The Chaos Within

I appoligize that I do not have both chapters ready for upload. I have just recently switched to a new computer, and I can't seem to find my last chapter. HOWEVER! I do wish to keep my promises, so here is Chapter 10. I should have Chapter 11 up within a few days... I either have to FIND it or REWRITE it, so please be patient :). I assure you, the wait for reviews is over, and I will get the final chapter to you ASAP.

It's nightfall down at the Station Square sector of Westopolis. The speed highway silently hums as cars going in excess of 100 MPH rush along it occasionally. All is peaceful. A green glow can be seen coming from the shoreline towards the Station Square Harbor. As it approaches the shoreline, a figure rises, no, forms from the water. It was Miles "Tails" Prower. He looks up to the skies as he spies a familiar blue blur leaping from rooftop to rooftop, and occasionally running from the sides of the buildings, as was a nightly ritual for him.

"There you are," said the fox in a voice that was not his own. It was Amy's. "This time, you're mine, Sonic. You WILL marry me."

Amy flies off towards Sonic, this time using Tails' voice, yelling friendlily "SONIIIC!"

He seems to have heard who he thinks is his best buddy, as he stops his course and heads in the opposite direction, towards the young two-tailed fox. He stops on the roof of the ocean-side hotel, waving his pal of so many years down. As the fox lands, Sonic grins, saying "Hey, buddy. It's been a while. What's up? I thought you were working on a new Chaos engine for the Cyclone."

"Sonic, did you see that explosion over the ocean yesterday?!"

Sonic looks down at the mention of this. Sure, Eggman may have been a pain in the butt for as long as he could remember, but... He never actually wanted him dead.

"Yeah, I saw it... I never would have thought that he coulda just gone down like that. Its weird... Nobody saw anything escape from the Egg Colossus before it blew... At least, nothing big enough to hold Eggman."

Amy chuckles to herself, knowing full well what went down that day, having caused that explosion herself. She decides to change the subject so that she can acquire the final emerald... And then, Sonic would have nothing to do except marry her.

"Anyway... Sonic, do you still have that Chaos Emerald? I wanted to experiment with a double power source, see if I couldn't harness it. If it works, we could go anywhere faster than anything before, with exception of Chaos Control."

"Oh, yeah. Come on, Tails, its at where I'm stayin' right now. Guess I won't really need it anymore now that..."

Sonic tapers off, suddenly running down the side of the building and into the doors of the hotel. He never stayed anywhere more than a week at a time. His life was much too fast for that.

In Sonic's hotel room, Sonic sits down on his bed, almost ready to sleep. Something was off about his little buddy, though, he could tell. He told himself it was nothing as he gets back up and opens a hotel safe, where he kept the emerald. Fortunatelly, it was the non-electronic kind, otherwise the safe would have been fried from an excess of Chaos energy.

"Here ya go, Tails. Be careful with it, though."

Tails grabs the emerald almost greedily as it sinks into his gloved hands, a light green glow emanating from his entire body as it absorbs into him. He begins to laugh, almost evilly, as he looks at Sonic and grins.

"That's all seven!"

"Wha?! You... You're not Tails! Who are you!?"

"Took ya long enough. That explosion from the Egg Colossus was no accident. I caused it. Eggman is neither alive nor dead. He has suffered the fate that, not only Tails, but also Cream... Vanilla... Rouge... Cheese... Knuckles... And even Shadow have suffered. They all live within me, and I can become then whenever I want."

As she said the names of all the people that she absorbed, their forms split from the previous, slowly making a circle around Sonic.

"No... No... How... WHY?! Why did you do this to all of my friends?! WHO ARE YOU THAT YOU COULD POSSIBLY DO THIS?!"

Tears began to form in Sonic's eyes, something very rare for the brave hedgehog.

"Shhh... Sonic, don't cry... They're all still alive..." All of Amy's victims said simultaneously. Then, one final puddle appears, it grows to reveal Amy. She hugs Sonic, saying, "Now we can finally be together forever. There's nothing else to distract you from me. Not Eggman. Not Shadow. Not your friends. Not even Chaos. I have to thank him, though, because without Chaos, I couldn't have done this."

Sonic backs up in disbelief, wrenching himself away from Amy's hands.

"No, no... Not you, too, Amy... It can't be you... You're not the Amy I know!"

Amy looks at Sonic in crushed disbelief. She slowly walks up to Sonic, who's backed himself into a wall.

"I am Amy, though... Sonic, don't you love me? You... You have to... There's no one left to run to."

Sonic looks into the pink hedgehog's eyes with a combination of fear and anger.

"No... I've never loved you, Amy. I considered you a friend at the most, but I never LOVED you. Wha... What made you think that taking all my friends from me would change that?!"

Amy looks into Sonic's eyes in return, looking like her heart has just been shattered. A sudden power seems to form, her eyes glowing bright green as her expression changes from heart-break to rage.

"No... You love me... You have to love me... You... You just don't see it! I... I'll MAKE you see it! Yes... If you join your friends, you'll HAVE to see it!"

Amy begins to laugh manically as tears stream down her eyes. They absorb back into her not even half-way down her cheek. Sonic looks up in fear, knowing what she's about to do as he bolts out the door, tears leaving a trail behind him.

"You can run... But you can't hide, Sonic! I've got all seven Chaos Emeralds! All water is mine to command! I am Perfect Amy!"

She laughs manically again as she and all of the victims she's absorbed melt and regroup. Amy forms a jet stream, aiming itself directly into a faucet tap, going as fast as Sonic down the water pipes. She doesn't know how, but she can sense where he is and follows him. She even manages to get in front of him, which she takes the opportunity to leap from the pipes into the street, not caring about destroying city property. Sonic notices a split-second before he runs into her, making a sharp turn in another direction. On an on this chase leads, until, finally, Sonic dead-ends accidentally into an alley that leads to the ocean. There wasn't enough room to accelerate so that he could run up the walls. And then, just off the shore, a large bulge in the water forms. At the opposite end of the alley, Amy and all her victims appear to block Sonic off.

"Last chance, Sonic. Marry me or join me."

The bulge enlarges, showing Perfect Chaos in all its terrifying power. It eases itself onto the shore, the ocean traveling with it.

"Amy... Don't do this... Please... Why are you doing this..."

"Times up."

Just then, Perfect Chaos floods into the alley as Amy grabs Sonic and kisses him, forcing herself into him as the flood covers them both, the other victims reforming in the water. The flood subsides as all that remains is Sonic on the ground, crying.

"I didn't want to have to do that, Sonic... I really didn't... What have I done... Ti... Tikal, help me... You were right... Help me..."

Amy grips her newly-obtained head, as if fighting for her sanity.

"No... No... I... I won't give in... I won't serve your purpose anymore, Chaos!"

She melts and reforms to show Tikal, who obviously is in her own command. Se smiles inwardly, saying "You've made the right choice, Amy. I can help, but you will have to let me."

A voice within her mind replies, almost gasping for breath, "Thank... You... Tikal... Please... Hurry... I don't want to change anymore... I can feel Chaos eating away at my mind... Hurry, I don't know how long I can last..."

At the last second, Amy summons enough willpower to snap out of the state-of-mind she was put in by the taint of Chaos's mind within her. Now, letting Tikal help, will she be able to rid herself of Chaos before it erodes her personality even further? Find out next chapter, in the exciting conclusion of "The Chaos Within"!
