Chapter 10

Hi Artemis-sensei, don't worry, Kratos will choose Lloyd in the end over Cruxis^_^ Hi 123, Merry Christmas and a happy new year. Thank you for reading my other oyako fic on ff.net. I guess the scene with Kratos and Anna came out kind weird, cause of my take on Kratos's character. I imagined he hasn't had human contact for maybe 4000 years living in Derris-Kharlan, hasn't eaten, slept, or anything like that in angel form for a while, so coming down in human form, having a physical body would be a shock to him. I'm guessing since angels don't eat, sleep, etc, they don't have sex:P So maybe being in human form, it'd be strange for him to experience those things, so he's awkward...

In this chapter,Lloyd is in an alien world, finding out more than what he wanted, now beginning his descent into pain.

Chapter 10

When Lloyd regained conscious the air smelled sterile and dry, purified with 80% oxygen and 20% that smelled like a hospital. Bright florescent lights buzzing with a strange sound Lloyd never heard, powered by advanced reactors that drew their energy from dark matter in outer space lit his surrounding area. He felt naked, strangely not cold in the perfectly temperature controlled room at 70 degrees fahrenheit, atmosphere completely artificially insulated with no breeze or air currents.

“The test subject’s clothes have been removed and disposed of, as clothes serve are useless, serving as a only reminder of rank, of which this subject has none,” a mechanical monotone voice stated nearby.

“Indeed, the data of your sentence computed, I agree,” rejoined another robotic voice.

/Where the hell am I!?/ Gasped Lloyd to himself, pretending to remain unconscious until the two attending angels in the lab departed.

With his newfound angelic senses, he heard the flapping of their wings drift away out of hearing range. He still retained his human senses of warm, cold, as well as an appetite and need for sleep. Since angelic blood already coursed in his veins from Kratos, he could have the superhuman senses of angels and enjoy the best of both worlds.

He found the panels of the ceiling and walls made of a strange compound of steel and plastic unlike anything he’d ever seen. Crystalline circuits ran along the walls connecting to equipment and computers, anchored down by magnetic tiles in the floor. Outside of a small circular window made of an odd transparent material, he saw the stars so close up and bright. In fact, they appeared a hundred times closer as if he could touch them. Gazing outside, the earth’s blue aura, its oceans and continents were visible beneath swirling masses of clouds.

“I’m in outer space?” Lloyd stammered, his eyes going wide like saucers.

Beneath the window was another curious receptacle, with something folded inside it and written in the angelic language, which he could read as an angel saying “anti-matter disposal.” He guessed it somehow dissolved whatever waste was placed there into thin air for some other usable form of energy.

“Man, I wish it would open,” Lloyd sighed, hugging his naked form.

“Command identified,” blurted an automated voice from the receptacle. “Discarded uniform from lab worker B003 now available for reuse.”

“Wow!” Lloyd grinned in excitement, taking out the white lab worker’s uniform, slipping it on. It fit snuggly as the fibers of the fabric automatically adjusting to the contours of his physique like a white bodysuit Yddrasill wore.

“Pretty nifty, eh?” He stretched in it.

His supersonic hearing picked up the fluttering of wings outside the entrance of the lab.

/Crap!/ He thought, sprouting his wings.

“B003, where is the location of the subject just here a minute ago?” queried one of the robotic angels hovering back in.

“Removed for testing, uh…” Lloyd sweated, not knowing what to say. He realized the angel present identified him by the badge number on his uniform. “Sent elsewhere for further testing,” he improvised on the spot, copying the angels’ computer like voice and gestures.

The angel nodded blankly, no hint of human emotion or reaction evident, mechanically turning around and leaving.
Outside, a great domed ceiling a few hundred miles long spanned

across Derris-Kharlan’s futuristic city. Doll like creatures missing souls, wandering in a daze plotted along lifts, over escalators and along conveyor belt walkways lining the floors mindlessly carrying out orders and fulfilling Yddrasill’s commands.

“How creepy, they’re not really alive with hearts or anything.” Lloyd trembled, feeling shivers shoot up his spine at the sight of an entire city of automated dolls. “Colette said Derris-Kharlan is supposed to be…heaven. No, this is…hell!”

Lloyd cried running back into the lab he awoke. He collapsed on the testing table he regained conscious, burying his head in his arms.

Beep-beep buzzed a monitor attached to the table. “Results from testing subject now available,” it announced.

