Chapter Ten
Purpose

A clawed hand burst up from the water and grabbed ahold of the bank of the moat.
The Azure knight pulled himself form the depths of the moat and onto the shore.
Nightmare made his way back to the bridge and looked about in disgust, The
man had stolen the wench and ran away... COWARD!! He would not accept any further
humiliation at the hands of this mortal.. He had humiliated him in such
a way before, now he had done it twice...
Teh Azure knight let out a bestial roar that shook the ground, sending
birds flying from the vibration it sent through the trees...

She could feel someones arms around her..
Tira stirred from sleep to find she was being carried again, it was the man who
had beaten her, then saved her from her former masters wrath.
She grunted and started to shift around, she didn't need to be carried like luggage!

Peyton felt her struggling and looked down at her.
"Tired of being carried? alright.. can you stand? careful"
He gently set her down on her feet, she was already almost
Mending..
Her blackened eye had healed and swelling had gone down, now she
could walk and by tomorrow would be completely healed.. what
the hell was this girl made of?

She took a few steps forward before her right knee shook, threatening to send her
crashing to her ass. He rushed forward and hauled her back up before she hit the ground.
"Hey, I said be careful, I didn't say fall on your ass!"
She was in her one of her depressed moods, giving him a cold look before slamming her
elbow into his stomach and walking forward again.
He grunted, then sighed as he held his stomach.

Peyton ran to atch up to her, "Hey! slow down!"
She looked over her shoulder, "Go away!"
He came up beside her, becoming a little aggitated.
"What's your problem?"
Her gaze became colder, "you cannot even cease to exist on your own..
why did you have to survive until now.. you ruined everything!"
She lashed out at him and he grabbed her arm, holding her still.
"I'm trying to help you!"
She struggled violently, like a cornered beast.
"I do not need your help Butcher, leave me alone!"
He became angry and let her arm go, her own momentum from pulling sending her backwards
and falling on her ass.
He pointed at her as she sat there, "Gah! you irritating little girl! you want to be left
along? fine!". Peyton turned around and waved his hand, as if to dismiss her.
"Go where you want and kill whatever, I don't care anymore!"
With that he walked off through the trees...

It was evening and she had stopped to rest under a large oak on top of a barren hill.
She felt a chill run up her as the wend blew, the coldness of night was vastly approaching.
She pulled her knees up to her chest and held them. Her mind was still wandering,
she thought of everything that had transpired...
She was masterless now.. She suddenly felt the severity of her loneliness,
she no longer had a master... Tira felt a growing weight pressing down on her heart,
she felt like she was suffocating. What would she do? she could not go back to just simple killing now..
She needed something to give her purpose..
Tears began to stream down her face, and she brought her hands up to hide her eyes.
The coldness of the night made them sting her face.

She had been resting uneasily, shivering with her head against her knees.
The sound of small footprints brought her back to awareness. As her eyes focused she
saw a strange sight, before her stood a small girl in a white dress, no shoes or
anything else but the dress but she wasn't cold.
The girl walked up to Tira with her hands behind her back, shyly she asked
"Whats the matter lady?". Tira looked at her, her childish side connecting with
this little girl.
"I'm alone now, and cold.."
The little girl tilted her head, "really? its not cold..
but I do know of a man who can help! he's over there.." she pointed to the clearing on the other
side of the burnt meadow. Tira looked over in the direction she was pointing.
"He's called the Butcher! you know him right? he's not angry anymore." the little
girl smiled. Tira looked back at the small girl, frowning.
"He doesn't want me around, why would he let me near him?"
The girl giggled again and put something in Tiras hand.
"Tell him he dropped this!"
The little girl skipped back and watched her.
Tira opened her hand to find a small metallic charm in the shape of a four leaf clover.
"What..?"
The girl clapped her hands, "Tell him he lost it, he'll be happy you found it!"
The little girl looked up at the sky suddenly then back to Tira.
The girl pouted, "Sorry... but I have to go, it was nice meeting you!"
Tira looked up, the girl had dissapeared...

He sat under a tree in front of a fire... perhaps he had been too hard on the girl..
Peyton sighed and rubbed the edges of his eyes. He closed his eyes in to think.
He felt someones prescene near hi mand opened his eyes, Tira stood on the other side of the fire.
Her Drossal gleamed wickedly in the light. She walked around the fire towards him, but instead
of attacking she laid it down behind the tree and sat down beside him.
He averted his eyes as she sat down.
"Look.. i'm sorry.. I shouldn't hav.."
Tira interrupted him, "just shut up.."
She leaned on him, a peaceful look crossing her face as she fell back into sleep.
HE thought he saw a smile on her face as he himself leaned back on the tree and closed his eyes.
"Goodnight Tira.."
