once bedded; the simple dagger glinted his reflection back at him. Tonight, the castle was quiet, a perfect time to strike and defeat evil finally. Crimson eyes closed before a soft escaped from barely parted lips. “...Link...”
It was dark within the stone halls of the castle, allowing Sheik to sneak past the few guards posted to watch their dark lord. He didn’t want to do this and had certainly put up a fight about it...
~”No! I won’t do it! You can’t possibly force me to kill this man! He is the Hero of Time and I aided him throughout his quest. Princess Zelda...”
“What about the princess?”
Sheik glared up at his superior, hating the man for looking down on him as nothing but a common Sheikah knight; his bloodline within their people was far older than most, spanning back to those who even defected from their clan in order to chase after the coveted power that they were to keep secret from the world.
“Princess Zelda would still be alive if she hadn’t insisted on meeting the hero in my ‘guise. Forcing me to leave before he had even completed ridding the evil from the Shadow Temple was also something that aided into this. Link could trust me and I’m certain that he still does!”
A strong hand had struck against the tanned cheek of the young blond, sending him sprawling to the floor. Ceric watched Sheik closely before turning away, “your job was to merely guide the hero, not to become his friend and submit to sexual desires. Everyone knows of what transpired with you and the hero, which was why you were brought back here. We Sheikah are nothing more than shadows to the Royal Family of Hyrule. With the Royal Family gone, we must destroy the evil that remains and bring balance to the land once more. Perhaps you and the hero can be reunited in another life when you are no longer bound by your people and your blood, but for now you must do as you are ordered...”~
A snapping spark from a nearby torch awoke Sheik from his reverie, forcing him to travel onward throughout the castle. It had taken a whole month to gain information from a chamber maiden on the whereabouts of Link’s bedchamber, but it was needed information. The door to the Hylian’s room was simplistic, the inside matching the door; Link was not one for anything elaborate and kept things rather subdued when it came to his surroundings. Scarlet eyes scanned over the room, spying only one form slumbering away within the bed; Ganondorf obviously never spent the nights sleeping beside Link, perhaps because the Hylian only wanted one Sheikah at his side. He silently padded towards the bed, taking his place before raising the dagger above his head, “...I’m sorry, Link...”
...The sound of a bow string loosing and an arrow clanging against the metal blade to send it skittering was enough to cause Sheik to spin to meet the one who found him. Sapphire pools met with the vermillion as Link stood in the doorway. “I’m sorry as well, Sheik...I’m sorry that I had waited for you to return to me, only to find you trying to kill me, or rather my doppelganger.”
Sheik had backed up, falling onto the bed and into the arms of the occupant, the golden locks darkening to ebony as the blue faded to bloody red. Link had snapped his fingers, bringing both Sheikahs to attention. “Shadryun...let him go. I only wish to speak with him, they sent a Sheikah I know well and could possibly even trust if he wasn’t here to bring my death.”
Shadryun growled before releasing his brethren, “if you are absolutely certain...Ganondorf and I shall remain on guard in case anything should happen...”
Link sighed once the door had closed in order to leave them alone. He crossed the distance between himself and the Sheikah before pulling him into a tight embrace and a rough kiss. Sheik was taken aback by such actions, unsure as to why Link would react in such a way after he was nearly assassinated, but his body was already giving into the Hylian’s advances. Their tongues battled for dominance, Link’s quickly winning against the smaller male. Strong arms wrapped around the slimmer body, drawing Sheik closer to the other man. Once the kiss was broken, Link merely looked deeply into Sheik’s eyes; this was what he had been wanting for so long. Ever since their one night together, Link had been pinning for the Sheikah male. Ganondorf and Shadruyn were fine substitutes, but could never replace Sheik. This was what Link needed, had longed for ever since that single night.
The Sheikah and Hylian tumbled onto the bed, Link’s lips attacking flesh with soft and sweet kisses to force moans from Sheik. Link lifted his head, grinning as he looked at the flushed face of the young man beneath him. “Sheik, it’ll hurt when you have to be executed for the attempt upon my life...don’t worry, I’ll always love you...”
His entire body froze before he had glanced down at the slim needle-like dagger that was embedded within his chest. Blue eyes widened before catching sight of the mournful face of the other man. Sheik had wriggled out from underneath Link, rolling him onto his back and gently kissing his lips. “I’m sorry Link...it had to be done, and even when you’re gone, you’ll always be remembered and I shall always love you...” He pushed the dagger farther, hearing bone crack; the blade was removed once Link gasped his final breath. The Sheikah slipped out of the room, needing to alert the other warriors to storm the caste and kill those who had to die. All Sheik knew was that it would seem like eternity until he could stop the tears.
A/N: Wh00t! Finished! I know that I killed Link off, but I had to kill him. Sheik didn't want to do it, but it was his duty to kill him. At least Sheik was sorry for what he had done! Well Read and Review!