Lloyd frowned, examining the screen. He read things that didn’t make sense like “DNA strand woven through X-Y chromosome proves…” then came across “subject’s DNA proves he inherited half of his genes from Lord Kratos Aurion, rank seraphim, honorable companion of supreme Lord Yddrasill, meaning in human terms his biological father.”

“W-what?” Lloyd stuttered, his insides coiling in shock.
This surreal city, the results on the monitor, it had to be a dream, no a nightmare from which he could awake if he just willed it.

/His biological father/ repeated the words aimlessly in Lloyd’s awestruck mind, going numb.

“N-No! It…it can’t be!!!” wailed Lloyd, grasping his head, collapsing on his knees feeling he would die. “Kratos is my…I married my own, NOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!” his desperate cry rang out, echoing painfully throughout the room like thunder splitting his heart.

“WAHHHHHHHHH!!!” His mind churned in agony the fact Kratos was his father, although he suspected it, and disgust coursed through at the romantic relationship they shared. Grabbing a sharp implement used for surgery on the lab table he awoke, Lloyd held it above his heart, ready to plunge it in, shuddering.

At Yddrasill’s castle Kratos froze. He knew pain surged through Lloyd tearing him apart. Using his angelic powers, Kratos teleported behind Lloyd, materializing out of thin air, his arms thrown around his son stopping him. He squeezed Lloyd’s wrist so tight, Lloyd cried out, dropping the instrument with a clank.

“What the hell were you thinking!?” demanded Kratos, livid with anger, his face ashen white.

Balling out, Lloyd whimpered, shaking violently, “…the test results said you were… you were Kratos…my…”

“No!” Kratos’s eyes shot up at the monitor. “…Your father.” Tears welled in his eyes trickling down his face. “…I never meant for you to…”

Sobbing uncontrollably Lloyd suffered a breakdown.Lloyd’s vision misting over, body going limp in Kratos’s arms, he sniffled, “Dad, I still…love you,” he choked, eyelids fluttering shut, tears rolling down his cheeks.

“Well, well, Lord Aurion, how interesting,” mused a mocking voice from the entrance of the lab. A delicate half-elven boy with golden hair to his shoulders leaned in the doorframe, crossing his arms, sapphire eyes laughing. Yddrasill teleported there followed Kratos as Mithos in his boyish human form.

Mithos skipped over playfully, almost innocent like a child if Kratos didn’t know his true twisted nature. He grinned, his smile almost sincere, inclining forward to check the results on the monitor. “Lloyd Irving, son of Lord Aurion. His mana signature may not match my sister’s exactly, but your angelic blood makes him a stronger vessel. Why, Nee-san could live him in a few thousand years and it saves me the trouble of a Chosen having to complete the world regeneration ritual for her vessel.”

Kratos held Lloyd closer in a protective gesture. “My lord, I beg you to reconsider. If you dare lay a hand on my son, I shall be forced to take action.” Family was the one thing he loved that gave his life meaning.

“Are you going to betray me again, Sensei, just like that time 14 years ago when you ran away with a subject of the Angelus Project?” Mithos called Kratos that 4000 years ago before they put an end to the Kharlan War when Kratos trained him with the sword. The little boy in Mithos, innocent child that wanted Martel’s love broke through the surface of his insanity for a second.

“By betray, Mithos, do you mean stray from Martel’s original vision?” Kratos questioned, addressing the angel lord intimately as if he were his student once again. Kratos cradled Lloyd closer; ready to protect him if anything happened. “Your sister wanted a world where discrimination was healed through love, not an Age of Lifeless Beings.”

“Shut up!” Mithos cried, whimpering. “I hate humans cause they killed her.”

/He wants to become God, but inside, he’s just a wounded boy still grieving his sister’s death/, Kratos observed sadly, understanding his pain from Anna’s death.

/He’s just a kid/, Lloyd huddled closer to Kratos, burying his head inside Kratos’s chest. /I can’t believe I was in love with my own father, and still am, oh, what am I going to do? Mom, forgive me!/

“I thought you were different, you were my friend. That’s why I made you Origin’s seal,” sniffled Mithos, taking a step back. I thought you loved me like a dad when you were my teacher. After you ran away and Lloyd was born/. He glared at Lloyd held in Kratos’s arms. /You choose him over me. That’s why I want him to become my sister’s vessel. So you loose him, you feel the pain and betrayal I feel from you/.
